Re: Veteran Level play and Slider talk

I loved these sliders and was wondering if these would work for the new game? Has any one tried these yet?

Re: Veteran Level play and Slider talk

Ive found a pretty good slider set for me

      Contact 0
      Power 9
      Timing 7
      Solid hits 5
      control 5
      constancy 8
      CPU

      Contact 3
      power 3
      timing 3
      solid hits 3
      control 5
      constancy 8

My hitting is around average on this, not many home runs either i think contact down to 0 fixes that. and there is a well variety of balls hit such as hard hits and soft ones. I can pound poor pitchers but struggle against good ones. which is how it should be. im getting around 8-12 hits per game. and sometimes as low as 2 or 3.

My ERA is still high tho, i get hit hard. Im thinking of messing with that. Some games it get like 20 hits against me. if its a good team, even bad teams have around 10.

Yo. to the dude who came up with those ******* in MLB 09 The **** for veterans mode, thanks. These ******* are not only great they keep the game honest. You have just as good chance to win as you have to lose. These setting have made this game more fun for me.

Also worth noting...I don't use the PCI/left stick much, nor the power swing. I'm mostly a swing-only player.

          First the sliders:

          Global
Pitch Speed: 0 (whatever you want, doesn't matter)
Fielding Errors: 10 (needs to be 10, look at stats)
          Throwing Errors: 4
          Fielder Run Speed: 1
          Fielder Reaction: 5
          Arm Strength: 3
          Baserunner Speed: 6
          Steal Ability: 4
          Steal Freq: 5
Wind: 3 (I like 3, more seems to give lots of wind in a lot of parks)
Injury: 2 (whatever you feel best)

          USER

          Contact: 5
Power: 8 (raised +1 after looking at stats)
          Timing: 5
          Fouls: 8
          Solid Hits: 5
          Starter Stam: 6
          Reliever Stam: 0
          Pitcher Control: 4
          Pitcher Consistency: 4

          CPU
          Contact: 3
Power: 7 (again, raised +1 after looking at stats)
          Timing: 4
          Fouls: 7
          Solid Hits: 3
          Starter Stam: 6
          Reliever Stam: 0
          Pitcher Control: 3
          Pitcher Consistency: 3
          Strike Freq: 0
          Manager Hook: 7
          Pickoffs: 2

          And...the stats.

The only thing that troubles me are the amount of 3B's from the CPU. They are pretty high and I'm not sure what to change to combat this without effecting everything else. This could also simply be awful fielding in the outfield on my part. Also the HR's are off from both, I raised the power settings +1 for both and I think this will even things out a bit there.

Besides those, I think they are very close to MLB averages and the CPU plays a pretty fair game of baseball. Please ignore any human stats (ie: BB), those are my fault, the CPU throws plenty of balls, I just refuse to not swing at them it seems.
Anybody know if these would work for MLB 10?

Re: Veteran Level play and Slider talk

            Hey everybody,

I hope everyone is having a great day. I enjoy this site very much, I find everyone's opinions and results very helpful. I have posted two forums on this site maybe you have seen them (What a joke, and I Give up, under MLB 10 sliders) After struggling and basically giving up on this game and myself. I finally dropped down to Veteran for hitting level. I'm currently playing a 162 game season with the St. Louis Cardinals. I have only played four games and I have had great results. Hitting is much easier and I don't have to focus as if I'm trying to solve a calculus problem just to get a hit. I have set my team and know that I'm going to play with veteran hitting. I continue to pitch on all star however. The only question I have is that I continue to switch between default sliders, and Psycho perfect slider set. I don't really enjoy setting sliders but do find that the "Perfect slider set" is very realistic with the fielders ability's and type of hits. However I have been informed by several individuals that this game is just about perfect out of the box on default sliders and settings (which is believe is Veteran play?) I guess I'm looking for feed back on how difficult you guys find pitching on default sliders on veteran and or all star. Do you find it realistic? To easy to hard? Let me know. I'm SOOOOOOO tiered of worring about the sliders and settings. I just want to play my season and regardless if I win or lose I don't want to have to blame it on the settings or sliders. what do you guys think? Thanks

Re: Veteran Level play and Slider talk

              Good day,

I believe I have surrendered. I purchased MLB 10 The Show the day it was released in my home town. Unlike almost everyone else I have yet to really enjoy this game. My problem like many others is that I have became overwhelmed by sliders and settings. I also belive that the "Perfect slider set" is very realistic but in many ways or at least the way I play the game is not. I have started and stopped four seasons since I purchased this game. I have made every attempt to play this game with All Star hitting and All Star pitching, using the perfect slider set. I find this realistic in the type of hits that are achieved. However there are almost no hits or runs period. Every game and I do mean every game is a 3-2 , 4-3. 4-1 score. When using these sliders exactly as described by Pchycobulk I have no success hitting what's so ever. every at bat seems to be a struggle to get the ball out of the infield let alone get a hit. The only success I have is to put the contact slider up one click and even then I might get four runs. As far as the computers hitting skills, they disappear. I started a offline season with the St.Lous cardinals and after playing 50 games I have never surrender more then four runs or 8 hits. I thought it might be the somewhat easy schedule the cards have in the early part of the season but after holding the Braves, Dodgers, and Phillies also to about two runs a game I find that this is no longer working for me. Every starting pitcher for the user or computer has a start like the following 6-8ip 4-6 hits zero to 3 walks and 6-9 ks
I have been told by several individuals that this game has been configured to play harder then the previous versions. Therefore if playing on versions that you have been playing on for years you will have much different results.
I have had the perception that hitting and pitching settings should be the same. And that playing on veteran is easy. However id almost rather have an easier play then have to fight and concentrate as if I'm studying for my masters.
I have just started a season with the Minnesota Twins. I'm looking for any feedback. I'm pretty much done playing with the sliders and settings. Id like to score some runs and give up some runs. it not realistic for every game win or lose to be a pitchers duel.

I'm going to try the following... Hitting on veteran pitching on all star with every thing the same as the perfect slider set except solid hits turned to three.
Any feedback would be wonderful I truly belive that weather I have player hitting 400 or continue to average 4 hits a game that I don't want to continue to be worried about settings and sliders, I know may other people have had this problem and it truly takes away from the great game that this is. Thank You
