Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***

I only managed to squeeze one game in last night and it was probably one of the most exciting games I've ever played it went to extra innings! Cubs 5 - ChiSox (me) 4! It all boiled down to an error in the 11th! I was feeling tired so I didn't get the stats but I used Zone hitting on All star. I'll play some more with zone but I just need to be patient and wait for my pitch.

Thanks TNK for the tip on the contact swing, I used it to stay alive when down on the count.

I still haven't managed a win yet but I know it will come with practice!

Thanks again for your efforts guys.

thanks gentlemen.....much appreciated. i actually thumbed through the thread late last night. downloaded the sliders last night, fired up a 14 game season, playing spring training games as well, just to get used to everything.....i started first game of spring against the A's. game looks beautiful....simply beautiful. it was late by the time i got to the 5th inning so i had to save and quit but from what i have seen thus far, i dig it. will get into it head over heels this coming weekend.

They look outstanding. Can't say I really disagree with a single thing on there other than Strike Frequency, because I'd rather lower Control to 0 or 1 and keep strike frequency at a decent number, because as an NL player I find too many CPU pitchers wasting their time throwing balls to #8 and #9 hitters, and its not very realistic. Also even the most notable control pitchers in real life don't hit their spots that often, its more about getting the general area right, and hoping for the call (or a swing). Not sure what difficulty your sliders were designed on, but that's just my 2 cents.

Isn't it nice to have so many non-changes, and places where a slider was only changed by 1 point? I think it shows how much the developers really do pay attention.

Off speed pitches like low change ups were killing me because they were SO SLOW. I bumped pitching speed to 5 from 4 & now i am fouling off those well placed off speed pitches & crushing them hanging curve balls.

            Sliders are money.

I have played about 20 games now with these sliders and am very satisfied. However, I am seeing a lot of passed balls for the CPU, about 4 to 5 a game. Is anyone else seeing this?

Hell yeah!! And I hate it too, but I dont think the slider's have much to do with that as I see most of these on 3rd strike calls. This needs to be a patch in the game or something.......WAAAAAY TO FREQUENT!!!

Are you guys talking about the CPU throwing them while you're at bat? If that's the case - you need to stop chasing bad pitches

If it's you throwing them - that's a matter of pitching

I agree with TNK here. When I first started playing I saw alot of those but as I learned to lay off on crap in the dirt I usually only see this once every 3-4 games. When you're pitching DO NOT throw anything in the dirt with a guy on 3rd lol. I've learned this the hard way.

                      Y errors so high?

...and would you change anything if you were using analog controls?

Errors at 7 because at 6 there weren't many fielding errors at all.

I use Zone Hitting and Meter Pitching - the consensus is that zone and meter are going to produce the best and most realistic results. I recommend not using analog

I like analog pitching and get great results with that, but yeah analog hitting is pretty um... confused...

Also for what its worth zone is definitely the best

Wouldn't Classic pitching and Timing Only hitting get the most 'realistic' (ratings based) results?

Sorry TNK, I don't mean to question you in your thread, but 'consensus' is flat out wrong. Unless, you mean 'consensus' on your sliders, in which case, I apologize for not getting you.

But doesn't Psychobulk use Timing Only?

                            What are you talking about???

Yes I am talking about the CPU throwing passed balls and it happens way too often, to a point where I won't advance the runners because I feel like I am taking advantage of it. I don't know if this has to do with sliders or it is something that can be patched.

Kamman what CPU pitching sliders do you use (and what difficulty)? It is possible you just swing at too many low pitches, but perhaps you do need to adjust the sliders. It's not something that's ever occured to me previously, so I have no research to back it up, but I'd assume Fielding Errors affects Passed Balls also.
