That's a great idea. Noob or veteran everyone can learn something new that will hopefully help them. I've learned that sometimes it's not the sliders as the reason for people struggling. It's the player themselves doing something wrong but they don't realize it. That's what happens with hitters and pitchers in real life. As they go through their careers they start picking up on things they are doing wrong. I know I've done things wrong, pitching being one of them. I also had to learn how to take pitches and sit on pitches. Lowering pitch speed was a great way to help that until I got better. The game is challenging and that is why it is so fun. The most challenging game I have ever played.

I don't always hold the button down it just seems that classic pitching is a bit touchy. I am going to raise pitcher control by one and see how that goes.Comment

Had a pretty realistic pitching duel w these sliders. Even though I won 2-0 I struck out 13 times and Price had a no hitter broken up in the 7th on All-Star difficulty (Except fielding is on HOF). Looking forward to playing more games w this slider set.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I have a question, but didn't want to open a new thread to ask it.
Why doesn't TheShow, or any game for that matter, create sliders that encompass the entire scope of the gameplay?
For example, if I set the contact slider to 0 I would make contact 0% of the time; no matter what. And, if I set the contact slider to 100, I would make contact with 100% of the pitches thrown. Or if I put throwing errors (which should actually be titled throwing accuracy) at 0, every player would hit the glove perfectly every time. If I put it to 100, the odds of the throw hitting the glove are just as likely as going into the 10th row.Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. Second, and the most important reason, is that most sports games use mathematic formulas as the basis for their game engine. By allowing any value to be zero, you are opening the door for all sorts of potential issues and weird mechanics.Comment

2nd game of the season and again a great game. Dunn hit the 2 run homer in the 9th inning. The sliders back to 4 on power allows home runs for both sides. The solid hits for both on 4 makes the game better.Comment

Hey Guys,
A few things came up and I haven't started my franchise yet. Tried to play last night but I was just to tired. I spent so much time working on the lineups / rotations tweaking the minor leagues, etc. I'm hoping to get the season underway today at some point.

Same issue, same team, I raised my power slider a while ago, I have it at 6 right now, but I'm not really using the same sliders as TNK. Several people in general say say they see too many home runs, but I have to wonder if either their definition of "too many" is a bit off, or they are playing in a small ball park, or with a strong team, or something; because I have never had Power at less than 5, and I've never gotten any home run surges.Comment

No one should ever...EVER...consider tweaking a slider after three games.
As far as power advice for the poster above: Patience. They will come. They will come in bunches.
Look for a pitch from time to time. Your bound to guess (in your mind, not the mechanic) right eventually. See it before the ball even comes in.
Don't be afraid to wait for "your pitch" on 1-0 counts. If you don't get it, take it. 2-0 is much more conducive to the long ball. And worst case, 1-1 can easily go 2-1. The key is hitting while ahead. Not behind.Comment

Yes, some people are unaware that a 0.96 hr per game average is not only acceptable, but realistic for some teams. The MLB average is 1.

1. The HR average was .95 last year, an expectionally low-offense season. The overall average is significantly higher, and I'm confident the average will be at least 1 this year, also.
2. The "average" should not necessarily be a desired result. The average is calculated across all 30 teams, that means both the best team in baseball AND the worst team in baseball. If you produce the exact averages all year in-game, you have no chance of a successful or fun season; you will be mirroring the stats of a middle-of-the-pack team, not a team that competes for first place in its division. I'm not saying your sliders should be loaded, but if someone wants to have some minor increases on their sliders, I see no issue with it.
I totally agree though, that constantly second guessing sliders is a bad idea; if you over-analyze them on the basis of a single series, you will never make any progress.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Right.
But no team averaged over 1.5 per game last year (TOR, just percentage points).
My point being that even the Phillies were at just 1. HR's are a relatively rare ocurrance, and should be enjoyed as such.
But yeah, I think you and I are on the same page. Just clarifying.Comment
