Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Also would like to know how that works.. Offense for both teams as a whole is a bit lower than I'd like. Too many times both me and the cpu have rolled through lineups with our 4 and 5 pitchers. I just feel like I can never hit a ball solid unless I'm using Cabrera (i'm the Tigers). I need to give it a some more time to really see the effects but we'll see, still doesn't feel like I get anything behind the ball.Twitch: Goblue81188Comment

but I dont think you need to bump the CPU's contact. The CPU's contact and timing both are 5, i was thinking of lowering one of those two to 4, maybe the timing.Comment

you're using timing hitting against the cpu right? i do agree between contact and timing, at the least raise timing 1 from the set's default. this gives us a bit more bigger window if we are a split second late or early in pressing the swing button when the pitch is right down the pipe... feeling a hair behind/ahead when set at 5. I'm considering incrementing my contact from 5 to 6 to make better contact (whether it's a foul or a fair ball) all around the strike box when the cpu pitcher nibbles so i have less swing/misses.

Nice observation, I may implement this. I raised human solid hits to 3 & promptly restarted the game, way too many hits. Im usually late to very late in my swing feedback or very early on off speed/breaking pitches. Like you im looking to cut back on swings and misses, not necessarily get more hits.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
hello. in 2010's set after playing default psycho's set, i raised the human contact from 5 to 6 as well. thus this yr, i first tried it at the slider sets default again, which was 5 again, but i'm swinging through stuff coming down the wheel house so for me i'm putting human contact at 6 again. i rather do this than tweak too much the pitch speed (leaving at the set's default of 4)... because if you slow the pitch speed too much, the offspeed stuff like a changeup down the pipe becomes a big ankle breaker like a killer crossover in bball.
raising human contact is like making the baseball into a bigger diameter softball, or fattening the barrel of the bat, meaning, you're gonna be able to foul off a bit more pitches that are offcenter strikes, thus reducing swings/misses... potentially reducing some K's.
both are important to me since i use timing hitting, vet. level.
i rather do this first than tweak the computer pitcher consistency / control settings... but i will tweak these two if i dont see the cpu hit me with a pitch or i dont see enough wild pitches.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I based my RttS Pure Analog CF Slider Set off of this set and I have to say I'm impressed. Although 'Ptch Strike Freq' and 'Solid Hits' are a little difficult for the minors, so over last year and this years 'perfect slider' set, I've gotten in over 10,000 ABs in and have developed a slider set that changes as you move from AA to AAA to the Majors. If anyone is interested in an RttS version of the slider (that requires a couple changes as you are premoted/demoted,) I'll upload it and start a thread.
Thanks for the hard work guys. Very enjoyable after thousands of ABsComment

Lesson learned...give solid hits at 3 a chance before you give up on it. Not every game will be the same, nor should it be. I've just found that some games I could hit the ball over over the field and get 15 hits one game then totally get shut down and manage only 5 or 6 the next. I've also found this to be true with raising CPU solid hits to 3 as well.Last edited by merg311; 04-17-2011, 03:51 PM.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I still say 2 works best.
I've had games where both teams have each had 10-12 hits and some where both teams combine for only 10.
I get a nice variety.
Solid hits at 2 also seems to bring out more fielding animations, and it's also given me several key hits from slow rollers that probably would have been routine groundouts with this set any higer.
Also makes me (sometimes) be more selective at the plate knowing that if I swing at a pitch out of the zone there's a good chance I wont make good contact which would result in a weakly hit ball.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
i had solid hits at 2 all year on 2010... i'm trying it on 2 for 2011 and it seems like it behaves as it did on 2010, so keeping it there for now. I set pitcher consistency down 1 notch from default 6 to 5, tried 1 game and the cpu pitcher was okay up until the 5th when he had his 2nd wild pitch of the game, right after the wild pitch he beaned my Arod. It seemed oddly drastic a drop off in consistency going from 6 to 5. I had all my trial games so far at CPU consistency of 6 and had not seen my batters get beaned...Last edited by abcabc; 04-17-2011, 07:15 PM.Comment
