Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I was assuming that I was not the greatest The Show pitcher of all time to hold teams to such little offense using the Royals pitching staff. It's hard for me to judge my own hitting performances because I've never used a team as bad as the Royals.
I also force myself to throw to API locations, otherwise the tendency would be to have pitch charts look like some I saw the other day where EVERYTHING was down in the zone, as if anyone actually pitches like that, and that would also increase the amount of poor contact.
It'd be interesting to see people's 20 game samples/averages. 20 games generally works really well since it features series against 5-6 teams and it is 4 times through the rotation.
When I look at increased pitcher consistency, which results in more pitches around the border of the strike zone, AND reduced solid hits, How could the game NOT result in reduced offense? That would seemingly be the most obvious conclusion. If it did not, then something would be broken with the sliders.
Keep in mind, this set uses a reduced fielder run speed, therefore, the reduced SH in itself could potentially be compensated for...possibly marginally. But compensated for nonetheless.
I personally like run speed and solid hits at 4/5, but that's just where I see the greatest results of singles versus extra bases.
CPU consistency above default could also cripple offenses...it doesn't have to, but for some users, it's a definite possibility and maybe not worth it's minute reduction of WP.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Through 20 games with these sliders I am 8-12 with the NYMets which record wise is realistic but my team BA .202 so the only thing I am changing is adding 1 to Human Solid Hits since supposedly that one affects average. I find the pitching to be spot on with a team ERA of 4.15 and btw I play on All-Star with Timing hitting and no I do not want to try Zone or Analog. Hopefully this small change will increase my hitting a bit and this could make it perfect.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I am dead last in hitting in my Braves franchise. It just seems that everything I hit is either a pop up or an easy grounder and when I do hit the ball solid it is always right at someone for an easy out or a home run. I can not get a rally going at all and produce runs though just singles and doubles. I to use timing only and do not want to switch to zone but I just don't know what to do, I've upped contact to 6 and lowered power to 4 to try and produce more singles and extra base hits but my last games just feels the same as it did before I changed it. I may also raise solid hits to 3 and put contact back to 5 but leave power at 4, I will do the same for the computer because I do not want an unfair advantage. Oh and on a side note I had to lower CPU foul frequency to 4, WAY to many foul balls, Roy Oswalt fouled off 8 in a row and then hit a single.
Just suck it up and go to zone - i get way better results using zone than i got usng Timing.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I may give it a try again but the only problem I have with zone is that I'm just not patient enough. I tend to swing more since I have to do three things other than just judging if the pitch is a ball or strike and hit X with timing only. If my games continue the way they have then I will give zone a go.Comment

That is the same reason I hace trouble using Zone hitting, and I think I'll try raising the contact 1 up, thanksComment

i use these sliders and i have no problem on the offense side but as far as pitching, i went into my 31st game with the pirates and my team era was under 3.00....theres no way with that staff that could be realistic...what should i change to make it more realistic?Comment

I've been using sliders very similar to these with timing hitting, and having a tough time at the plate. Tonight I changed the camera view to Catcher 7 and had a great game. I drew 4 walks.Prototype Supreme

I have to say I am still having good games with your original sliders however I still feel there are too many CPU homeruns. Do these new sliders help with that or should I just keep your originals but lower power to 4?Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
I just finished a series vs. Texas and between Kinsler, Young, Hamilton and Beltre I think they only had 1 homer from Hamilton, 3 singles from Kinsler and 0-fers for Young and Beltre with a ton of K's for Beltre too.
Seems I wasn't getting punished for mistakes of which I thought I mad quite a few. I missed my spot rather badly and had that "Oh no!!" feeling as the pitch was thrown but nothing bad happened. I know not every mistake pitch gets hit hard or far but it seems there should be a few more hits off these than I have seen recently.Comment

Since timing is more attribute based, I will be sticking with that. Im going to lower SH to 2 & raise CON to 6 & move power to 4.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Why do you suggest this? Will I benefit more just from raising contact 1 and leaving the Solid Hits where it was originally with your sliders or by also raising Solid Hits 1? I highly doubt I'm all of a sudden gona be an offensive machine. I'm probably going to raise those two another point. I am very patient, I draw walks, and wait for "my pitch" I even get Solid or Superb contact and a Perfect swing only to ground out or pop up. I am getting really frustrated with this game. I don't know what to do.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
timing is a different animal than zone. i hit on default sliders with timing and im having a blast. playing some of these slider sets with timing was brutal. im playing with default hitting and not going back. im finally putting good swings on mistake pitches. sometimes i hit it right at someone, but thats baseball. im having 5 hit games, 15 hit games and everything in between.PSN: PrettyToneyComment
