You don't even have to aim with the left stick, you can still make contact. It's timing hitting with the left stick to aim your swing towards the zone where the ball is. You are rewarded if you aim for the zone and time your swing well.

I 100% recommend that anyone playing on Timing makes the switch to zone immediately. I tried Timing and I got much better results and hit variety using Zone

Eager to see your results. What are your thoughts on BB by the Human pitcher. I'm considering lowering control for the HUM as I'm usually seeing only 1 BB for my pitchers, regardless of starter. In over 20 games using these the most BB i've issued is 2. Now I do like to hang around the strike zone but sometimes I'd like to feel like i just lost it and can't find the zone. I really like how the CPU has this issue sometimes, particularly with 4 and 5 starters

To improve walk numbers for HUM pitchers, try using "Classic" Pitching. Much less control over where the ball crosses the plate than with meter or analog IMO. You tend to be able to time the meter or analog stick after using them for a while, whereas with classic pitching, you just pick your pitch and throw it.

            TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

            Game #5 of The Season

The Red Sox jumped all over Indians starter Mitch Talbot early as Adrian Gonzalez hit a 2-run HR in the 1st inning to give Boston a quick 2-0 lead. The Sox put 4 more runs on the board in the 3rd innning by stringing together base hits and had a comfortable 6-0 lead. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched excellent in his 1st start of the season as he held the Inidans to 1 run over 7 innings of work with the only blemish being a Shin Soo Choo solo HR in the 4th inning. Kevin Youkilis out the game away with a 3-run HR in the top of the 9th to extend the Boston lead to 9-1. Cleveland went down quietly in the 9th and the Red Sox win the game to improve to 2-3 on the season.

The problem with classic is it's basically all luck. I want to be able to make a good pitch when I need to. I use meter and I still get scored upon and walk guys. When I hang a pitch, I want it to be my fault and when I am pitching well I want it to be because I am doing well.

With classic it's just select a pitch, set the marker and hope it goes where you want it.

There is no right or wrong but Classic is more simulation based.I dont think its luck, i think there is a number of factors, your pitchers confidence in the pitch, his pitch ratings, control ratings etc. Analog or meter is more arcade like, in another words if your better on the stick than somebody else, you have an advantage. With classic its all about the pitcher, situation and ratings. Its all personal preference just my opinion

Agreed. I always use Classic. When I use Meter it becomes too easy for me after 5-10 games. TNK i'm glad you're trying contact at 6 and power at 4. I want to see more of those just barely out of the park home runs turn into doubles. My double and home run totals were even after nearly 50 games.

I also noticed that even though my team era was hovering around 5 my pitchers weren't letting up a lot of hits. Most of the cpu runs were coming off homers.

I don't know how you guys do it ....

[1] Lower offense by reducing SH to 2 (this is what I have it at also)
                      [2] But increase pitcher consistency.

You lower offense and increase pitching, and the result is that after 7 games using the Royals (yes, the Royals), they play like the Phillies.

When you lower SH, you have to increase Power (IMO, to 7) otherwise it's just far too easy to dominate the game with poor pitching staffs.

                      Solid Hits reduced, power increased.

My preference is to lower control and consistency to 4 and 3 as well, in order for the pitching charts/maps to look much more realistic instead of like a "frame" ... where they pitch only around the border. I know the goal is probably to ge tmore walks, but I have not found that to be the case.

                      Just voicing my opinion.

If you try classic pitching with ball marker off and no vibration you will walk more batters and get hit more frequently and harder because it is much harder to nibble accurately. Like a real pitcher you throw in a general vicinity, not as precise a location.

Do not raise power my friend. It will become a game decided on what team hit more home runs. From my experience raising Solid Hits will improve both you and the cpu hitting drastically.

Try it out and play the cpu on HOF or All star default. You'll proably get smacked around

I am outhitting the computer every game by 4-5 hits but still losing. I hit about 8-9 singles per game and 2 doubles. All of these hits and Im only averaging about 1-2 runs per game.

My hitting feeback will be "superb" and "perfect" and It will just be a routine fly ball. Meanwhile the computer will hit a screamer with normal contact and late timing. I just dont understand.

I played 20 games and Im 6-14 with the Mets. Im starting to think the Mets are supposed to be terrible no matter what.

I want to see more of those just barely out of the park home runs turn into doubles. My double and home run totals were even after nearly 50 games.

I also noticed that even though my team era was hovering around 5 my pitchers weren't letting up a lot of hits. Most of the cpu runs were coming off homers.

Is contact @ 6 & power @ 4 a update or a test? With the set thats posted on page on I lead the league in homers but 29th in batting avg. (through 19 games).
