Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Getting my *** kicked on these so far, but I really think the CPU Manager Hook is too low. Although the pitchers I have been facing have been winning, in 4 consecutive games, the CPU has let their pitcher throw 125-145 pitches and go well beyond the empty energy bar. Most of these pitchers appear gassed in the 6th or 7th, and they keep pitching through the 8th, and usually into and through the 9th. I turned it up a notch and hopefully will see pitchers getting pulled with 100+ pitches in just 6 innings. Maybe not pulled immediately, but they shouldn't be left in, especially with large leads. Let the bullpen finish the job.
If they are on the empty energy bar their control should be terrible and you should be able to sit back and just walk about every batter...Comment

Okay.... I lowered pitch speed down to 3. I hated to do it, but I figured I would see if it made that much of a difference. Seems like it did. Only got 8 hits but 6 of them were for extra bases. 3 double's, a triple and 2 homers. I'll try it for a few more game and see how it goes.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Maybe it's my ego, but I feel like TIMING is just a notch below playing with Guess Pitch ON...I can't do it. I've stuck with zone hitting with these sliders and the only other change I made was to CPU pitcher consistency, dropping it to 3.
I'm seeing a wide variety of low scoring games to high scoring games and everything in between.
It's been stated before, but it cannot be emphasized enough. Patience at the plate generally leads to more offensive output, just like in real life. Of course sometimes a pitcher is just so dominant you can hardly muster a hit, but again, this is just like real life.
I love this game!Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
From my own personal experience, I have a hard time catching up to the high heat or getting solid contact at inside pitches, so I either take those pitches earlier in the count, or if I have 2 strikes and need to protect I'll use a contact swing and not adjust the zone. Alot of times you can foul off a few or you may just roll one over to an infielder, which I think is very realistic.
Low in the zone or pitches away is where I find my success at the plate, of course the occassional curveball that hangs right over the plate is always nice too.
If you can really work the count and get the starting pitcher to throw between 15-25 pitches an inning, you'll find that they start throwing more hittable strikes in the middle innings.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I did make one other change, I pitch on Hall of Fame level to make it a bit more challenging.Last edited by merg311; 04-17-2012, 11:38 PM.Comment

TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
TAMPA BAY RAYS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #10 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jeff Niemann vs. Daniel Bard)
The Rays loaded the bases with 1 out in the top of the 1st for Luke Scott and he delivered a grand slam opposite way to LF to stake Tampa to an early 4-0 lead. The Red Sox answered right back in the bottom of the 1st as Ellsbury singled to lead off the inning, stole 2nd base and then Dustin Pedroia crushed a slider from Niemann 417 feet over the green monster for a HR to cut the lead to 4-2. Niemann was injured throwing a pitch to Ortiz who reached on a throwing error and had to leave the game as Wade Davis was called upon to relieve him in the 1st inning. The Red Sox stranded Ellsbury at 3rd base to end the 3rd inning and both pitchers seemed to be settling in as the score was 4-2 Tampa after 3 innings. Jarrod Saltalamacchia tripled in the bottom of the 4th as BJ Upton just missed as he dove for the ball but Nick Punto struck out looking to end the inning and we would go to the 5th inning with Tampa leading 4-2. Bard got Matt Joyce to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end the top of the 5th. Evan Longoria led off the top of the 6th with a solo HR that was an absolute bomb to CF to make it 5-2. Burke Badenhop relieved Wade Davis to begin the bottom of the 6th and issued a 4 pitch leadoff walk to Adrian Gonzalez but rebounded by getting Ortiz to ground into a 4-6-3 double play and got out of the inning unscathed with Tampa still leading 5-2 after 6 innings. Michael Bowden came on in relief of Bard to pitch the 7th and allowed a double to Molina but escaped the inning without allowing a run. Joel Peralta was dominant in the bottom of the 7th as he struck out Punto, Repko and Aviles in order to send the game to the 8th with the Rays leading 5-2. Bowden pitched a 1-2-3 8th for Boston as he retired Joyce, Longoria and Pena to keep the Sox within striking distance. Jake McGee came out of the pen to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Tampa and got the 1st two outs before back to back singles by Gonzalez and Ortiz brought the tying run to the plate and Bobby Valentine brought in Kevin Youkilis to pinch hit for Ryan Sweeney hoping Youkilis could get a hold of one and tie the game. Youkilis got a fastball and drove it to CF but BJ Upton was able to track the ball down in the deepest part of the ballpark just in front of the 420 foot marker in the CF triangle for a loud out to end the inning and send the game to the 9th inning with Tampa leading 5-2. Scott Atchison was called on to pitch the top of the 9th for Boston and he surrendered a 2 out RBI double off the wall to Molina that scored Brignac to extend the Rays lead to 6-2. McGee would remain in the game for the bottom of the 9th as he looked to close out the game for Tampa and retired the side in order as the Rays avoid the sweep by virtue of a 6-2 victory on Patriots Day in Boston.
* Wade Davis was the hero of the game as he came on in relief in the 1st inning after the injury to Jeff Niemann and shut the Red Sox down in 4.2 innings of relief, scattering 3 hits and allowing 0 runs while striking out 6 batters
* Jeff Niemann is only expected to miss a few days with a shoulder injury and will not need to go to the DL for Tampa
* Dustin Pedroia has been hot for the Red Sox as he has 4 HR and 11 RBI in the 1st 10 games of the season
* The Red Sox record is even at 5-5 and they will welcome the Texas Rangers to Fenway for a quick 2 game series starting tomorrow.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Myself, I generally leave it in the middle about 60% of my swings and only aim when I KNOW I NEED TO GO WITH THE PARTICULAR PITCH.....if the pitch is low, you should be aiming low with the pitch and you will notice the difference in your contact when you do.Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
lost the last 7 in a row using these sliders which is fine it happens, but it has been due to the cheap cpu comeback.
7 games in a row and in each game I was up in the 6th/7th and all of a sudden they go on their rampage until they lead by 2-3 runs. It ALWAYS starts with an error by an infielder on a routine ground ball. i have tried changing pitchers, walking guys to break up the onslaught, everything and it always plays out the same.
what slider is it that effects this cpu comeback? i dont mind losing in video games because its realistic, but this is ridiculous. i know nhl 12 the cpu difficulty adjustment slider causes the cpu to have cheap, late game comebacks you cant stop, but is there a specific slider in MLB 12 that effects this?Comment
