I was a timing guy for the longest time. But I feel like there is a lot more hit variety with zone hitting. Seems like with timing everything was a pop up or a line drive right at someone. You can also hit for more power with zone hitting...something I struggled with in regards to timing hitting.

Idk man... I've been playing on Timing since TNK updated... I'm getting a good variety of hits...

HR's (even with guys with lower rated power numbers)
2B's (down the line and in the gap's)
And a few 3B's sprinkled in.

With solid hits down, it accomplishes the bloop singles and things because the odds of getting great contact on the ball are less. I think TNK's sliders work well for timing.

For whoever said Timing is like Guess Pitch is crazy! Timing was the first way of playing the game, zone hitting wasn't even an option! LOL. With zone hitting you can become too good and use the vision to hit all the time. With timing, you can become great but it doesn't matter if your batter stinks.

This helped in the first game I played with my Yankees against the orioles. I won 6-4 but they had 13 hits and were tough outs.

love these sliders only thing different is i use pure analog for the hitting & pulse pitching. does it make a difference if use those instead of meter and timing with these sliders?

question about "pitch callout" i had it FULL this whole time and i just changed it to SIMPLE. is it me or does it make hitting harder?

Tank, are you still using timing or did you go back to zone? After watching the hitting tutorial on YouTube, I tried using his method of hitting. Granted I am playing veteran hitting and all star pitching but am having decent results. I have contact, timing and solid hits at 6.

Moving the PCI is definitely harder and I am noticing I am swinging late almost every fastball.

Good game here. Good variety of hits and 8 walks between both teams. For those struggling, I can't stress enough how patience is your best friend in this game! I walked 5 times and had deep counts in almost every at-bat. I made Joe Wieland throw around 90 pitches in 5 innings. If you are patient you WILL get good pitches to hit.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

im really digging the sliders.... the only thing i changed was (zone hitting), i bumped up the solid hits 1 for both computer and myself, i also bumped up fielding errors, throwing errors, and fielder arm strength 1, and finally i have fielder reaction at 3... other then that i kept them exactly the same. Anybody want to chime in on my minor tweaks?

                        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #13 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Ivan Nova vs. Clay Buchholz)

The Red Sox and Yankees square off for the 1st time in the 2012 season as they kick off a 3 game series at Fenway. The slumping Red Sox look to turn things around as they currently sit at 5-7 on the season. The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the 3rd inning before the Red Sox offense went to work as back to back doubles by Saltalamacchia and Mike Aviles to lead off the inning produced the 1st run of the game to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Ellsbury singled to setup runners at the corners with nobody out and then Pedroia grounded out to knock in Aviles and make it 2-0. Kevin Youkilis picked up an RBI single to LF to make it 3-0 after 3 innings of play. The Yankees got on the board in the top of the 4th when Cody Ross dropped a fly ball to LF with 1 out allowing Jeter to score and cut the lead to 3-1. Teixeira singled to LF to drive in a run to make it 3-2. Buchholz escaped further damage as he struck out Ibanez to end the inning with runners on 2nd & 3rd and we would move to the bottom of the 4th with Boston leading 3-2. The Yankees went right back to work in the top of the 5th as Brett Gardner hit an RBI triple to tie the game 3-3 with 0 outs. Granderson would ground out to SS and Gardner came in to score to give New York a 4-3 lead. Nova got into a groove and held the Red Sox off the board through 6 innings as New York was holding on to the lead at 4-3. Vicente Padilla pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th for Boston. Nova remained in the game to begin the bottom of the 7th and allowed a leadoff single to Cody Ross to begin the inning and Joe Girardi would come to the mound and bring lefty Boone Logan out of the bullpen. Ryan Sweeney moved Ross over into scoring position as he grounded out for the 1st out. Jarrod Saltalamacchia singled to setup runners at the corners as the ball was hit too hard to score Ross. Mike Aviles was up next and he doubled to LF but Saltalamacchia was thrown out at 3rd for the 2nd out. Logan got Jacoby Ellsbury to ground out to end the inning and the game would go to the 8th inning tied at 4-4. Padilla struck out Granderson to begin the 8th and got Rodriguez to ground out and Bobby Valentine would turn to lefty Franklin Morales to face Robinson Cano with nobody on and 2 outs. Morales would get the job done as he got Cano to pop out to end the top of the 8th with the score tied 4-4. Rafael Soriano came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for the Yankees and got Pedroia to pop out to beign the inning, Adrian Gonzalez was up next and Soriano left a fastball up over the plate and Gonzalez crushed it 422 feet over the bullpens in RF for a solo HR to give the Red Sox a 5-4 lead. Freddy Garcia relieved Soriano and Kevin Youkilis took him deep on his 1st pitch to straight away CF for a solo HR as the Sox go back to back and send Fenway Park into a frenzy as Boston now had a 6-4 lead. The Yankees would have Teixeira, Swisher and Ibanez coming to the plate in the 9th to face Sox closer Alfredo Aceves. Aceves got Teixeira to ground out to begin the inning and then Swisher singeld up the middle to bring the tying run to the plate. Aceves struck Ibanez out looking on a fastball on the corner with a full count for the 2nd out and that would bring up Russell Martin as the Yankees were down to their final out. Martin swung at the 1st pitch he saw and hit a lazy fly ball to RF that Sweeney would come in and make the catch to end the game and give Aceves the save as the Red Sox use a big 8th inning comeback to win 6-4.

                        * The Red Sox take game 1 of the series to snap their 3 game losing skid. Tomorrows pitching matchup will see Phil Hughes go for the Yankees against Felix Doubront for Boston.

                        * David Ortiz was 0 for 4 with 3 K's dropping his average to .140 on the season as he has gotten off to a slow start

Moving the PCI is definitely harder and I am noticing I am swinging late almost every fastball.
NO - I am using Zone.....I lowered pitch speed to 3 for this last game and I am probably going to leave it there, want to play a few more games before I update the sliders to reflect this though

Lowering it to 3 made a huge difference for me. I'm hitting much better than I was when it was at 4.

Using slider set v2, i played one of my most horrific games to date. I am roughly 30 games into my season, and i have had blow outs, i won, blow outs i lost, close games of the same sort.

however, last night i was playing the yankees, and if anyone has every played real baseball for an extended amount of time, you have had "one of those" games where nothing goes right. Last night in this video game, was one of those nights.

Some misfortunes from last night include
-D. McDonald in left field is running in on a line drive, extends his glove up to make the running catch, ball zips right over his head to the wall... announcer makes a statement along the lines of that is how you misplay a ball
-1st and 2nd, 1 out, down 2 - 0 in the 7th inning. ground ball to third base, and im thinking double play, im out of hte inning... however, Youkilis ziplines one into right field ( the animation is exactly how you would expect it to look with pedroia reaching and not even close to it )
-Man on 3rd, 2 outs, down 2 -1, and i rope one down the third base line, ARod makes a diving snag, Matt V. makes the statement, "R U KIDDING ME", as i was saying it, he said... that made me laugh

I finished the game, and chalked it up to "one of those games" you are going to have. i enjoy the fact that it plays out over the season that way, some days you are on, and some days, you should have stayed in the hotel.

oh well, just thought i would throw that out to the group, and say, i am very pleased with slider set v2

Do you plan on sticking with Zone now? And I absolutely agree with Pitch Speed at 3... It's perfect!
