Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Hey TNK, i just wanted to say thanks for the slider set. I've been batting for squat in my RTTS, a lot of line drives caught by the outfielders. First at bat with your sliders and bang, line drive base hit that drops in as it should, next at bat, a lofted double to right center. Second game, i go 2-4 with a HR and single, next two were 0-4 then 0-3 with a sac.

Long and short, i love the way the ball seems to play now. I just need to be a little more patient with the cpu pitch consistency and strike frequency both down from my initial adjustment.

If I raise solid hits back up to 5, what kind of results will I see? I guess I'm curious why it's at 3. Is it to produce a wider variety of hits?

If you raise SH to 5, you will see nothing but rockets every hit... With it at 3, it gives the perfect variety of different type of hits.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

All---looking for some opinions. Keep in mind I do know it is a small sample size and that teams get on hot or super hot streaks. Also know that playing with the Yankees has a lot to do with it. Anyway, I am going to wait until I catch up to games through this Sunday but through seven games I am 7-0. No slash stats really stand out but right now I am on pace to score over 1200 runs! Like I said, I know it is a very small sample size but right now I am hammering the ball and seeing it well with the current sliders and I am not sure I don't slow down. Anyway, here they are.

OFFENSE---keep in mind I do have played at least one less game than the rest of the league so I will move up in the count stats.

          .305 average (2nd---TEX .316, MIL .292, KC .290
55 runs (1st,TEX-55, STL-49, TOR-47---all at least one more game played)
          15 2B (14th, MIA-21, MIL-21, TEX-19, WAS-19)
          12 HR (9th, BAL-17, DET-17, STL-15, ATL-14)
          31 BB (9th, NYM-41, MIN-37, CHC-37, PHI-36, OAK-35)
          58 K (12th)
          .512 SLG (1st, BAL-.509, DET-.498, TEX-.484)
          .380 OBP (1st, TEX-.374, OAK-.369, DET-.365)

          PITCHING---no real issues here
          3.38 ERA (11th)
          8 HRA (13th)
47 K's (29th---will move up a bit when even games are played)
          1.25 WHIP

Now that I type them all I am starting to think it is just a very good hot streak by a very good hitting team to start the year. I also did play three games verse the O's. None of which had any real drama. Here are my season scores.

          at TB - won 5-4, 14-3, 6-5
          at BAL - won 10-8, 6-2, 7-1
          vs LAA - won 7-2

I could easily be 5-2, maybe 4-3 (10-8 game was mostly in hand). Anyway, if anything, use this as an example of how nice the sliders can be. Just thought I'd post to see if anyone things I should make a slight adjustment. My goal is to catch up to the schedule by this Sunday and see how my stats compare to real MLB. My theory would be if no slash stats or pitching stats are huge outliers then a great record would just happen to be because I caught a hot stretch to start the season.

PS--thanks to TNK for the work and sorry to all for the long post but thought my 7-game start is interesting.

              TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

NEW YORK YANKEES @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #15 of the season (Pitching Matchup - CC Sabathia vs. Daniel Bard)

The Red Sox and Yankees play the rubber match of their 3 game set with CC Sabathia facing Daniel Bard at Fenway. The game was tied 0-0 entering the bottom of the 3rd inning before the Red Sox loaded the bases with no outs for Adrian Gonzalez but Sabathia came up with a huge strikeout for the 1st out. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he unloaded the bases as he caught a low fastball and lofted it over the green monster for a grand slam HR to give the Sox a 4-0 lead. Daniel Bard was hitting his spots and had held the Yankees to just 2 hits through his 1st 5 innings of work and Boston had a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th. The Sox got back to back singled by Aviles & Pedroia to begin the bottom of the 5th and Yankees manager Joe Girardi had seen enough as Sabathia was struggling with command and the Sox were hitting him hard. Freddy Garcia, the hero in yesterdays game was called on again out of the bullpen and struck out Gonzalez for the 1st out of the inning. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he turned on a hanger from Garcia and crushed his 2nd HR of the game for a 3-run shot to blow the game open, Youkilis has driven in all 7 Red Sox runs to this point in the ballgame as the Sox had a 7-0 lead heading into the 6th inning. The wheels fell off for Bard in the top of the 6th, New York finally got on the board as Eduardo Nunez came in to score when Jeter grounded into a double play. Mark Teixeira doubled with 2 outs to drive in a run and cut the lead to 7-2. RBI singles by Raul Ibanez and Nick Swisher made it 7-4 before Russell Martin grounded out to finally end the innning after New York pushed across 4 runs to make it a 7-4 ballgame. Mark Melancon relieved Bard for the top of the 7th and held the Yankees in check to keep the score 7-4. Cory Wade sat the Sox down in ordere in the bottom of the 7th and the game would head to the 8th inning with Boston leading 7-4. Franklin Morales got the call to pitch the top of the 8th for Boston and the Yankees would get a chance for Nick Swisher with 2 men on and 2 outs and Swisher singled to RF to drive in a run and make it 7-5. Andruw Jones would be called on to pinch hit for Martin and the Red Sox would counter by bringing in Vicente Padilla from the pen and Padilla would get Jones to pop out to end the inning with the Red Sox leading 7-5 and holding on for dear life. The Red Sox would go quietly in the bottom of the 8th and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 7-5 and closer Alfredo Aceves coming into the game looking to slam the door and record the save. Aceves got Nunez and Gardner to ground out to begin the inning for the 1st two outs and it would be up to Jeter to keep the game going. Jeter worked a 2 out walk to bring up the tying run in the person of Robinson Cano and he would single to put 2 men on for Curtis Granderson with a chance to tie or take the lead with a HR. The Red Sox pitching coach made a mound visit to settle his pitcher down and Aceves responded by keeping the ball down and he got Granderson to ground out to Aviles at SS to end the game and record his 5th save as the Red Sox win 7-5 and take 2 out of the 3 from the Yankees.

              * Kevin Youkilis broke out of his slump in a big way in the 3 game series against the Yankees by hitting 4 HR and 10 RBI and raise his average back to .200 on the season

              * David Ortiz is in a big slump as he is hitting just .121 on the season as he can not solve "The Ortiz shift" and it seems that every time he hits the ball ahrd it is right at somebody.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

First off i'd like to thank TNK for his hard work and putting out a great set of sliders.

Ok, I was wondering if I could get some help, like some of you I too am using Zone + Analog for batting. I've been noticing that about 60 to 70% of the time when I use the left stick to move the cursor the cursor does not move? and if I can fix this I believe I could get much better results in my batting.

I have PCI turned off, and I have the overlay on, so after my swings it shows were the pitch was and where my cursor was and most of the time it just stays dead center. Is anyone else having this issue? is there a setting to adjust the sensitivity to make it more responsive?

                thanks
                ulua

So true. Last night in my RTTS i'm down in the count against Sabathia and hitting for contact. I take a fastball the other way for a bloop single, i never saw that with the slider at 5. This set is amazing.

Is anyone using these with zone hitting? Would you consider that realistic? It still takes into account how "good" the player is.

I'm 5-1 thus far with the Cubs. 4 of our wins, and our only loss, were by 1 run.

I used to really like how timing was used because it took into account the players' skills. However, isn't timing a skill too that the player should then independtly posess?

I sort of feeling like it gives me a chance to be "the hitting coach" haha.

I'm using these with zone hitting, and though only 3 games into my season (played a lot of exhibition games), I've been getting very good results. Had a 6-3 win, 9-6 loss, and 2-0 win. Hitting and pitching stats have looked good also through the first three games.

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ MINNESOTA TWINS
GAME #16 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jon Lester vs. Francisco Liriano)

The Red Sox travel to Minnesota to begin a 3 game set with the Twins. Minnesota had runners at 2nd & 3rd with 1 out in the bottom of the 1st but Lester wiggled out of trouble as he got Mourneau to pop out and Willingham to fly out to end the inning. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning as Jarrod Saltalamacchia crushed a 3-run HR 435 feet to CF to give Boston a 3-0 lead. Lester got Justin Mourneau to pop out with Mauer in scoring position to end the bottom of the 3rd inning and the Red Sox had a 3-0 lead through 3 innings. Liriano and Lester both got into grooves on the mound and the score remained 3-0 heading into the 6th inning. Adrian Gonzalez led off the top of the 6th with an opposite field solo HR as he took an outside fastball and drove it over the wall in LF to make it 4-0. Ron Gardenhire came out of the dugout and that was all for Liriano as he departed the game and Alex Burnett came on to pitch. Kevin Youkilis was up next and Burnett served up a meatball that Youkilis crushed for a solo HR as the Sox go back to back to make it 5-0. Minnesota finally got to Lester in the bottom of the 6th as Jamey Carroll worked a 9 pitch walk to leadoff the inning and came around to score on a 1 out RBI double off the wall in CF by Justin Mourneau to make it 5-1. Josh Willingham followed with a double to drive in Mourneau and cut the lead to 5-2. Lester was able to settle down and get out of the inning as the Red Sox would take a 5-2 lead into the 7th inning. Matt Maloney came on to pitch the top of the 7th for Minnesota and Saltalamacchia and Punto singled to start the inning before Ellsbury bunted them over to 2nd & 3rd. Maloney issued an intentional walk to Pedroia to load the bases with 1 out for Adrian Gonzalez who worked a full count and kept fouling off tough 2 strike pitches until Maloney left a changeup up in the zone and Gonzalez absolutely crushed the ball 450 feet into the upper deck in CF for a grand slam to blow the game wide open and make it 9-2 Boston. Jon Lester finished his day as he got Jamey Carroll to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the 7th inning as he gives the Sox 7 strong innings and is in line to pickup his 1st win of the season. The Red Sox continued to pour it on in the top of the 8th as Nick Punto hit a 3-run HR to make it 12-2 and then they went back to back for the 2nd time in the game as Jacoby Ellsbury added a solo shot into the Boston bullpen to make it 13-2 on the 6th Red Sox HR of the game. Scott Atchison pitched the 8th and 9th innings for Boston as the Red Sox take the 1st game of the series by a score of 13-2 and are back at .500 on the season with an 8-8 record.

                          * The Red Sox offense exploded for 6 HR in the game as they pounded out 15 hits and scored 13 runs in their best offensive performance of the season.

                          * Kevin Youkilis remained red hot as he went 2 for 5 with a HR and has now homered in 4 straight games. Youkilis has 5 HR and 11 RBI in the past 4 games.

                          * Nick Punto got the start at SS as Mike Aviles needed a day off due to fatigue and Punto responded by going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

I have an issue with arm strength. I am just not sure about it at 3. It seems to me to be too weak. Almost no one can throw a ball from right to 3rd base, even Francoeur who has a cannon. Any thoughts?

I haven't really noticed too many issues with arm strength as it seems like there are a lot of close plays and still a lot of outs from the outfield. I was skeptical of a few of these settings but i have to say, after playing about 25 RTTS games with them, i'm seeing a lot more balance in the game.

But if anything, give fielder throwing ability a click up and see what you think.

The sliders are by far the best I have ever used. I have noticed a few things and maybe its all personal to how I or we play the game different as individuals. TNK Ive been following your stat lines of your sox chise. It seems that you hit too many homers, do you feel this is true or no? Is their any competitive advantage vs AI if you use Analog hitting, I use it because im in an online league as well and my tv has the prob of being behind on everything if I use zone, I also dont have a game setting on it so with analog it seems to aleviate that issue.
