Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Just chiming in that this slider set continues to play great for me. In a season using the Tigers I just completed a 3 game set with the Royals after losing 2 of 3 to the White Sox.

Thought viewers might be interested in the variety I'm getting. First game was a slugfest with both teams giving up 15+ hits each. Fortunately for me, they left a lot of runners on base and I survived 7 to 5. Game 2, my bats went cold resulting in a 4-0 shutout loss where I only had 3 hits. In the rubber match, both teams scored in the first inning giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead and the pitchers put up goose eggs the rest of the way until the 9th where I picked up an insurance run and held on for a 3-1 victory.

I am getting all kinds of variety through the first 12 games (I'm 7-5) and the overall stats still look really good.

        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ CHICAGO WHITE SOX
GAME #21 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jon Lester vs. Jake Peavy)

The Red Sox had a chance in the top of the 1st after an error by Konerko and a single by Adrian Gonzalez gave them two men on but Peavy got David Ortiz to ground out to end the threat. Jon Lester was very sharp early and the game was scoreless tied at 0-0 after 2 innings. Jake Peavy got Adrian Gonzalez to ground into the 4-6-3 double play to end the top of the 3rd and Lester made quick work of the White Sox bats in the bottom half of the inning to keep the score tied 0-0. Marlon Byrd hit an absolute moon shot off Peavy in the top of the 4th inning as he got a hold of a fastball and drove it 426 feet for a solo HR to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Jon Lester continued to keep the Chicago hitters off balance as he has allowed just 1 hit through 4 innings of work as Boston had a 1-0 lead at the end of the 4th inning. The Red Sox got back to back singles by Miek Aviles and Nick Punto to begin the 5th inning and Jacoby Ellsbury sac bunted them over to bring up Ryan Sweeney with 2 men in scoring poistion and one out. Sweeney grounded out to Konerko at 1st base to score Aviles and make it 2-0. Adrian Gonzalez followed with a 2 out RBI single up the middle to make it 3-0. Lester continued to roll as the game would head to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Addison Reed came on in relief of Peavy to begin the 6th inning and Jarrod Saltalamacchia took him deep for a 2-run HR to left centerfield to increase the Red Sox lead to 5-0. Lester put up another 1-2-3 inning as Chicago has just 2 hits in the game as we head to the 7th inning. Will Ohman pitched the top of the 7th for Chicago and kept the Red Sox off the board. The White Sox finally got to Lester in the bottom of the 7th as Adam Dunn connected for a 2-run HR to RF to cut the Boston lead to 5-2 but Lester would rebound to retire the next 3 hitters and get through the 7th inning with a 5-2 lead. The Red Sox offense went back to work in the top of the 8th as Youkilis drew a walk and Marlon Byrd picked p his 3rd hit of the game as he stroked a double in the gap and Youkilis scored from 1st to make it 6-2. Lester remained in the game for the bottom of the 8th and made quick work of the Chicago batters to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 6-2. Darnell McDonald pinch hit for Ryan Sweeney with 2 outs in the top of the 9th against lefty Hector Santiago and McDonald crushed a hanging curveball 406 feet for a solo HR to CF to add an insurance run and make it 7-2. Lester stayed in for the bottom of the 9th and set the side down in order while striking out Konerko and Dunn back to back to end it as he throws a complete game and Boston wins 7-2.

        * Jon Lester was outstanding in this game as he pitched a complete game. Lester threw 117 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on just 4 hits while striking out 8 and walking 1

        * Big night for Marlon Byrd who got the start in place of Cody Ross who was tired. Byrd went 3 for 4 with a HR, double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base

Try lowering human contact back to 5 & raising solid hits to 4...

TNK, do you use your sliders when you simulate the other games in the league too, or do you use default/another set? Just curious?

I read in another post that slider doesn't affect simulation, cpu simulates stats based.

I am playing with the Mariners and am 9-7 in spring training right now with a team ERA of 3.83 and a team batting average of .256, very realistic results.

Justin Smoak is a beast so far, .450 avg. 8 hr, 21 rbi.

TNK your 21 games into the franchise I see. So far in your 9 losses have you felt cheated or has the CPU just been better in those games? Like in any of the 9 losses did you think you were in control then out of nowhere they score a bunch of runs?

Haven't felt cheated at all.....losses have felt like just that - LOSSES

My wins have been a result of either good pitching or patient/timely hitting

Figured so. The only difference I noticed when simming a season with default vs. your set a few times was that the OF assists seemed to be lower in sims using your sliders.

                              TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ CHICAGO WHITE SOX
GAME #22 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Josh Beckett vs. Gavin Floyd)

The Red Sox and White Sox play the final game of this 4 game series. The Red Sox jumped all over Gavin Floyd in the top of the 1st inning as they pounded out 5 hits and scored 4 runs with the key blow coming on a 3-run HR to CF by David Ortiz. Floyd never made it out of the 1st inning as Marlon Byrd laced a line drive back at Floyd and the ball drilled him on the ankle and knocked him out of the game with an inury. Boston had a 4-0 lead after the top of the 1st and the White Sox were going to need to piece together a group effort form their bullpen. Chicago cut the lead to 4-1 on a sac fly by Alejandro De Aza in the bottom of the 3rd. The Red Sox had a chance in the top of the 4th but Alex Rios made an amazing throw from RF to throw out Marlon Byrd trying to go from 1st to 3rd with no outs and the Red Sox were unable to score in the inning. Josh Beckett was looking strong as he sat down the White Sox in the bottom of the 4th and the game would head to the 5th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Chicago was struggling to get anything going off of Beckett as we headed to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-1 and Beckett holding the White Sox to just 2 hits through the first 6 innings. Beckett struck out two in the bottom of the 7th and Chicago stranded a base runner as we went to the 8th inning with Boston still leading by a score of 4-1. Alex Rios walked to lead off the bottom of the 8th inning but was thrown out trying to take 3rd on a single by Flowers as Marlon Byrd picked up the outfield assist and Beckett was able to get out of the inning with the 4-1 lead still intact as we went to the 9th inning. Jarrod Saltalamacchia drew a leadoff walk to begin the top of the 9th and he was pinch run for by Ryan Sweeney who stole 2nd base. Nick Punto tried to bunt him over but popped it up for the 1st out. Jacoby Ellsbury then hit a chopper to 3rd base that he beat out for a single as the throw from Lillibridge was late but wild and that allowed Sweeney to score and Ellsbury to take 2nd base as Boston extended their lead to 5-1. Matt Albers would come on to pitch the bottom of the 9th with a 4 run lead and struck out Fukudome and Pierzynski both looking on curveballs to for the first 2 outs before Adam Dunn and Alexei Ramirez singled to bring up Gordon Beckham who grounded out to end the game as the Red Sox win by a score of 5-1 to take 3 out of 4 from Chicago on the road.

                              * The Red Sox take 3 out of 4 form the White Sox and will be returning home to Fenway for a 3 game series with the Oakland A's

                              * Dustin Pedroia returned to the linuep after a much needed day off and broke out of his slump by going 2 for 5 with a run scored

                              * Kevin Youkilis went 4 for 4 to raise his average to .232 on the season

                              * Jacoby Ellsbury went 3 for 4 to and is hitting .346 on the season

                              * The Chicago bullpen did a great job to hold it together after Floyd left the game in the 1st inning with an injury and his team trailing 4-0.
