LOL!
Thanks. Hope you'll like it again this year.

As for smiley faces, I don't use them as much as most people here do, so that's a question for somebody else. I love to crack jokes with a dead serious face and confuse people to no end.

I don't see any reason for doing this. What would this correct?

I might tinker with Timing slider if there happens to be a glaring issues with respect to stats... I actually don't know what kind of effect the slider will exactly have on stats, because I didn't touch it last year to test anything.

I actually want CPU to get fooled by timing more (i.e., off-speed pitches), so I was thinking of using that slider at some point. But this year I want to get most stats just right before I start adding "nuances" that I like to see in games, so I decided not to touch sliders that I don't know much about yet.

          Nomo,

I am about 20 games in (40 team games) and I am getting some great results with some small variations to your latest sliders. I am playing with contact at 4 just as you are but I am also using power at 4. I have the consistency lowered to 3 to give me the desired walks and your advice on lowering the contact to 4 has produced a good number of strikeouts. I dropped arm strength to 0 and fielder run speed to 4 in an effort to produce a few more doubles which it has. I was hoping arm strength reduction would drop the number of double plays but no such luck. Although, and this is for everyone who is harping on the DP's, mine and Nomo's stats are producing DP's at about 1 per game per team as opposed to about .75 MLB avg. Guys, that's one extra out every four games, not a major issue IMO. Nomo, you are spot on when you said that stats that are under 1.0 per game have to be handled with caution.

The other area I am getting poor stats is still stolen bases. I have them set at default just as you do but I am still not seeing enough bases stolen compared to runners thrown out. Any advice is welcomed, I am still not sure if the slider is reversed here as I am still working with defaults so anyone who can speak to that please do.

I am with Nomo that a 50 game sample is necessary and I will post my results when I get there. Full credit to Nomo, I use what he puts out and then advance from there....I'd be nowhere without this thread!

          Thanks Buddy!

HOW are you guys getting so many games in so fast? it would take me literally a month to get 20 full games in, pitch by pitch. of course, everyone's not working two jobs either, but even if I had one full time job, there is no way I could run that many games so quickly. UNLESS there's a secret I'm missing.....

I have it running games while I work. I'm not just sitting there watching, I record the stats when the game finishes.

I think doubles might be hard to squeeze out, I get a hunch all these improvements in snappier fielding are causing reduced doubles. The ball might come off faster off the bat, but it slows down a lot on grass, then outfielders are very quick in getting rid of the ball, and make strong throws to 2B... We could lower some stuff but that would also inflate triples which are just fine as is.

You may be right about DPs... in the end I won't get carried away, but .75 -> 1.0 per game per team is like 50% increase in GDIP, and it doesn't feel small given the play when happen has a huge impact in killing (potential) rally...

Are you keeping BR Steal Ability at default still? I only increased BR Steal Frequency to 7 and things have been fine... Just showing those relatively rare event stats are hard to nail down....

I work in front of computer all day long without too many interruptions. I'm hoping to move on to a job which involves more interactions with people but it hasn't happened yet...

Not watching games at all during the day, I just keep running them on Vita, record stats once a game finishes. I'm just repeating that... I just have to touch Vita screen every 5 min to keep it from going into sleep but that's about the only nuisance.

I even let the games runnings while I walk around place to place...

ok, so Vita is the key. I have turned on the game at home and let it play while I do other "household things" but maximum i could do per evening (when I don't work my 2nd job) is about 3. for the purpose of finding out how these work I plan to run as many as I can in the next two weeks...no adjustments at all.

Another thing is that you shouldn't get carried away with this. This is a game so it's only worth it if you enjoy doing it and doesn't affect other parts of your life... I literally don't watch most games right now since all this work is done literally in my background, but if this thing takes up the time that you should be using for your own enjoyment, it's not worth it.

To make the game run fast, use Fast Play presentation mode, and set Pitcher Delay to fast under the pitching gameplay options. I really haven't been able to check out PS3 version yet, so I don't know if this is the fastest, but with these you can get a game to finish in about 45 mins. That was my experience last year.

You can do a test run with the default sliders but it would just repeat what Nomo has already done.....use his work and move forward from there would be my suggestion. Believe me, you will find no one more thourough with his stats and results than Nomo.

FYI Nomo, the PS3 version runs slower than it did last year. There is more of a batter walk-up scene (which I like!) and there are some cut scenes to batters and pitchers that were not in past versions. There are also some quick replays inbetween certain innings that look cool but take a minute or so. It probably adds up to about a game per hour, maybe even slightly more but very visually appealing. THE SHOW!!!!

I believe you...I think I will just peek in every once in a while and see if anything's changed. default sliders seem to be just about perfect to me. I just finished a slugfest of a game with each team going deep once, 19 hits between them, 4 errors, and 12 k's with 6 bb's. contrast that to my first "pitchers duel" last night, and I think I see the variety I want.
