Keep an eye on it, for sure. But 4.8 BB's per game isn't unreasonable over such a small sample size. 2.5 over the next 10 and your stats will look great.

It just depends. Have you read through the thread for accuracy tips? You can definitely reduce BB's to a degree. Pitch confidence and placing the ballmarker closer to the zone will help.

Don't always let the ballmarker vibrate. Especially early in the count unless it's against top tier hitters in key situations. Aim it where you currently are, but bring it just a tad closer to the zone. This will make a world of difference.

And forget low confidence pitches in 3-0, 3-1 situations for now.
Yeah, I read the tips, it's that sometimes the confidence just goes right down the drain when my guys start struggling, and it mostly is my fastball. It gets rough when I need a strike, but have low confidence in my number one. I'll keep plugging along and finish out the month and see how it works out. I have always had a thing for classic since I started using it a few years back...

That's one of the things I like about classic vs. meter--with meter, I felt like pitch confidence wasn't really an issue, because if I really concentrated, and looked directly at the meter, I could throw any pitch in any spot on any count. But then I wasn't pitching, I was controlling a meter. With classic, when you lose that confidence, you really do start to lose YOUR confidence, like, "can I throw a strike with this guy that isn't right down the middle?" and it MAKES you go get a relief pitcher, just for the chance to throw a strike, or at least do a mound visit, set the controller down a minute, take a breath, and metaphorically "walk around the mound" for a minute to gather yourself. I like that.

H&V, I've decided that I'm going to leave my sliders where they are for the time being, keep tracking stats (at about 15 games now), and rather than pester you with many small posts (you seem to be everyone's pitching coach, how much you get paid?), put one up here when I get to 30 or so games, and have some real stats to analyze and see if I need to change things. Still not getting enough BBs, but I mess with sliders perhaps too much, reacting too much to the moment and not letting long term trends settle out, so I'm going to settle down for a while, see what develops.

Iliveforthis also said something similar about not pitching enough walks at one point too (though I'm not sure if that's still the case with him or not...I doubt it). I just don't see how that's possible? LOL!

Sure, I've gone stretches where I've walked like 25 over 9-10 games, but it never lasts. Some games, I'll literally walk 3 batters trying to throw it DOWN THE MIDDLE alone.

It must be due to all the variables (which Classic far less of than the other interfaces), such as our respective pitching staffs, our hot/cold streaks, our opponents, our grasp on how to retain pitch confidence, and our individual willingness to nibble in order to get K's.

Derelict, the more games the better. I needed 55 or so, but I'd say 30-40 would be sufficient to determine what - if any - tweaks need to be made.

I feel you on this hahaha I'll put in more time and keep working with my placement of the marker. Curious, do you have the 'warm up bullpen' option on, or off? I feel I may go back to on just to get a feel of what my guy has that day. I had it off for a while due to the fact of a pitcher getting hurt, and the guy from the pen not being warmed up. I wanna play so bad right now, but I got my girl hooked on Heavy Rain at the moment haha

Depending on how much time I have to play, I always use my warm up pitches. Especially with struggling players.

If I'm in a bit of a hurry, I skip them. But I like the option so I leave it on. It really helps feel out your pitcher's stuff.

Though it's not common knowledge, if an injury to a pitcher occurs, his replacement will automatically be warm by default. I know the blue bar is ugly to stare at...thinking to yourself "Ahh!!! In real life he gets as many pitches as he needs to get lose!" LOL! But he's warm. I promise. If there's an injury, his replacement will ALWAYS be fully ready.

Smart girl! Heavy Rain is one of the greatest games of all time! Not as good as 12, but damn close! High-five her for me.

That's why I always had it off. I fell for the blue bar!!! Yes, Heavy Rain is a dope game. My buddy swore by it, I just beat it and she goes, "So, we playing it again?" Hell, she would play Skyrim until 7am...sometimes later haha

Good to hear that Heavy Rain is a quality game. I bought it last winter but have yet to play it.

Also wisdom less, since it's such a small sample size, you might want to take a look at the box scores and see how you got those walks in the first place. Look at trends instead of averages.

If most of your games have 4+ walks in them (the walks are evenly distributed), then I would continue to monitor your walks closely.

If most games are in the 2-3 area, and then you just have 1 or 2 games where you walked like 7 guys, that I'd say you have nothing to worry about, and that your walks will level out soon enough.

I'll look into my box scores. They seem to come in bunches sometimes. Mostly with men on base, and I give up untimely home runs, too. So right after that my confidence will be shot. I'm in the middle of a game right now, then I got the METS coming up @7, so I'll get back to yous later on that since I'm not totally positive on when I walk...

Just read that "Swing and misses on curveballs" thread, and I cannot wait to get someone out on the mound with a deuce haha There needs to be a thread for pitching help with all of the links, and the same can go for hitting. I have used the tips yous gave me, and still have four walks. They were with Dickey, so no sweat. He ended up losing all confidence in his knuckler to the point that the bar was just drained. In the 8th, but watching the METS game right now...

Edit: Had 4BB with Dickey in5.0IP, and one with Ramirez in 0.1IP Three of Dickey's were to Jack Wilson of all people hahaha They were spread out for the most part. Kimbrel killed me this series, as I got swept for the 2nd time in four series. OUCH!

Well, I feel like I'm on the right track, just had a game with Samardzija (however you spell that) in which I TOTALLY lost the strike zone; only gave up 2 walks, but they were back to back, and to compensate I threw some meatballs that got bashed. Next inning, no walks, but I hit 2 guys in a row. Then I got to the bullpen, and walked 2 more in 3 bullpen innings. 4 walks, 2 hbp in 9 innings; at this point, that's high for me, but I'm glad to see it can happen. Still tracking stats.

Sigh..I really suck at pitching. I don't get it. I go with what the catcher says most of the time and I'm giving up 6 runs a game. Guess I'll pitch on veteran.

I almost never use the the catchers calls anymore. I call my own game. It is a lot more fun and I have only myself to blame. Every now and then I will ask for a pitch suggestion by pulling the RT button.

Pitching is a chess match. Before each batter hit the select button and check their hot/cold zones. It helps a ton.

Set your pitches up. Don't always throw a first pitch fastball. When your ahead in the count 0-2, 1-2 make them chase and put almost and sometimes max effort on your strike out pitches.
