Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
The default setting for both human and cpu was too small, I was seeing the ball going through the bat way too many times on early and especially late swings. That's just not realistic.
I now get more early and late contact with the timing increased, which results in more hit variety and better ABs. Being early should get more weak ground balls to the pull side and more fouls, and when making good contact I can pull them down the lines. You definitely see more proper corner doubles with that and the power set to 6.
Also, CPU contact is set lower than default... increasing the timing window offsets that by creating a much more realistic AB v CPU. They make contact, early and late when they should, and now take their ABs in a more realistic manner.Last edited by JoeRyan33; 05-01-2012, 10:09 AM.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Thx, me to i Find your choice really stellar.
I love the way you choose for realism like base runner speed and reaction, but if you want a feed i set armstrenght at 3 in My slider.. After watching tons of real match i find it perfect and maybe i could also think to set it at 4. The base runner match perfectly what i watched in tv but is some occasion arm strength is not so good at 2, i feel that in reality armstrenght have more advantage and is not balanced to match baserunning score base like every body are thinking in this forum.Last edited by ravellron; 05-01-2012, 01:37 PM.Comment

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
Well, I offically made the switch over to these sliders and I must say...they are pretty solid! I only made a minor tweak to human pitching consistency and control because I use pulse pitching. I also use full analog hitting (no zone). With that said, all other sliders are the same as yours. The game plays great, very realistic. My previous sliders (all-star, based off bobhead and TNK)were good, but I was winning way too often and pitch speed was at 3. I really like the adjustments you made to compensate for the pitch speed at 10. Nicely done.Comment

Ravellron, I've also been thinking about fielder arm strength. I based my setting off infielder throws, speed it took to reach base from certain positions. The downside will always be looped outfielder throws. What I may do is what I did in previous games, edit the players arm strength individually.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
Started doing what I had been on infielder throws, clocking times from real life. Example, timing on Bryce Harper's two throws from LF tonight:
To 2B: 2.8 sec
To Home: 3.5 sec
I will see how this compares to in game times from other strong outfield arms.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

Nice work lol.
Visually the speed ball travel from ss to 1b is 4 but with timing i don't know.
There's to tell that i use Classic button without meter so if i press and hold button the ball go faster but not much than pressing it normally.
I tryed at 5 but between infielder the ball is too quick.
I'm thinking 4 is the perfect valor.Comment

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
Hey Joe,
I have decided to give these a shot and so far I like what I see. I wanted to try these cause, like you I use Zone + Analog. and your sliders are based around that. For me 10 pitch speed is to fast for me. My reactions to determine if the pitch will be a ball/strike is to slow so I end up swinging a everything. I guess you could say I have oldfutalitess syndrome lol. With age comes the loss of reaction
If I lower pitch speed do I need to make any other adjustments e.g., lower timing for both cpu/user? i'm using pitch speed at 5.
so far i'm 1-3 with these sliders but so far they feel good.
oh one other thing do you have any tips on moving the batting cursor.
I think I'm almost always late at moving the left stick to ware the ball is pitched, so most of the time the cursor moves very little to none.
I don't use the pci, I have that to off.
thanks

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
And do you have any advice for successfully moving the PCI in time? I also enjoy playing with higher pitch speeds, because I hate how the pitches visually look at lower ones, even the fastball looks like a breaking ball if you play below default speed, and it ironically makes me play worse at lower speeds than I do at higher ones. But I haven't been able to keep up, the fastballs high in the zone always ruin me, so I haven't spent much time actually playing this way.Comment

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
You can only do it with a custom camera, which means you can't edit the size of your meter and use the generic Broadcast camera that changes in every park, unfortunately.Comment

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
Ok so as I stated in my above post, I'm struggling with my batting due to me being too slow with the left stick causing the cursor to not move most of the time. So I would either get a lot of weak hits or just miss the ball completely.
So I decided to play with the stride difficulty, I found that by increasing this setting it gave me a bigger window so it allows me time to move my cursor to where I want it to be. and now i'm getting a lot of good hits.Comment

Re: JoeRyan33 HOF Sliders
I use timing and get fine results. Some pitchers have made me wanna kill a small woodland creature tho.
One question, joe, and I dunno if you'll know since I use timing.
Do you think giving the CPU and HUM 3 solid hit and -1 on power would be good? I just felt like there's a lot of HRs but I don't want to do it if it's going to take away from the good looking hits.
But I'm not a huge MLB fan so my numbers could be off. I only watch my Yankees. So besides around the lg single player stats I'm not certain.5Comment

Hitting takes some thought. In real life, hitters rarely think cover the whole plate, and the game is no different.
I'll tell you how I approach hitting:
1. Think fastball and adjust to breaking and offspeed stuff.
2. I look for pitches in certain areas for certain hitters. As a broad example, I usually look low with a lefty hitter since most lefties are low ball hitters. You could go into the hot/cold zones on each hitter, make a note of their strengths and sit in those areas.
3. With 2 strikes, and with certain hitters and certain situations, I use the contact swing ("O" before the pitch) and expand my zone. I work on putting bat on ball. Let's say you've got a man on and less than 2 outs, you might want to think about moving the runner over. Using the contact swing also allows you to check your swing much easier.
Hope that helps.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

in mlb there are many homers during game and 6 match perfect, there are variety, there are game with and game without them.
me to i use timing, but classic in pitch, for this i tweaked control and consistency of human at default settings..
im playing spring and im 5-4, starting franchise again for new patch and this awensome sliders..Comment
