How would these work under all star hitting and HOF pitching ?! Would it totally throw it off?

Not at all. I use all star hitting and legend pitching. No issues at all.

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

Game #19 of the Season – Kansas City Royals @ Boston Red Sox

Pitching Matchup – Jeremy Guthrie vs. Felix Doubront

The Red Sox and Royals final game of a 3 game series at Fenway Park after splitting the 1st two games. The Royals send Jeremy Guthrie to the mound against Felix Doubront for Boston.

          * The Red Sox got off to a quick start against Guthrie in the bottom of the 1st as Shane Victorino who got the start in CF with Ellsbury getting a day off stroked a lead off double. David Ortiz picked up his 1st hit and RBI of the season as he doubled off the monster with 2 outs to make it 1-0. Mike Napoli followed with a majestic towering 2-run HR over the green monster to make it 3-0. Guthrie got Middlebrooks to fly out deep to CF to end the inning.

          * David Ortiz picked up his 2nd RBI of the game when he singled in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.

          * Felix Doubront was cruising and had kept the Royals off the scoreboard through 4 innings and we would head to the 5th with Boston on top 4-0.

          * Alex Gordon and Alcides Escobar picked up back to back singled with 2 outs in the top of the 5th as the Royals were threatening but Doubront would get Billy Butler to chase a curveball in the dirt for the strikeout to end the inning and keep the score 4-0.

          * Juan Gutierrez took over on the mound for Kansas City in the bottom of the 6th and pitched a scoreless inning to send the game to the 7th inning with the Royals trailing 4-0

          * The top of the 7th inning was a disaster for the Red Sox. Doubront remained in the game to start the inning and allowed a lead off single to Jeff Francoeur. Doubront left the game with an injury after the play as he was grabbing his arm and shoulder area and the Red Sox turned it over to Koji Uehara out of the pen. Lorenzo Cain singled to LF to give the Royals 2 men on with nobody out. Uehara got Miguel Tejada to fly out to Victorino in CF for the 1st out as Francoeur tagged and advanced to setup runners at the corners with 1 out. Alex Gordon lined an RBI single to LF to cut the Boston lead to 4-1 with 1 out. Alcides Escobar followed with a double down the line in LF to score Cain and make it a 4-2 game. Uehara was struggling with control and walked Billy Butler to load the bases for Mike Moustakas. Red Sox manager John Farrell came out to get Uehara and brought in lefty Andrew Miller to face Moustakas in a huge spot with the bases loaded and 1 out. Moustakas ripped a ball on the ground down the 1st base line that Napoli knocked down with a diving stop but he was unable to get Moustakas at 1st base as everyone was safe and it was a 4-3 game. Miller froze Salvador Perez with a full count slider but the umpire totally blew the call and issued Perez a walk as the tying run came in to score making it a 4-4 game. Miller got a huge strikeout of Eric Hosmer for the 2nd out of the inning. Andrew Bailey came in from the pen for what could be the pivotal at bat of the game with the bases loaded and 2 outs in a tie game. The umpire squeezed Bailey on what should have been another called 3rd strike to end the inning and then Francoeur punched the next pitch into RF for a single to give Kansas City the lead 5-4, Moustakas was thrown out at the plate on a great throw by Daniel Nava to end the inning as the Royals explode for 5 runs to take a 5-4 lead as the Fenway crowd was not happy with the home plate umpire.

          * The Red Sox got a lead off single from Mike Carp to start the bottom of the 7th and David Ross followed with a double into the triangle in CF to give them 2 men in scoring position with nobody out as they were threatening to tie the game and perhaps take back the lead. Pedro Ciriaco hit a chopper to the right of the mound and was thrown out at 1st for the 1st out but Carp was able to score form 3rd base to tie the game 5-5. Luke Hochevar came in to replace Gutierrez on the mound for KC and got Victorino to ground out for the 2nd out of the inning. Daniel Nava was up next and he dleivered a big RBI single into LF to score Ross and give the lead back to the Red Sox 6-5. Hochevar got Pedroia to ground out to end the inning and we would move to the 8th inning with the Red Sox now leading 6-5.

          * Bailey struck out Lorenzo Cain to begin the top of the 8th. Jarrod Dyson came on as a pinch hitter for Tejada and grounded out for the 2nd out. Bailey capped off a dominant inning by striking out Alex Gordon to keep it a 6-5 game

          * Aaron Crow came in to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Kansas City and pitched a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the 9th with the Red Sox leading 6-5.

          * The Red Sox turned to their closer Joel Hanrahan for the top of the 9th in a save situation as the Royals were down to their final 3 outs trailing 6-5. Alcides Escobar grounded out to Middlebrooks to begin the inning for the 1st out. Billy Butler hit the ball in the hole between short and third but Ciriaco made a great play to get to the ball on the run and made a strong throw across to beat Butler at 1st base for the 2nd out. The Royals were own to their last out with Mike Moustakas coming up and Hanrahan got him to ground out to Pedroia to finish off a 1-2-3 9th inning to record the save as the Red Sox win an exciting game 6-5.

This was an exciting game as the Red Sox had an early 4-0 lead before the Royals stormed back with 5 runs in the 7th to take a 5-4 lead. Boston answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take a 6-5 lead and got some strong work from Andrew Bailey and Joel Hanrahan to slam the door in the late innings as the Red Sox take 2 out of 3 from the Royals.

The injury to Felix Doubront was diagnosed as an Inflamed Nerve and Doubront is expected to be OK for his next start

The Oakland A's come to Fenway tomorrow to begin a 3 game series and will send Bartolo Colon to the mound against John Lackey for Boston in the opener

Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

What is going on guys, new to this site.

A quick info about me: For some odd reason the last MLB TS game I had was 2010 for PS2. I did not bought the following games and I don't remember why. Last year I bought the PS3 so this year I was completely decided I was going to get MLB 13. I know the game is A LOT different in PS3 than in PS2, so I thought "heck, this is going to cost me to get through". However, I used to play ALWAYS on Veteran. Easy wins and stuff but this year I decided "Nope. This time I'm going to change and will try to play as much real as I can"

So yeah, blah blah, earlier today I checked your sliders, TNK, and decided to give it a try (I was, to be honest, a little "scared" cause I was going to start playing in another difficulty and such." You know, typically rookie thought. I started a completely new franchise (which I intend to play all games. I hate simming games.) with TNK sliders and settings using the Arizona Diamondbacks. First game against the Cardinals at home. Boy, what an amazing game it was. I got the win in an epic 12th inning game, after a huge game-tying-home run in the bottom of the 9th. I'll post the box score so you can check out how the game was. (I am the DBacks)

Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

Just finished up the month of April with a 5-1 win over Toronto. Had Lester pitch a complete game.

Some end of the month stats:

Record: 20-7 1st place by 2 1/2 games over the Yankees

              Batting:

              Batting Avg: 8th - 268
              Runs: 13th - 112
              Hits: 8th - 251
              Doubles: 1st - 56
              Triples: 1st - 7
              H.R.'s: 13th - 27
              R.B.I's: 17th - 107

              Pitching:

              ERA: 1st - 2.58
              Comp. Games 2nd - 4
              Shut outs: 1st - 5
              Runs Against: 1st - 84
              Walks: 2nd - 62
              Strike Outs: 18th - 174
              Win %: 2nd - .741

As you can see I'm winning with pitching. Not a lot of strike outs, but a lot of balls being hit at players.

I'm having fun with these sliders, but I think I might change something to give the CPU a little more offense against me. Not sure if I should make pitching harder for me or raise CPU hitting sliders.

Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

What change would you suggest to increase offense slightly? I'm 7 games into my Reds franchise and currently hitting .218/.264/.370 and only scoring 2.86 runs a game on 6.71 hits/game. I mean, I have faced some tough teams so far in the Angels, Nationals, and Cardinals, but I'm really burning out on not scoring runs as it's the problem I've had with every slider set I've tried.

I don't need more power as I'm averaging 1.14 HR/game. The problem though is home runs account for the majority of my runs, what few I am scoring. My BABIP is low at .257 (compared to .343 for the CPU, who is scoring 4.57 runs/game against me), so that could be part of the problem, as it should be about 40 points higher, while the CPU's should be about 40 points lower. The CPU is averaging 11.43 hits/game against me too which is certainly not helping my 2-5 record.

Strikeouts are fairly close to the MLB average at 8.14 (avg is 7.50) but my walks are low at only 1.43/game. Those are skewed a little by my last game against Strasburg who threw a complete game with 0 walks and 12 Ks.

Anyway, any suggestions you can provide on adjustments would be appreciated. At this point after playing over 100 games my plate discipline is what it is and is not going to be getting any better. I think it's actually pretty good except my chase % is about 10% higher than MLB average over these 7 games, but again that's skewed a little by my last two games against Strasburg and then Chris Carpenter, who had the curveball in the dirt working all game and I had trouble laying off.

I like pitch speed at 8 because it keeps me off balance on fastballs and keeps my strikeouts at a good level. On 6 I tend to only strike out 4 or 5 times a game which is not enough. I just need a few more hits on the balls I'm putting in play and now sure how to get that to happen.

Sounds like your making contact and have good power, honestly I would usually suggest waiting a little longer but... if you wanna make a change it appears the only thing to really raise based on your stats would be solid hits by 1 and 1 only.

Looks as if your main culprit is a low BABIP, usually this is low for teams because the contract they are making is on well pitched balls. May I ask how many strikes you look at (not swing)?

My strikes looking % is 24.23%, compared to the 2012 average of 28%. I swing at the first pitch 28.14% of the time, which is 1% over the 2012 MLB average of 27%, and I see 3.73 pitches per PA, compared to the 2012 average of 3.82.

Yeah sounds like you are either just having an unlucky streak our by some crazy act are watching your good pitches to hit and swinging at the wrong ones. I will add that when I played with the Reds for awhile (back when they were one of the few teams with a sound pack out) my only offense was pretty much the hr, and the solo hr at that.

But back to your question, everything seems right for you I'd either wait just a while longer to see or the only slider option really is to up your solid hits man

And to bring the CPU's BABIP down, would you also lower their solid hits? They're hitting .310/.349/.473 against me with a .343 BABIP. They're also striking out about 3.5% less than they should be (16.18% to 19.80% average). Their HR totals are only a little high at 1.29/game, but because of the extra singles they're averaging 17.43 bases/game compared to the MLB average of 13.78 (and my 11.43).

It makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside when people ask for slider advice and have stats to go with it.

                            Erod,

I know you don't want to hear this, but could you keep on tracking your stats until you hit the 20 game mark, and then post back for slider tweaking opinions?

After another pathetic offensive game with no runs and a whopping 5 singles I don't know if the game disc will survive another 12 games to get to 20.

This isn't just 8 games of frustration, this is 50+ games of frustration trying many slider sets and having them be so close to perfect but coming up short for me. The game has had the last little ounce of fun sapped out of it for me. But hell, if I've stuck it out this far, what's another 12 games of miserable failure.

I did actually pitch well this last game, giving up only 2 runs on 4 hits and the 2nd run was a BS run because I had a 2-out strikeout but the ump didn't call it and ended up walking the guy and of course the next guy doubled him in. So I don't think I need to change the CPU offense any because I can have games where I pitch well and some where I pitch badly. I'm just still going to lose every game if I can't score any runs.

Oh and I did change pitch speed to 7. On 8 even if I was sitting on a 96mph fastball I was behind it. If I'm fully committed to the fastball and get it, I shouldn't be behind it. I still struck out being behind the fastball a couple more times later in the game, which is fine because I wasn't sitting dead red. I have not made any other changes yet.
