Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

    Hey TNK,

Just started using Willard's Hybrid OSFM roster and someone is saying based off those that they feel the reaction at 7 is to high and should be at 6. So you have any suggestions or is this a personal preference? thanks

There were just some games where the CPU was hitting everything and I mean everything and while yea it was frustrating the next game would be totally different.

As an example my 3 game series with the Royals. I won the first game of the series 4-2, won the second game of the series 3-1 after being shutout for 8 innings. Was able to win it on a 3 run walk off home run which was awesome.

The last game of the series it was like the Royals were mad about the previous two games and they hammered me 15-6. Now I haven't seen many 15-6 games but I have been seeing all kinds of scores at the end of games.

Using classic pitching seems like the most realistic way to pitch to me at least now.
Dude u just made this game fun again for me. I hadn't allowed more than 4 runs in a game in over 20 games in my reds season. Switched to classic pitching and the first game I allowed 9 runs. The last 4 games I have allowed 9, 5, 7, and 1 run. Thank u my friend!
I simply switched from meter to classic pitching and left everything else the same.

Lol, I love this game absolutely, but they should rename it MLB 13: The Pitching Duel! Seriously, it is absurd that every game is always a pitching duel! I mean I love close games, but every game of the season? UNREALISTIC! Everything else with this game though is pretty much brilliant! It is the only continually lasting problem for this video game.

I don't get where all the every game is a close game stuff is coming from.

I mean I've had plenty of blowouts for both me and the CPU.

Just now I finished the opening game of my Braves chise I restarted after the pitch edits were added to the hybrid roster. I beat the Phils 9-3 and only hit one hr.

I've also had some with the regular OSFM roster in my Yanks chise, just a couple days ago I got swept by Toronto losing the last 2 games by 4 and 6 runs.

Are you simming? I think this is an issue for guys like me who play every game. It really is absurd! I am playing a game right now, and once again the score is 0 to 0 in the 6th! It really ruins it for me completely, yet I treasure this game!?! Guess I should just stick with one rendition and stop buying The Show. There is no way anyone who plays every game doesn't experience this, my other buddy has exactly the same experience. At least the whole comeback logic is assorted this year, sometimes the CPU actually scores runs before the seventh inning lol, so I think the game is slowly evolving. Maybe stuff will get better with the nextgen systems, but I think that will only make graphics better.

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

Game #17 of the Season – Kansas City Royals @ Boston Red Sox

Pitching Matchup – Clay Buchholz vs. Luis Mendoza

The Red Sox and Royals begin a 4 game series at Fenway with Luis Mendoza on the hill for the Royals and the Red Sox counter with Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox offense gets a big boost as David Ortiz returns to the lineup after missing the firt 16 games of the season recovering from a heel injury suffered last season.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th when Jarrod Saltalamacchia launched a solo shot over the Sox bullpen in RF for his 5th HR of the year. Will Middlebrooks added a 2-run bomb over the green monster in the bottom of the 6th to make it 3-0 and Saltalamacchia scored from 3rd on a wild pitch in the 7th inning to make it 4-0.

Clay Buchholz pitched a great game for Boston as he got out of a few tough jams early in the game and got Lorenzo Cain to hit into an inning ending double play in the 6th to strand the bases loaded. Buchholz pitched 8 shutout innings and came back out for the 9th but he issued a lead off walk to Billy Butler and was removed from the game just two outs away from the complete game as he was over 100 pitches and running out of gas after getting Moustakas to ground out. Junichi Tazawa surrendered an RBI single to Eric Hosmer to lose the shutout with two outs and make it a 4-1 game. Tazawa struck out Jeff Francoeur to end the game with the tying run on deck as the Sox win the 1st game of the series by a score of 4-1.

David Ortiz went 0 for 3 and was hit by a pitch in his season debut

Make a tweak or two to the sliders......they aren't carved in stone

What they are is a great set to either stick with (if it's working for you) or use as a base and then make slight/subtle tweaks to get the game playing how you want it.

You're close - you just need to use your head to fine tune a couple things......don't give up on the game. Apply your mind and get it to where you need it to be buddy

                    Just a heads up guys

I'm gonna be away for a few days - going to Montreal to play in a big adult hockey tournament (last chance to have a guys trip with my buddies and before I become a daddy in October)

Obviously I won't be on here or posting......I'll catch up with the thread and resume my franchise Sunday night or Monday.....so don't be surprised if I don't reply to anything

I don't sim at all, and I know TNK doesn't either.

I user them to keep the game realistic and challenging. They really are just to keep discrepancies to a minimum.

Honestly I would try to find a set that you think you would like (for whatever reason, stats etc...) Then I would use that set to get better at the game.

My reason for this is that yes you can get better at the game with default ratings, however when you do you are going to find that you are getting realistic results both in gameplay and stats (for either you the CPU or both). After you find this out you will then have to go find a slider set anyway, and then you will have to spend even more time trying to get the feel for that set.

Also keep in mind that these sets are really just a base for people to use, as everyone has different strengths and weaknesses as well as different approaches. Some recommend giving it 5-10 games before making tweaks, but I suggest waiting 15-20 to really get a good feel for what you need to tweak. Don't be afraid to ask the person who made the set for advice on what to change, just make sure you have ample stats from a good number of games to help them help you.

                              I would definitely recommend them!

Just be prepared to be frustrated some times lol, there are gonna be some good/bad streaks just like IRL. That's why I love these so much!

Oh and above all else be sure to practice PATIENCE at the plate or it's gonna be a rough day lol.
