Oh I was ahead 2-0 C Sox at Minny and they yanked their starting pitcher after 1 hit and no outs in the 6th and only 69 pitches with manager hook at 5 for what its worth

??? do you think the steal ability slider is reversed as some say ?

Huge question and I think I know the answer , so you gave Hu a power advantage in sliders and cpu lessened because at default cpu has more power right ?
Yes. you answered it. In playing literarily hundreds upon hundreds of games through the years with the Show series I have always felt the CPU has more pop out of the box than the human player. I felt this setting has always equalized it and also helped make the game fun for the human hitter.

Steal ability has played perfect for me at this setting. I have never looked into the reverse theory as...this value for it seems to give me what I want out of the game.

I am getting constantly blown away by the new ball physics. The hit types this year are unmatched in video game baseball history.

Just gorgeous to see flares looping over infielders, down the line, dropping in just in front of outfielders.

With all due respect to MLB 12 which is an incredible game as well.....I can't play it right now and may not for a very long time. You just could not get this type of hit variety on 12. So many hard hit balls caught for outs all the time. Even with last years slider set (which was a gem) you still had the initial growing pains of Ball Physics 1.0

          This year......true ball physics.

Passed balls and wild pitches are superbly recreated. Really awesome.

Are there some bugs I am seeing? Yeah of course. It is a video game. I had a play at home last night where I gunned down Dustin Pedroia. He ran right into the catcher but the collision detection failed badly and the animation was an ugly moment that made you realize....hey it is a video game.

But you know what. Who cares. When you played Intellevision baseball back in 1982 did you think we would be here playing MLB 13?

I had no idea because at that time I thought Intellevision baseball was the greatest game ever made.

OSFM....around the corner....then my Yankees franchise will begin. With a slight quirk.

SCEA....thank you thank you thank you for putting my last name in the game this year.

          You have made my year!

I will create myself and my son and put us on the Yankees as a father son combo. Myself? A career minor leaguer getting one last shot to play in the Show as a 3B on the verge of a magical career year while his young 19 year old son works his way onto the big league club in the spring as an eventual replacement for the legendary captain Derrick Jeter.

Seriously can't wait to play this out.

            Another observation,

Low ball pitches are really tough this year. I have been striking out more than usual thus far and it has nothing to do with the opened up timing window.

The AI pitch selection logic IMO has become smarter this year. I really feel they tweaked and tuned it more. Right now I am averaging 7 K's a game at the plate in my test franchise. Too high for me.

I need to work harder on taking low change ups. They are eating me alive right now!

              Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders

After making a few minor slider adjustments, my record from the last six games is 3-3. Over those six games I've batted with a .258AVG, .378OBP and .426SLG. With 38 walks over those six games, I averaged 6.33 per game. I have one less strikeout at 37, averaged at 6.16 per game. Hits are at an average of 9.00 per game, HR at 1.50. Runs were averaged at 7.66 per game and varied between 2 and 16.

Increasing Pitch Speed to 7 and Human Solid Hits to 5 (and using new batting camera) have helped my hitting and plate discipline. CPU Strike Frequency at 1 is perfect but I'm a bit worried about the number of walks I'm getting per game.

My ERA for those games is 5.67. I'm giving up an average 10.83 hits per game, 3.00 walks and striking out an average 10.66. The opposition scored 10 home runs over those six games at an average of 1.66 per game. The CPU has been hitting me hard with a number of doubles and triples in that mix too. I will play another couple of series to see how my pitching goes.

Agree 100%. The best games I have had was a result of being patient and taking pitches the other way.

I wouldn't worry too much about your average K's. Last year the Royals had the lowest K% at 6.37 per game. Your numbers would rank you around 7th-9th in the MLB last year.

Yeah...I am a hitting snob. LOL. I hate to K. And they come with RISP...killing me LOL.

I am sure that will probably end up being my average for the year...which is in line with good hitting teams.

I know how you feel. I've twice had the bases loaded with two outs and struck out on both occasions. Each time with David Murphy who is batting under .200 for me at the moment.

                        Hi,
Im so close with these great realism sliders as they unlock ever imaginable animation that you dont see on default BUT I need a little help if anyone has the same issue I have without wrecking the gameplay .
Now I was taught never try to make hitting tougher by adjusting cpu pitching and visa versa so does anyone have any tips for

#1 Making Hu pitching a tad tougher as I feel no threat vs the CPU batters now hits are ok but runs scored are low and I feel no threat as I pitch smart . Maybe lower my Pitcher Control to 4 or raise cpu hit power ?

#2 on the flip side I feel I can get a hit or get a walk at anytime through patience but I like my pitch speed at 7 and batting feels dead on so should I maybe raise Cpu pitch control to 5 and hope it doesnt gimp my power ?

Thanks for any help as I just dont wanna become a tweak a holic as I play exactly as posted except pitch speed at 7 and Im gonna test cpu hit power at 5 and hu to 4 .

Had a nice spring training game as the Yankees against the Tigers. The one thing I really love is the fact that CPU hitters finally chase pitches out of the zone. That is one thing that really irked me about last year. Every hitter had Barry Bonds-type patience. At any rate, it was CC vs Fister, where Sabathia in the three innings he pitched struck out three, walked none and gave up two singles while surrendering no runs. Fister also pitched three innings, gave up two runs (one by way of HR by Youkilis and a monster shot at that), struck out two.

It became a game of bullpens as my Yankees won 3-2. The Tigers had a chance in the bottom of the ninth with one out and the bases loaded, but Aardsma struck out the final two hitters to end the game. It was a pretty sweet game all around, although I struck out (6 times) more than I reached base safely (5 hits). Of those five hits, two were for extra bases (double and HR). Detroit had nine hits with two being for extra bases (both doubles).

Good stuff, gentlemen. I'll roll with these for the time being. I really like them!

                            Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders

So I'm apparently not as good at this game as I thought I was. I've been playing in an online league on Veteran and felt like I was winning games too easily and was averaging over 6 runs a game with a 2.45 team ERA so figured I'd try out these sliders on All-Star.

I just played a Postseason mode series with the Dodgers against the Reds. I lost the series 3 games to 1 and in the 3 games I lost I did not score a run. I averaged 3 hits a game for those 3 games. I struck out a fair amount, about 9.5 times a game, but that wasn't even the problem. I just could not hit balls hard. Almost every ball I made contact with was a chopper or a popup.

In game 1 I hit 3 balls out of the infield. One for a double over the left fielder's head, one for a long single down the line that hit the wall but went right to the RF, and one for a fly ball out. Everything else was a popup or weak grounder. Nobody reached 3rd base for me in the entire game. 1 single, 1 double, nothing else.

                            Game 1
                            LAD 0 2 0

                            Matt Latos - 9.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 13 K

Game 2 wasn't really any better offensively. Had 4 singles in the game. Two men reached 3rd but couldn't get them home. Greinke did well, pitching into the 9th but gave up a walkoff homer to lose 1-0.

                            Game 2
                            LAD 0 4 1
                            CIN 1 5 0

I'll come back to game 3 because it was actually a decent game.

Game 4 was just as bad as games 1 and 2. Worse actually because the Reds were raking. Beckett was cruising along into the 5th only having given up a couple hits when he just stopped being able to get outs. With 2 outs already in the inning, he gave up several consecutive hits and a walk and it was all capped off with a 3-run homer to go down 6-0 and end his day. The bullpen gave up another 3 runs. I had 4 hits in this game too, all singles. Nobody reached 3rd until a wild pitch with 2 outs in the 9th moved runners on 1st and 2nd up to 2nd and 3rd. Yet another weak grounder then ended the game.

                            Game 4
                            CIN 9 17 0

                            Homer Bailey: 9 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K

Game 3 was the only game that was actually fun. Scored my first runs of the series on a 2-run homer by Kemp. Added another run on a solo shot by Adrian Gonzalez (his only hit of the series other than the 10th or so chopper he hit that happened to go toward 3rd for an infield single against the shift). Reds tied it up at 3. I got a run on a ground ball with a runner at 3rd and then pulled a single down the line with the pitcher to go up 5-3. Next inning the Reds got a run and then with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd, Hanley inexplicably sits back on a grounder to short, taking his sweet time to field it and throw to first, runner is safe, game is tied. I normally do not use auto fielding but I was using it for these test games and this made me not want to use it, since I don't have a problem playing good defense when I'm in control of the fielders.

That was in the 7th. No one scored again until the 12th when the Reds got a few hits and scored a run. I left my pitcher in to lead off the inning because I only had one left and he could only go 1 maybe 2 innings if I managed to tie it up. He popped out of course but then Crawford hit a hanging slider into the right field seats to tie it at 6. In the 13th, I singled with Hanley and stole 2nd, moved him to 3rd on a ground ball, and with 2 outs stroked a single to center to win the game.

                            Game 3 (13 innings)
                            CIN 6 17 0
                            LAD 7 14 0

Overall team stats for the 4 games:
                            BA .169, OBP .208, SLG .261, ERA 4.70, WHIP 1.54
                            6 hits/g, 1.75 runs/g (all 7 runs in game 3), 0.75 HR/g (all 3 HR in game 3), 1.25 BB/g, 8.5 K/g batting, 2.75 BB/g, 8.5 K/g pitching. Take out the one decent offensive game and the numbers are even uglier.

The Reds went .310/.361/.452 with a 1.59 ERA and 0.73 WHIP. They hit 5 HR in the 4 games and had an average of 12 hits and 5 runs a game.

I had also played another game on All-Star with these sliders but I did not write anything down from it and don't remember stats as I shut it off out of frustration after the game was over. Lost that one 7-0 and only had a couple hits. So that's 4 shutouts in 5 games played.

I do not see any difference in timing window in this year's game compared to last year's. I'm not hitting any better on All-Star this year than last year and actually probably worse. And then when I do manage to get Good timing on a pitch down the middle, it just gets popped up to the catcher. This happened more than once in the 4-game series with the Reds. The PCI was all over the place, and almost never right on the ball, even if I managed good timing on a pitch in the zone.

Long, pathetic story short, I anxiously await your hybrid Veteran sliders as that's what I had to use last year to get any offense at all and it seems it will be the same this year. I don't need to win every game to have fun. In fact I want to lose games. But I don't want to get shut out 80% of the time. That just isn't fun. I think part of the problem is I only seem to get hits or hit the ball hard if the ball is in the middle of the plate. Anywhere else in the zone other than dead center I just can't hit the ball hard, and they don't make many mistakes in the middle of the plate so that means hardly any hits.

Every game I see A&S post about is a 1-0 or 0-0 game late. Have you had any that were high scoring?

I am working on a Hybrid set.

I have had some slugfests. But not nearly as many 1-0, 3-2 affairs.

I like All-Star but I also want to have fun....hence the forth coming Hybrid set for 13. I am comfortable so far with All-Star but I like my AL power and offense. I am sure the Hybrid set will get that balance offensively I am looking for.

I should have it out this week. It should not take me long at all.

Just played another, this time in our online league against the lowly Marlins. 76 overall Henderson Alvarez, a pitcher who would be the 3rd best pitcher in Triple-A on my team, carved through my lineup like he was Greg Maddux. Scored one run on a double, wild pitch, and ground ball, and another on a solo homer. Also had 2 singles. Only struck out 5 times but had a ton of fly ball outs and, of course, popups-a-plenty. Averaging more popups a game than hits. About twice as many actually.

                                LAD 2 4 1

1-5 now on the all star sliders. Average down to .163.
