Re: Itbeme23 Sim Sliders - Veteran Hitting/A.S. Classic Pitching & OCD Accurate Strik

Franchise Opening Series - Dodgers vs. D-Backs

    Game 2

    LAD: 2 7 2
    ARI: 1 6 0

    Win: H. Ryu
    Loss: W. Miley
    Save: K. Jansen

    Starting Pitching:

    H. Ryu - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 110 Pitches, 75 Strikes, 35 Balls, 75% First Pitch Strikes, 68% Overall Strikes

    W. Miley - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 64 Pitches, 47 Strikes, 17 Balls, 78% First Pitch Strikes, 73% Overall Strikes

    Team Pitching:

    LAD: 11 K, 2 BB, 73% First Pitch Strikes, 70% Overall Strikes
    ARI: 4 K, 0 BB, 84% First Pitch Strikes, 75% Overall Strikes

    Team Batting:

    LAD:
    2 Extra Base Hits
    2B: H. Ramirez (1)
    HR: H. Ramirez (1)
    7 Hits/31 At-Bats = .226 BA

    ARI:
    2 Extra Base Hits
    2B: A. Hill (2)
    6 Hits/34 At-Bats = .176 BA

    Notes:

    Two Things:

    1. Didn't like the strike percentages in this game.

    2. CPU Manager seems to be pulling starters too early more than I would like. I thought about changing this slider last season as well, but I felt that even though CPU Managers would make SOME bone-headed decisions, for the most part, they were still on point. However, I've been noticing "head scratching" decisions more often than there should be, and I think I'm going to drop Manager Hook to 3. There is absolutely NO reason why Miley should've been pulled in this game. As you can see, he was dealing pretty well this game. Pounding the strike zone from the first pitch...the only real mistake was his first inning HR to Hanley Ramirez. But pulling him in the sixth inning after giving up a lead off single to the pitcher??? On only 64 Pitches???? To channel my inner Bryce Harper....

    "That's a clown move, bro...."

Manager Hook is going to 3.

I uploaded a set sometime last month, but I don't know if they are the same as what I'm using now. Best thing would be to manually input them, but if need be, I can upload them to the vault.

          9 Hits/29 At-Bats = .310 BA

          Recap:

It's scary how closely this game resembled the real life U.S. opener. Dodgers bullpen wasted a gem of a game by Ryu. Going into the bottom of the 7th, Dodgers led 4-1. Chris Perez was brought in to relieve Ryu, and he would load the bases with only one out. Paco Rodriguez was brought in to face the lefty Alexi Amarista, who would end up hitting a bases clearing 3-run triple. Chris Withrow would get the next batter to line out to right field, with Yasiel Puig making a diving catch; however, the run would still score. Padres would go into the top of the 8th leading 5-4. The Dodgers would go on to load the bases with only one out, but a costly baserunning by Carl Crawford (aka ME) would end the inning before the tying run could score. Houston Street would come in for the save in the top of the 9th inning, without allowing a base runner.

          Frustrating and fun game...

I loaded these puppies up on the PS4 version after great success with your set last year. OMG....these were awesome!!

I played a 12 inning game as the Reds versus the Tigers in an exhibition. Both Cueto and Verlander were outstanding and both had around a 65% strike percentage. My bullpen blew a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 12th; but it was just an incredible game.

Time to load up the OSFM rosters and start my franchise!! (Now who to use......)

I don't know if it's because I am now playing in Franchise mode, or if it's just the teams/pitchers I've faced so far, but it seems like the CPU pitchers are pounding the strike zone more than they were in Play Now mode. If that ends up being the case, I'm not going to be a happy camper, as slider adjustments may be needed. Up until my last game against Tyson Ross and the Padres, first pitch and overall strike percentages were both in the 70% range, which isn't what I'm looking for at all, ESPECIALLY when it comes to first pitch strike percentages. Ross's strike percentages were in acceptable ranges (59% First Pitch, 67% Overall). However, once he was relieved by Joaquin Benoit, team strike percentages (starter + relievers) became severely inflated, as Benoit pounded the strike zone for the two innings that he pitched. At one point, he had thrown 15 strikes and only ONE ball. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated by that result. Now on top of that, I'm facing the Giants my first home series of the season, and as everybody knows, they have a pretty solid pitching staff as well. I will continue to monitor these trends, because I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit concerned.

I'm having to change my approach at the plate quite a bit. Usually (I'm talking about 95% of the time), I take the first pitch of the at-bat. However, because of my recent experiences with CPU pitchers pounding the zone more than usual, I've had to start swinging at more first pitches than I have all season. I'm trying to figure out if that's going to produce a positive result. It seemed to be working better when Ross was pitching, but it didn't have any positive results when I tried it against Benoit. It seemed like no matter what, I was in an 0-2 count with any hitter against him.

                    Just a friendly reminder:

Even if guys aren't actually POSTING in the thread, I'd like for you guys to rate the sliders if you are using them. I'm not expecting 5 star ratings every time, but the more people rate, the more people might try the sliders....hopefully.

                    Gracias.
