You hold the guess pitch button (R2) and press anywhere using the LEFT thumbstick.

You have 9 possible choices on All Star:

4 5 6
7 8 9

Pared, you already know I'm a big fan of your slider work. You have saved many a game for me.

But I think you are wrong on batting zones. All-Star uses 4 zones the same as Veteran. The only way to get the 9 zone hitting (ala HH) is to use the HOF level.

That brings me to another question. Why are you using All Star and not HOF? I have traditionally favored the middle levels of sports games because I've always thought the higher levels had attribute modifiers. What's your take on All Star v HOF?

And lastly, does anyone know how to guess pitch location right down the middle? I started that thread and it quickly died as noone had an answer. My specualation is a click of the L button but I've yet to prove it.

Are these sliders for the SHOW or last yr's version ?

They are for last year's version. If you look at Pared's first post, it was made in 2005.

I don't think I should have a 21 hit attack with 2 homers, 5 doubles, 3 triples and 13 runs on my first attempt at Allstar with these sliders. The low point...once again no walks. Unbelievable! You would think the CPU would pitch around Travis Hafner once in a while. But hey if it wants to throw 90 mph fastballs inside to him then it will pay!

One game could be pure luck. I'll play about 10 and see. Maybe the pitching was just bad.

Again, these sliders were made for last year's version, not for MLB 06: The Show. In last year's version, All-Star was the highest difficulty level and was the level which used 9-zone hitting. In this year's version, that level is now Hall Of Fame.

So anyone who uses these sliders will probably find them easier than advertised because All-Star is no longer the hardest difficulty level and only uses 4-zone hitting. It's probably best to let this thread die down to avoid further confusion.

Well... this came out of nowhere. Just seeing it now.

Yeah, MLB doesn't really need any real changes out of the box this year. Put the setting on HOF and off you go. No need to lessen much of anything... the only thing you may want to adjust is errors for games in the majors.

Any sort of settings anyone puts out here wouldn't make sense when you're playing minor league games... the difference between the majors and minors is phenomenal....

Making sliders for the sake of making them... not my thing.

BTW, some have maxed it out... and that helps number one starters on a team throw with a bit more variability... but it also allows number 4-5 starters become a bit more wild than they should...

Somewhere in the middle (3/4 of the way full) is a great balance.

This affects moreso the CPU than the User.

So Pared, you are pretty much at HOF with pitch count at 3/4 and errors raised? Nothing else?

Yes sir! That's all.... I can give you reasons why you can adjust things a certain way... but I've also found reasons why you shouldn't.

At default, you get everything the game has to offer... I wanted to adjust a few things to see if I can get a bit more out of it... but realize that when I adjusted something, it would result in another area of the game "lacking" moreso than it should...

One example... lessening arm strength.... results in hits on balls where the SS needs to dive to make a play. We all know someone like Jeter can dive and make a play on pretty much everyone except the most ELITE runners in the game... but after lessening the arm strength, he can't make that play on average runners.

That is just an example... another that I also tweak sometimes is Pitch speed... b/c the game is indifferent to it. The hits do not come off harder or softer with manipulation of this slider....

Pretty much all others are at default on HOF... and you get varied results all over the place. 1-0 ballgames... then the 8-6 win the next. I love it!

Pared, just curious, what team are you playing with? I used your settings last year and loved them. This year, I am having trouble getting comfortable with this game. I am playing with the Rockies, just as I did last year, and I think that may be the simple answer. My pitching and hitting is terrible.
