Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
For the new guys - here is a basic rundown of what this roster includes
Fully re-rated using ZiPs U and ZiPs preseason stats. Also prospects re-rated when ZIPs was not available using Oliver projections
All created and I mean ALL faces reviewed and corrected as well as name spellings and audio names corrected. No more Byron Broxton
Pitch Edits done and updates
Jersey numbers fixed to 40 man
All transactions updated even lineups done for minor league teams
This is just a small list off either updates or add ons as well as original content in the last Hybrid releaseComment

When is the deadline for waiver deals? Like what time during the day? I've looked, but it keeps coming up with the non waiver deadline."The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Hey man, here's your prototype of Drew Hutchison w/ my overhaul lol... Let me know if your satisfied, & I'll add him to the vault ASAP. If not, I'll hit it some more.

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
Does anyone have any clue how these rosters will differ from the SBFM rosters? Just wondering....I know the other set has pitch edits, equipment edits and of course faces, ratings etc. I've been following that set and thread and now I see this set. A previous post said these may be the deepest rosters ever, which brought me to the question I asked. If anyone knows fill me in.

What is in the upcoming roster? Well, I'm glad you asked!
- Transactions will be up to date. Teeds basically goes through transactions every day as you or I brush our teeth--it's pure reflex at this point. He's also been keeping lineups and rotations as accurate as possible for all playable levels.
- New CAPs that you just can't get anywhere else are in. We are talking some prospects and some depth guys who may be important to you if you are a fan of a particular team and/or have a good grasp on such and such MiLB system. And if you only knew how particular Teeds and Willard were about faces for the new CAPs as well as ALL of the existing CAPs in OSFM that have been checked and in many cases tweaked or completely re-done, good grief.
- Some 2014 draftees and the major Cuban signings are in. There was a complete list a couple of pages back on which 2014 draftees are in. I believe I counted 16 or 17 of them. It's not a complete round-by-round addition, but we like to see it as a best of and most likely to have impact SOON (within 2-3 years).
- Massive amounts of typos that were inherited from prior OSFM and Hybrid rosters have been corrected. Positions. Ages. Misspellings. Heights. Weights. Handedness. Jersey numbers. These errors numbered in the hundreds. You can imagine from a project so large...and checking this stuff wasn't exactly what I'd call "fun" lol.
- The ratings have been completely updated for all players who have Update data on FanGraphs using the ZiPS update as the precursor to ratings. We also considered things like BABIP and HR/FB% and how extreme values of those might unfairly knock H/9 and HR/9 ratings down, so we did not blindly follow ZiPS if something was fishy. ZiPS is one of the best systems out there right now and we feel very comfortable in its accuracy, and our ratings, via an updated conversion have yielded sim stats on the absolute cusp of reproducing real life stats.
- Potentials have been sorted through for all minor leaguers AND all major league players. So you won't see a guy like Felix Hernandez with a sub-99 POT. On the other hand, we are reserving extremely high POT for guys who transcend the game. Trout. Kershaw. Felix. Guys like that and only guys like that. Not every flavor-of-the-moment prospect is getting that 95 or 98 POT.
- A massive round of equipment edits has been input. No, we have not re-done every CAP and minor leaguer from OSFM and don't intend to, but all of the regulars in the majors as well as star prospects have been brought up to date as of within the past few weeks. Right down to shoes, Pro Combats, catching trim, glasses frames etc..
- Pitch edits have been entirely re-checked and in some cases, entire new repertoires have been added. Let's face it, the pitch edits and just inputting data (let alone collecting it--Big ups to Sean Jeezy) was a massive and tiring project. So, naturally there were some mistakes and discrepancies where maybe a particular pitcher was missed entirely. It's bound to happen with that many edits in that short of a time. Those errors have been corrected. In some cases Sean Jeezy was still inputting control ratings as the original pitch edits were being applied, and those most recent command values have been input where there had been none.
And guys this isn't us listing everything we've done this year, but all of these things are new and have been completed since the last version came out.
Chavez has retired, so he is not. Roberts has yet to retire as far as I know, so he's still a FA.
Mid-day, I believe. You have to figure the paperwork would be submitted to the league office while it's open, so we're not talking midnight. But, all the waiver deals should be complete by noon or 3pm EST I think. You also have to figure that the news might not leak out about specific deals until later though.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 08-29-2014, 07:58 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Looks good to me, but I'll leave it to Willard--one of our 2 resident face scholars who also happens to be a Jays fan--to decide.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

And changing sliders does NOT affect these sim stats, so don't be fooled! Some people swear that they do. Choose sliders based on gameplay. That's it.
To add onto Willard and address some of the above questions...

And just as an example of some of the type of errors we fixed...these are actually funny...check out the audio names for Matt Szczur (Cubs) and Colin Bates (Nats) in the Hybrid v2a set. I lol'ed when fixing those.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Looking forward to seeing this set out.NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves
