Been that way for 20+ years man. Probably not changing anytime soon.

How do you know Ken Giles isn't approved? Since there's zero reason for him not to be and those other guys to be approved, you don't think there's any possibility that there's a different reason he isn't on the launch roster?

Him along with many others aren't in the game because they are not approved by MLBPA and MLB. There is no other reason they wouldn't be in the game other than a paperwork issue (which is doubtful in this case). Jose Leclerc of the Rangers is in the same boat he is also missing, Brendan McKay, Yonny Chirinos, Jalen Beeks etc....... All are not in the game because Sony does not have approvals for these players. Only way to get approval is for these guys to pitch or play in a game, then the player and agent must submit their paperwork to the MLBPA and then Sony requests approval and MLB and the MLBPA then sign off on it. Once signed off Sony would then be legally cleared to add those players to MLBTS.

That's how this works. It's contractual and Legal issues that come along with it. Sony even has to get approvals for MiLB guys even though they don't have a union. So, every Minor League player Sony has in the game at launch and that they add through out the year has to go through the same process. Only difference there is MLB's Legal department signs off on it.

Yes it is what it is. I don't like it nobody likes it.

but what infuriates me isthe last 2 years that makes it worse with NO Y2Y saves. we could simply in past years grab Cano from MLB 21 export him over because he would turn into a generic face and name .. but keep the same player ratings equipment and even Career stats! All we would have to do is create his face. and if SDS were to use the same player ID his audio could get a update in the future. also the card would come up as well.

Now a player has be created completely from scratch not have any career stats so you are stuck with a 38 year old rookie with 0 career stats. So what I do is sim 100 games of stats to kill the rookie status. sure the career stats are not there and it will look stupid having 2 2022 stat lines
but at least he isn't a rookie it;s either that or sit around for weeks waiting for players to be added by SDS

See in the past we would have had Ken Giles in the game day 1 with Y2Y saves. I HATE that the feature isn't in the game it drives me crazy. This is what you should be more upset about not that they are missing from the game, it's the fact the ability is gone for us to get them into the game in 1 hour something we could do for 7 years. but stopped in 2021, and that is a SONY problem. we can blame MLBPA on the other.

Appreciate you sharing this info. Also funny how we were all freaking out about Shogo and AJ not being in due to paperwork a while back and now they aren't even in the big leagues.

Quick question for you though Showtyme. With how you've explained this process, hypothetically, could like Juan Soto just not sign paperwork and not be in the game? It just never seems to be a superstar that is not in the game due to paperwork.

Yes, he very well could do that. Barry Bonds did it back in the day. He left the MLBPA and wasn't in videogames after that.

Just to clarify, Bonds didn't leave the MLBPA, he just opted out of the licensing agreement. He was still a part of the Union, though.

That is correct. Either way that could still happen today
