So what exactly should be adjusted if we want to move from Allstar to HoF for both batting/fielding?

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I appreciate that you may not offer support for players who use Quick Counts and ive only a small sample size in terms of numbers, but im averaging (when pitching):
Giving up roughly 3 hits per game over 5 games (including extra innings) - hit totals went 3/1/5/1/3.
Striking out around 10 per game (with my Starter), including Tanner Roark who K'd 12 through 7 innings. Extend that to the bullpen and its nearer 15 per game.
I know quick counts give you an advantage sometimes as a pitcher in the count, but it seems easier to come back from a 3-0 or 3-1 count and get the strikeout.
Hitting for me is probably where I want it, although I am struggling, thats due to my own patience and rust atm. But pitching I feel like I can get outs without having to work for them.
I suppose im looking for hints at what sliders to change to toughen it up a bit, or even change pitching to HOF on these sliders? Its difficult, I appreciate that when im coming from a Quick Count playstyle, but any help is gratefully received.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I have been having great success, and a great time, with pitching moved back up to Legend, but with the caveat that I have adjusted all of my pitchers attributes, to their Career Averages, using the formula I posted a few pages back.
I want to work for every pitch, but I do not want to feel like I have been cheated in the process.
Matching the stats and the attributes to a Career Average, makes the dice roll more accurate as far as walk and hits per nine, and allows for some pretty tense moments, especially as the accuracy decreases with Legend.
You might try to adjust the Attributes to a realistic number, and then give Legend a whirl.
Even though I am not really sure how the stock 1-99 ratings might actually work, look at the disparity in the BB/9 for your starting five, as implemented by the programming team.
What are those sliders based on?
My thought is that if they give a guy a knuckle-curve, a pitch that pitcher has never thrown in his life, who's to say the other ratings aren't misguided as well?

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
More telling is your O-Swing% (Chased % in MLBTS terms) and Swing%.
MLB average is around 30%. Anything under 25% is pretty disciplined. Anything in the neighborhood of 20% is extremely disciplined.
The lowest rate last year of anyone over 400 PAs last season was 19.1% by Votto. Adam Dunn, notorious for both high BB and K totals was 20.7% for his career and has been as low as 14-15%.
The next stat is Swing % in general. If you're swinging early you may not get walked if you're putting it in play. If you're not swinging, you might raise your chances for a walk.
Dunn swung at 40.8% of pitches he saw in his career and that was fairly consistent throughout (range of 38-42%, basically). The lowest rate last season by anyone 400 PA or higher was Carlos "Oye Como Va" Santana with just under 37%.
Averages (credit: Nomo's spreadsheet)
Swing%: 47%
O-Swing%: 31%
Strike rate (pitching): 64%
So, basically, if you're hitting like a team of Votto's or Dunn's, then yeah you SHOULD be walking a lot.
If you're hitting like Adam Jones (46% O-Swing, 60% Swing) and you're walking a lot, then maybe that's too many balls...or maybe you're just wearing the pitcher down.
So...it depends..and on more than just strike %. Also...randomness. 3 balls + 1 take strike, 1 swing and miss, and 6 fouls, and a ball in that order = a walk and 67% strike rate. Not entirely out of the question in MLBTS, especially with a contact swing and a high PVis player.
For example, I'm having a high walk rate, but I'm O-Swinging at 24% and Swing% in general at 49%. So I'm being disciplined, but if I get strikes, I swing about half the time. So if the CPU pounds the zone, I might get just 1 walk, sometimes none (strike rate for those games around 68% on average by the CPU).Comment

I suggest you simulate all games for the day (other than yours) with the sim set, then load the normal slider set and play your game with that. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Hey Armour. I'm curious as to how your Yankee franchise is going? Did you start over when you changed cpu contact to 6? Are you seeing a lot of variety in terms of scores? I haven't played in about a week, but I'm 6-0 with my Yankee franchise and have not given up more than 3 runs in a game. I'm still waiting to get pounded in a game. Have you considered increasing cpu hitting sliders other than contact to 6? If so, what would be the next tweak? ThanksYankees modern day

Again...the settings on the OP work for me. I have no way of knowing everyone's approach and how they play the game. If you go to my Twitch page and view past broadcasts you will see exactly how I play. That is the best way to see the sliders in action and my skill level and approach to the game.
There is no universal slider set, and this game is about playing 162 games....and I will repeat it again. I can go a month of tearing the cover off the ball and being dominant on the bump...and the next month I can't hit the side of a barn or get anyone out.
Last night I played 2 games in my Cardinals fantasy franchise where I have been raking and pitching well (still pitching well)and lost two straight games and was shut out all 18 innings. Brutal. I was in a bad rhythm, swinging early in the count, not being patient, getting rung up on pitchers pitches...a mess.
That's baseball everyone. It's about reversion to the mean, hot and cold streaks and playing tons of games to have a true sample size. Injuries come into play as well. It's a long season.
I am done with sliders.....I have been done for weeks already. I am very very busy.....playing the game.
Good luck everyone. Enjoy the game, use the sliders as a base and go from there. Now Playing on PS5:

Please read the front OP. I have a front end simulated game slider set and then the main set for when you actually play games.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I am 18-13 and have just reeled off 5 straight wins (my longest streak of the season). It's been a see-saw season. I have had some slug fests, tight games..all kinds of variety.

This isn't football where that's half a season
And just keep raising CPU hitting sliders and/or lowering yours. There's no magic numbers or magic answers. Try 7 contact (and for more than 6 games) and see. I mean - just keep raising it and check your approach. Like Armor said, stats are as much about how you approach a game as much as the execution itself, that's sports in general but especially baseball, imo.
I have my control/consistency close to where Armor has his and have given up 6, 1, 13, 0, 4, 8 walks. Just played a game...Bundy gave up 5 runs on 2 hits in 4 innings because of walks (and a HBP), and it wore him out. He was out of gas at 65 or so pitches because of the high-stress innings. Familia gave up 4 runs without retiring a batter and he's been unscored upon until that point. Lost 12-7."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
