Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Anyone play using Quick Counts with these sliders? I appreciate they are not initially designed for players using this option, but if they slot in well then it would be ideal for me.Comment

Probably just going to increase the speed by oneComment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I'd lower OF Arm Strength first and see if that doesn't coax the runners to try for extra bases a little more. It would also have the least "side effects".
After that, I might would lower fielder speed (so they get there slower), one click difference might not disrupt whatever speed balance he's got set up between runners and fielders and shouldn't impact infielders too much.
Raising baserunner speed slider would be my last resort. I'd rather lower OF Arm Strength another click.
Reaction is a factor, but in the OF, speed is more important, especially on a ball they aren't getting to anyway like one ripped down the line. More important to run it down quickly (or cut it off), and lowering Fielder Speed might make that more difficult, especially for the not fleet-of-foot outfielders (fast guys are just going to get there faster). Lowering Reaction might mess with your infielder play as well. A lot of their animations, especially on hard hit balls, seem tied to their ability to react.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Thats what I did and I havent noticed any issues because of it personally. Now if I could figure out how to get a sac bunt down without the lead runner always getting thrown out at first that would be amazing. Ive yet to successfully lay one down yet, the CPU is on it with a quickness and always turns and fires to second no matter what. The irony is my guy, even when the guy can be thrown out by a country mile, doesnt even attempt the throw so I dont get it at all. Its starting to really grate on my last nerve at this point.Comment

Yep I do. I just played one of the funnest games I have had to date today. Played with QC on and pitching on HOF. Was saying how great this game is and sliders are really good.Comment

Nice, ive been doing the same (not HOF yet though) and have enjoyed it. Im struggling at the plate, but I think thats because im still rusty and new to 16.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I’ve played three games with these sliders and have yet to score more than 1 run; grant it two of the games have been user errors (getting picked off at 2nd then immediately following up with a base hit and then a base running gaff in which I got two guys caught in a run down) but last night was EXTREMELY frustrating.
I gave up 1 hit (solo homerun) and lost 2-1; other run scored on a 3 base error.Comment

Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I am using everything from the first page beside the following and I am getting good result on (HOF)
Hum Contact 7
Hum control 6
Hum consistency 3
CPU contact 5
I love love A&S set and the directional hitting and classic pitching clean screen (but that's why we are here on this thread lol) I played 162 games last yr and won the WS with the Nats this year game All-Star hasn't been enough challenge (to those that are that is great to each it's own) so I bump up to HOF...now I couldn't pitch with classic so the changes I made I have tested for 25 games and are playing pretty well I believe you can use classic pitching on higher levels just gotta tweak...I upped the contact two notches because good timed pitches with good hitters should not go foul or softly hit on HOF the reason for this happening because your PCI that you can't move on directional hitting is too small to even cover strike zone for solid contact with a 2+ upgrade you now have the ability to put better solid contact on the ball...the pitching I'm still caught up on I'm not sure where to go with it not seeing enough walks CPU still hitting its not like my team era (3.59) is bad I have a fantasy team and one of or if not the best bullpens and a B rated (self rated lol) starting staff ...if anybody has a suggestion on what to put those numbers to get the pitching game to play like A&S has it for all-star but with the better AI approach on HOF??

As far as hitting, I went a whole different route. I would constantly chop things into the dirt or pop up pitches. I couldn't figure out what the hell I was doing wrong. I played with all the hitting sliders to no avail. I finally changed the camera angle, but I think more importantly- the pitch speed slider. I upped both the fastball speed and off speed pitches speed. Last year I had fastball speed down below 5. This year I was literally ahead of everything. Not sure if they changed the default timing window or pitch speed or something but now that I have upped the pitch speed, I'm finally making solid contact.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
I really never thought I would say this, but is anyone getting almost too many walks (while batting)?
What's the league average for strike percentages in the Majors? I'm guessing around 60-65%?Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
MLB average is around 30%. Anything under 25% is pretty disciplined. Anything in the neighborhood of 20% is extremely disciplined.
The lowest rate last year of anyone over 400 PAs last season was 19.1% by Votto. Adam Dunn, notorious for both high BB and K totals was 20.7% for his career and has been as low as 14-15%.
The next stat is Swing % in general. If you're swinging early you may not get walked if you're putting it in play. If you're not swinging, you might raise your chances for a walk.
Dunn swung at 40.8% of pitches he saw in his career and that was fairly consistent throughout (range of 38-42%, basically). The lowest rate last season by anyone 400 PA or higher was Carlos "Oye Como Va" Santana with just under 37%.
Averages (credit: Nomo's spreadsheet)
Swing%: 47%
O-Swing%: 31%
Strike rate (pitching): 64%
So, basically, if you're hitting like a team of Votto's or Dunn's, then yeah you SHOULD be walking a lot.
If you're hitting like Adam Jones (46% O-Swing, 60% Swing) and you're walking a lot, then maybe that's too many balls...or maybe you're just wearing the pitcher down.
So...it depends..and on more than just strike %. Also...randomness. 3 balls + 1 take strike, 1 swing and miss, and 6 fouls, and a ball in that order = a walk and 67% strike rate. Not entirely out of the question in MLBTS, especially with a contact swing and a high PVis player.
For example, I'm having a high walk rate, but I'm O-Swinging at 24% and Swing% in general at 49%. So I'm being disciplined, but if I get strikes, I swing about half the time. So if the CPU pounds the zone, I might get just 1 walk, sometimes none (strike rate for those games around 68% on average by the CPU).Last edited by KBLover; 05-11-2016, 12:34 AM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
