I only noticed one change in hitting from release day. They absolutely eased down solid contact and power. It was slight.

I gauged that playing over 100 games easy. I had a huge sample size across multiple franchises, rosters and seasons (check my signature).

I was fine with power and solid hits at 5, but I missed that out of the box pop and simply clicking those two sliders to 6 gave me that feeling again, but more importantly made the CPU even better and more challenging.

I agree with you......the incredible range of opinions on hitting this year has been nothing short of mind boggling.

Hitting IMO has never been this good on The Show. I am still seeing new stuff in the way of hit types and fielding animations and I am almost in September now of my 2017 Yankees franchise.

Just a tremendous job by SDS this year in the way of gameplay improvement. I have said many times in this thread but I will say it again.

This is the first true next gen baseball game. Since the PS4 has dropped, 14,15 and even 16 still felt highly similar to the PS3 counterpart.

This year? Brand new level in realism, visuals, fielding animations, hitting...just awesome sauce.

I am really happy with 17.

I agree got an out yesterday 3rd base dived knocked the ball off the tip of his glove to the SS he picked it up through it to first guy running called out "I thought wow been playing the show for 5 years never seen that one" also saw a hit with a pitcher against bunt defense he put it over the 3rd baseman head (on a jam shot inside so perfect physics) because he was playing so shallow it got down between him and the LF...made me smile lol

It is not a typo. Reliever stamina should be 5.

Yes the HR distances at times were over the top.....but the bat’s were alive.

This ever so slight tweak not only get’s hitting back to where I felt it was out of the box, but it also makes the CPU far more dangerous on HOF pitching (and I am sure as well on all-star pitching for those still using that level).
My main issue recently is I still feel that the CPU offense is still a little toothless. My offense has been fine... But my lineup rediculous. My pitching staff is also rediculous, so maybe things just are the way they are thanks to my team, but I've been considering knocking up CPU solid hits another mark (up to 7) or giving legendary pitching a whirl.

I'm still in the phase where I feel I don't have enough recent results to make a definite decision, so I figured borrowing from your play experience might help, but I am having a blast, so I guess I can't be having too many issues.

The roster you are playing with makes all the difference in the world. Believe me. Ratings really matter on The Show....more than ever IMO.

Play with a weak pitching staff and watch what happens over the course of a season. It will be a blood bath.

Agreed. My last 4 games were so realistic. Valdez and Bolsinger both get roughed up for 7 runs over 3-5 innings in blow outs. Estrada comes in and shuts them down with 1 ER allowed over 7.1. Then Stroman plays the Yankees and gets touched for 6 ER in 5.1. That's on CPU solid hits / power at 5 so I will likely leave it there for now. Will keep an eye on it though for the rest of the year.

Armor or anyone that might have insight into sliders I need some advice. So I went to the 6/6 setup for power/solid hits and it is producing more CPU HR's which in itself isn't bad and I'm not really complaining. The side effect is now I'm seeing more 100mph+ hits off of "just late" timing on inside pitches that jam a hitter, instead of those being bloops, weak grounders or routine fly outs they are now turning into singles and doubles far more often then they should. Furthermore when I do get a ground out it's stung but right at someone, in other words it feels like I rarely can produce weak contact from a hitter and every game is a combination of hard hit balls right at someone or stung down the lines, into the gaps or out of the park.

With that out of the way my question is, if I were to raise solid hits to 7 and power back to default would I still maintain more CPU HR's while not having quite as many rockets off the bat or is HR's strictly tied to the power slider and that's it? Follow up to that, would raising solid hits produce more issues because they are now getting better contact and would still be driving pitches just fewer HR's because of lack of power? Since raising power to 6 (I already had solid hits at 6 prior) the CPU has hit 10 HR's in 5 games and while it's nice to see the CPU have some power it's a bit too much now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Solid hits takes a bit of what would be classified as ground balls or fly balls and turns them into line drives - it is an adjustment to the launch angle in other words. Power is basically just what it sounds like, how far a fly ball will travel.

Honestly, don't worry about "just late" timing. That is still good timing. Is there even a just early timing anymore in the batter info window? I know there is if you pause and look that way.

I am still getting plenty of bleeders and Texas leaguers.

If you want to fear the CPU I felt for my skill level I had to up the anti on solid hits and power. As far as on the human end, I wanted the hitting to be "out of the box" again and those two adjustments definitely brought that release day feel back.

I loved hitting from the get go. The uproar was insanity and it still is to be frank.

I am having too much fun playing this game to waste anytime on that nonsense (general forum) anymore.

                          Enjoy it fella's!!!

Game 2 of the 1996 ALDS tonight!!! Rangers at Yankees.

The Yankees look to rebound from a stunning comeback by the Rangers in game 1. Up 5-0.....the Bombers collapsed to lose 7-5 as Rusty Greer had a career night driving in 4 runs to lead the Rangers comeback.

I left solid hits at 5 and only increased power to 6 for both myself and the CPU and it's working nicely.

By that definition it makes me wonder if I couldn't obtain an uptick in HR's while not losing doubles if I went with solid hits at 7 and power at 5. Well it's not necessarily the timing that the game tells me, it's more seeing the contact myself, knowing the guy batting has power below 60 and somehow he's ripping it opposite field with a high exit velocity even when it's in on his hands.

I guess I'll have to try it out at some point and see what happens, for whatever reason I never even considered it was more thinking power at 5 or 6 with solid hits at 6 regardless. It's tough as the moment I put CPU Power back to default the offense just seems toothless and they go back to hitting singles primarily with an occasional extra base hit thrown in. With it at 6 the CPU was just ripping it all over the yard no matter where the pitch was, no in between apparently. With it at default they did hit a HR off me, Francisco Lindor took Edwin Diaz deep who is having a terrible season so far, so it's not like they can't hit for power at times but doubles and HR's were down across the board with power at default.
