Enjoy my man. I plan on sitting out 18 till right before 19 comes out (just to transfer files) unless they really blow the doors off with some big time franchise improvements. I love 17’s gameplay so much......it would take a massive wow for me to get 18.

I always highly suggest and recommend you employ 30 team control with every franchise or season mode on The Show. The AI is simply not capable of being competent with roster decisions.

Period.

And honestly in this day and age I am miffed as to why AI is not top notch yet still with roster management. Mindboggling.

I second Armors suggestion. Ive had to correct the cpu AI a few times for dumb decisions.
Perfect example, last night playing. The Rangers had a SP go on the DL and they called up a RP to replace the RP they moved to the SP slot (Stamina 26) and sent down a SP. So they actually only had a total of 4 SP. It's silly little things like this that just make you shake your head.

Had something weird just happen. I have set to HUM profile the Indians and the Braves. Rest is set to CPU. Checked my settings and HUM trade is manual and CPU trade it auto. So how did the Indians and A's make a trade without me accepting it or even offering it?

Armor, did you ever see this? Any insights on how this happened? Just curious is all. It is just weird that the cpu made a trade on a hum controlled team.

I am a long-time MLBTS player, but have never played franchise the way to recommend doing it. I followed your instructions (setting up 2 profiles, assigning teams profiles etc.)



2 Questions for ya:

#1 - it looks once the franchise is set up it automatically defaults me to controlling the Orioles (which I don't want) - is that right?

#2 - in franchise set up, do I turn computer roster control to ON?

#1 - just leave all that alone and get into your franchise. Then go to user settings. You have two profiles you created. One for your team and one for the other 29 CPU teams. Just go into your user profile first and set everything to manual and apply changes.

Then go into the CPU profile and set everything you want to auto (I leave lineups on manual so I can control their lineups and pitching rotations throughout the year). Apply those changes and you are good to go.

#2 - No do not do that in franchise mode (there will be no injuries if you do). I do however use CPU Roster Control using season mode when I set up classic roster season replays. The reason is 99% of those classic rosters are 25 man rosters and not full 90 man. SO you can't call up injury replacements etc.

All it would take for me is catchers reacting normally to balls in the dirt, pitchers being less apt to throw a dirt ball when runners are on third, and catchers quickly grabbing the ball in the dirt and tagging the would-be runner out. That along with batters not always realizing they should run right away, or notice the ball was dropped on the third strike.

That's been the most irritating part of a great game for several years now for me. I'd buy 18 if it had that one lone fix to the gameplay. Just sayin.

I'm suddenly getting wrecked in year 3. I stuck diligently to a 3 year plan with the Twins. I went 80-82 in '17, had a 2 game seat I n the WC in '18 before nightmarishly losing my last 6 straight.

Then, heading into '19, Paul Molitor simply vanished. I had no money to sign anyone but a bottom level guy, and it was the first domino in a strange season that saw me carrying a team ERA over 5.50, more than a run higher than number 29.

Also dead last in strike outs. It felt like 1930.....I pulled it together somehow, and got to .500 at the ASB. Then sure as s***, right off the bat I'm giving up 10 runs a game again.

No one in this life understands my pain lol, certainly not the wife.
I don't sim a single pitch. Not even spring games....crazy part is, I'm still loving every second of it.

I certainly will be a release date buy this March, but if they never made another edition, I really feel like I could play this forever.

My sample size is admittedly small as I'm doing Playoff mode and also pitch with meter. I got absolutely wrecked with Philly and their pitching staff. Now using the Cardinals it's the exact opposite. I guess ratings play a huge part as the Phillies pen based on the roster I downloaded was hideous.

I've tried the classic pitching you guys love and I simply can't get the hang of it...

Just a quick question for you. Do you the Hitter Tendencies, like push and pull or up and down...or do you just hit x or o and let the Show god decided you fate...I was just wondering cause I have been reading a lot of the discussion in the Directional Hitting thread just wanted your take.....for me I just always hit x or o and the god have been unkind...Just wondering your thoughts about it...
