Second, looking around the league as the Marlins have an off day:

We have played 15 games (6-9)
We have hit 13 HRs (21st)
We have given up 14 HRs (9th)
Our team BABIP continues to trend up, and is now at .218 (so glad we caught this so early in the season as it'll correct itself)
Our opponent BABIP is roughly .310 (not going to manually count ABs and SF)
We have 13 WP, 2nd most is Texas with 7 (all simulated games)
We have been HBP 5 times, which falls right within the league average for other simulated teams
We are last in 2B, but not by much. This will continue to climb with better BABIP now.
We have walked 51 times (10th)
We have struck out 99 times (t-4th)
We have grounded into the t-3rd LEAST amount of GDIP (5) --Hallelujah!

Most everything else is in line w league averages (ranking 10-19), aside from stats I know are on the rise (or proper decline).

I'm glad we have upped AI power, and with my VERY sluggish start to the season before we upped the human solid hits slider, I'm fine w where my HR numbers are, and expect those to continue to climb.

As for wild pitches, you have to be very careful w runners on base until we hopefully see a patch.

Getting more strikeouts for human hitters is my next goal, but that's tricky without affecting other stats.

Is batting average important to you? I see people talk about BABIP a whole lot more than Avg.

BABIP, over the correct amount of time, will handle batting averages as accurately naturally, and is a better measure of actual batting average itself when talking about sliders (the amount of hits in play...are we seeing enough drop in for hits, or are things like OF speed to high, etc.).

Ok thanks, that makes sense. Loving these sliders so far, playing HOF on default seemed too easy to hit. Scores were ballooning for me, but these seem to have struck a very nice balance. Plays more like real baseball, nothing annoys me more than see the opposing pitcher throw heaters down the middle every other pitch, this seems to have fixed that.

Mike excellent statistical analysis. I love data driven sliders. One note, in your original post you have the plate 66 feet 6 inches away when talking about view. Is the extra 6 feet an extra feature of this slider set?

That's why some folks aren't striking out enough!

            Fixed -- thank you!

I just uploaded v1.12 to the vault. Make sure you adjust pitching sliders before playing a game.

Give them a vote for me!

At least you know some of us are reading the post.

Firing up your set now and kicking off a fresh franchise. Will report back my findings, but initially I love that you've identified and attempted to overcome some of the same opportunities I share as well. Also love that you use babip and pitch data as your guide.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

Finally started up a franchise last night with the Twins - one I think I'll stick with all the way through, playing first season in the Metrodome.

I first noticed that the ball physics are great! A ball by Mauer hit just left of the CF's head was smacked hard and lofty enough to accurately fall out of his reach. Excellent. Also, balls down the line feel good and pull at a slightly slower pace than what the default settings give us. This is awesome, because out of box at times felt like they were over compensating to showcase the physics... this toned it down to near perfection.

7 hits a piece, I won 4-1. Two errors by the Sox... one where the first baseman dropped the throw from third allowing a runner to score. The second a pop up near the dugout that was a legit tough play, ball popped in and out of his glove... whatever, it happens, I'll take it.

Lastly, there were a ton of balls in the dirt. A few past balls, but still, it was at an accellerated pace.

I'll get to ten games and report back with stats... until then, these FEEL like a winner. Thanks Mike.

Best advice I can give you is to pitch cautiously w men on base to avoid passed balls. Or get a vacuum catcher.

I was really struggling to hit. Switched from zone to directional and have seen good results.

Thanks you for doing sliders for both option. Much appreciated.

Gotta admit, I was quite sceptical about plugging these in as usually All Star is my limt and these seemed quite radical with the power and solid hit sliders.
But took the challenge and moved up to HOF and after only a couple of games I definitely like the feel of them, seeing plenty of different hits and fielder animations that I have not seen before.

                            Good stuff.

Playing Directional and QC couple of personal issues that maybe you can help with.

I find Baserunner speed a bit low at 2 as I was thrown out twice at 2nd going for a double that reached the wall both times(runners were around 50 speed) so I raised this a click.

I seem to be getting a high number of walks(maybe because I am using QC?) about 6-7 a game. Any idea which sliders to move to try and alleviate this. Strike % is currently pretty good mid to high 60's so I don't really want that increased?

Lastly where do you find the Sac Flies stat to work out your BABIP?

                            Thanks..Good stuff..

Wish there was a slider for all these jump throws in the infield. They really overdid the use of that animation.

I love baserunner speed at 2. If I could put it at 1.5, I think I would as there are still too many close plays at 1B. What the game needs, are *most* guys not hustling much on a routine groundball. Certain players and situations call for all-out hustle, but guys like Victor Martinez and Cabrera basically have a snack while running out a groundball.

As for the walks, give it some time. I'm not a fan whatsoever of QC, especially now that it seems this year it's creating issues with SP usage, so you'll have to see how it goes. Personally, I wouldn't touch it for at least 15 games or so.

You can find sac flies in your TEAM/PLAYER stats. It's not part of the MLB leader stats.
