I am thinking about turning Quick Counts off until they get it fixed. I just need to work on my walks and not taking the first pitch. I guess I don't know the strategy to do so. Do I automatically look to take the first pitch? What do people do?

Game 6 of my Yankees Franchise record 3

      New York 1-5-0
      Baltimore 2-6-0

Baltimore avoids the sweep in a tight pitchers duel between Tanaka and Wilson. The patch does not seem to have affected anything with the sliders, but of course they have not fixed the hook issue with quick counts and there is really no excuse for that, but oh well.

Tied at 0-0 into the 6th, Sanchez hits a two out HR and sure enough, the CPU replaces Wilson.

Tanaka on the day goes 6 innings due to pitch count, gives up 6 hits, 1 earned run, walks 4 and fans 7 (6 in a row at one point)

Extra base hits, I had the Sanchez HR (His second on the season) and Baltimore had 2 doubles.

My bullpen only allowed a single base runner (a walk by Layne in the 8th) and I brought Betances in to get the final two outs. I blew a double play when Castro missed the bag (never seen this before), Betances wild pitched the runner to third, then this happened!

Nice close game. Your lucky you got the CPU pitcher going to at least the 6th.

Thinking of this as well until they fix the hook bug. I will probably play it the way I do 3-1 counts if I switch, which is look for a fastball thigh to belt and lay off if I see any other type of action.

Two bright sides about turning it off. I would have more chances to bunt the guy over cause sometimes you have to bunt with 2 strikes. And when you put in a relief pitcher he can start with a fresh count. There is sometimes when I don't put in the new guy if its a 3-0 count.

How do you make the ball die in the grass on a bunt? When I bunt the ball goes so hard it goes right to the fielder. I always bunt to the 1B cause he will usually try to tag him.

A lot of it is timing the triangle button, but they also added a fix this year to penalize players that aren't good or frequent bunters in RL. The only guys on the Yankees that I can consistently get to lay down a good bunt are Gardner, Ellsbury and Torreyes.

Yeah I noticed that too. And I was just talking about sacrifice bunts. I'm the Cubs I don't have any guys I drag bunt with.

With all the lumber in that lineup you should never have to bunt

So after losing 2 straight to the Dodgers and Pirates my first game without QC went pretty well. Pirates had Cole going and I was up 2-0 going to the 6th and he was still in the game. Hendricks gave up a 3 spot in the top of the 6th to make it 3-2 Pirates. Bottom of the inning Cole gave up a 2 run homer to give the Cubs a 4-3 lead. His night was done on this rainy wind blowing out night. So I think it was a little better. I feel with QC they would have took him out in the 5th down 0-2. I hit 4 HR in the game. And Hendricks gave up 1. One cool thing I didn't know. They have a little pop up box by the scoreboard showing the career stats. Instead of just hearing the announcer say it you get to see it. They show it on about the 2nd pitch of the AB.

                    Pirates 3 8 0
                    Cubs 6 8 0

                    Cole: 5 IP 6 H 4 ER 2 BB 3 K
                    Hendricks: 6.2 IP 7 H 3 ER 2 BB 5 K

I walked a few times and I was pretty happy with the full game. I turned the pitch delay to faster to make the game go by a pretty quicker.

I took QC off for the game and lot to the Rays in my home opener 6-5, all my runs came on HR's (4) with Bird and Sanchez thumping 2 each. I think I will mover power to 3 if I stay at full counts as you will see more fat pitches over the course of a game. Pretty happy overall, and Odorizzi went 7 for the Rays, despite being down 4-2 through 5. Neither side drew a walk though, so there is that to watch for.

Okay I don't know I feel you read Armor's thread but someone on there found out how to beat the CPU hook. In the 4th inning or when you think they willl take the pitcher out after every at bat when your batting switch teams go back to the game and then switch back. It is a pain but it works. Garza pitched 6 IP 7 H 3 ER. I let them take him out for a pinch hitter in the 7th with a 4-3 lead.

The only catch is sometimes when you do that the CPU makes a sub for your own team when you change over. I was pitching in the 7th inning in a 0-0 game and their pitcher was due up. So I switched teams so they wouldn't pinch hit for him. When I changed over the CPU took Arrieta out with 2 outs in the 7th with nobody on base. But it's a lot better I think it at least a good temporary fix and I can have my QC back.

I won the previous game 8-6 on a walk off HR after my bullpen blew a 6-4 lead in the 8th. Next game I lost 1-0. They scored their run on a double, sac bunt and sac fly. I'm 10-4 in 1st place with a 2 game lead. But I'm 2-4 in my last 6 after starting out 8-0. I like the variety of the games.

Pretty solid results and about what you would expect from the Cubbies. Some good offensive outbursts, with a couple of pitchers duels thrown in.

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

Updated original post with version 2 of these sliders. I wanted to get just a bit more variety and testing showed an increase in both hit variety and game variety, so barring any patches that drastically alter gameplay, I feel pretty good about these.

Changes from version 1.1 - Reduced Human timing and solid hits to 3 to give less margin for error, in test games since this change you now earn your hits more. Reduced CPU Solid Hits to 3 as on HOF pitching, even with timing at the CPU was still mashing "pitchers pitches" a bit too often. This now reduces that, though they will still mash balls you leave out over the plate.

In two games in my franchise after testing I had a 5-3 walkoff win on Starlin Castro HR that wrapped just inside the left field foul pole and currently have a 1-0 lead in a pitchers duel through 5 that has seen a the change in timing really affect the game in a good way. Timing at 3 has really provided a good mix of line drives, bloops, choppers, etc.

I did try reducing CPU timing to 0, but there was too many strikeouts in testing. Going the solid hits to 3 and putting timing back at 1 brought those numbers back in line, and as indicated above made the CPU earn their offense and cut down on the number of well located pitches they were driving.

                                As always, feedback is welcome.
