Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

And before I forget, I started a secondary franchise with the Giants yesterday, mainly because I want to play in their park, which is as cool as any in the game to me. Game 2 of the opening series with Arizona, Cueto and Tai Walker were locked in a 1-1 duel and the CPU let Walker go 7 innings on QC before they pinch hit for him, with no intervention from me. So even though that still needs to be patched, it was nice to see the CPU get it right for a change on quick counts.

Walker only gave up 1 hit and walked 4 and I eventually won 3-1 after getting to the bullpen. While we are on this series, Bumgarner was money in the opener and left with a forearm strain with 1 out in the 7th and a 3-0 lead. My bullpen melted and gave up a run in 8th, and 4 in the 9th, 3 of which were charged to Melancon who gave up a 2 run walk off jack in a 5-3 loss.

I will keep you posted on how the sliders are working out. Thanks for the ideas and slider thoughts as they have helped me fine tune mine as well.
Coach, I love using your modifiers and I am thinking how it would work with these sliders. Like what the new max and minimums would be.

I started a 2nd franchise with the Pirates cause I love that park as well. I do love SF park as well. Now on my Cubs franchise these sliders are perfect and have variety of games. And on my Pirates franchise I can't get any offense going. I do not know why.

I would rather it fall on the pitcher and his rating rather than me trying to hit the marks. I am going to continue to use this for sure. The sliders are good so far. I like the HOF pitching sliders and see your point with the stamina sliders and everything else. I am still in Spring Training and am using the dynamic hitting, I believe I am in the veteran area now. I also use modifiers that I apply each game to certain sliders after drawing 3 cards.

You are on to something with a timing of 1 for the CPU and 3 for Human. I was out hit by the Yankees in my last game 9-8, but the O's came across with a 6-4 win. I was a little optimistic with the timing so low, but the hitting was good anyhow. I just realized that I had the solid hit on 4 not 3 as in yours. I know that solid hits impact BA and the type of hit. I may leave it at 4 for now. I know that most other slider posters have it between 3-4 as well, but most have it on 4. I did add in some -1 modifiers for solid hit for both the CPU and Human to add that variety if that card come up. I also use a fielder speed of 1 and played on 0 last year and they still seem a little fast. Thank you for sharing and I would love to hear your feedback as you play
a few games. I am very intrigued by your approach with the cards, as that is a cool way to simulate the variables that come into play game to game. Can you expand on that a bit? Is it just certain sliders, or do you have a card for all of them?

          Thanks in advance

PNC is a tight park as well and I have done a secondary franchise with the Bucs before. How many games are you into your Pirates franchise? I found that last year with the Pirate I had to play more small ball, not sure how it would translate to this years team, but they still have some good team speed and guys you can play hit and run with, which I rarely do with the Yankees.

I am 6-4 right now. I been playing around with the sliders a little bit. My opening series against the Red Sox I did not hit a single HR so I tweaked some sliders a little. I might just go back to your original sliders but use Dynamic hitting instead of Veteran. See if that makes a difference. I played a exhibition game this morning under Dynamic just so I wouldn't mess up my stats playing in the franchise. Cause I started at Rookie and hit 4 HR in the first 5 innings and built it up and I'm in the middle of Veteran now. What I like about Dynamic is they have Rookie + and Veteran + so its kind of like a in between level.

BYU. I have attached my V4 modifiers and sliders that I am currently using. What I do is draw three cards and apply the modifiers to the sliders once I enter the game. I take the most recent wind card if I draw more than one. I have minimums and maximums for most categories. Some modifiers are applied to the home and away team and also for the CPU and human. Feel free to toy around with them or suggest changes. After talking with some friends of mine this is what I am starting with this year. I used modifiers last season and enjoyed them. You can check my post post out at: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2048298737 for additional information if you like. I will keep the feedback coming and would welcome yours as well. I too look to get a true sim game with real results.

I just got smoked by the Phillies 8-1. U. Jimenez was terrible and gave up 4 within the first 2 innings and was pulled.

                    Orioles 1; AB 31, hits 7, BB 2, K's 12
                    Phillies 8; AB 35, hits 10, BB 6, K's 8

I didn't hit bad. Had a man thrown out at home, stealing, and tagging up. Chris Davis hit his 3rd of Spring Training.

Modifiers were: Wind 6, Fielding Error +2 Infield, and Pitch Control +1 cpu.

Had a fun game of attrition against the Cubs in game 2 of a series at Wrigley.

Led 3-1 most of the way on the strength of a 2 run HR Puf'n Stuff by Ellsbury, but gave it up in the 8th when Layne let the Cubs tie it. Ended up going 14 innings before Holiday singled in Headley in the top of the 14th. I did my best Joe Maddon imitation and let Chapman go 2 1/3 for the win, mainly because I was out of pinch hitters and the last two guys in the bullpen were tired from the series opening loss. Had a career high for walks drawn with 8, though I still only rank 26 in MLB in walks with 90. Currently 18-11, one game up on Boston. (In RL the Bombers are 9-5 and tied for first right now, so we are both playing above our heads)

                      Yankees 4-10-0
                      Cubs 3-7-0

                      HR:
                      NY - Ellsbury (5), Judge (6)
                      Chi - None

                      2B:
                      NY - 1
                      Chi - 3

                      BB/K:
                      NY - 8/9
                      Chi - 4/12

Edit: Going to start using Coachmoders modifier cards next game, going to start drawing 2 per game, 1 weather specific for wind and 1 for random slider adjustment.

It is going to be fun this year with the Cubs playing the Red Sox and Yankees. I used Coach's sliders all last year with the modifiers. Using 3 did not harm the game at all. Heck sometimes the 2nd card would cancel out the 1st card at times.

I decided I'm going to restart all my franchise's again. I want to use the OSFM V. 1.75 with the default salaries and correct years. And a clean slate using these new sliders.

The Tale of Two Games. This game was vs. Boston.

Kevin Gausman was great through his 4 innings. The Sox didn't get a hit till the third after I put a man on, Jackie Bradley hit a two run shot for their first hit. That was followed up with a solo shot by Mitch Moreland for a 3-1 lead. O's respond with a solo shot from Jones in the bottom half to cut the lead to 3-2. The O's struck for two more runs in the 6th for a 4-3 lead and that would be the final.

Orioles 4; AB 32, hits 10, BB 2, K's 5, HR 1 (fewest times I have struck out so far)
                            Redsox: 3; AB 30, hits 5, BB 2, K's 8, HR 2

Modifiers were: Fielder SPD +1, Pitch Control +1 Human, and -1 Reaction

I did like the fielder speed of 2. What have you guys seen as far as fielder speed?

So what is everyone's general consensus on using QC prior to them patching... i do not have a second controller but i feel like QC will let me get through games much quicker but still be immersed.

You can use one controller to switch the team controller after every play. Before the batter is announced. I usually do it when the play is over and the infielder has the ball. Then I switch it and then once it shows the batter walk up then I switch it back. The only draw back to one controller is if your playing in the NL and your pitcher is coming to bat it will pinch hit for him since the computer is controlling your team. Does anyone know when the patch is coming?
