Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

Thanks for the updated sliders. I'm 10-5 with the Pirates and 1 game up ahead of the Cardinals who I just swept. I did raise the CPU Contact to 6 before my last game cause I was dominating on pitching. I was first in the MLB with a 2.45 ERA so I wanted more of a challenge. And the Pirates pitching shouldn't be THAT good. So I raised CPU Contact to 6 and the slider variables moved CPU Timing to 2 with a +1 card.

    Pirates 6 12 0
    Cardinals 5 5 1

I had a 6-3 lead in the 9th inning and only gave up 3 hits but Watson gave up a walk, double and single to make it a one run game. Right now I'm 3rd in HR Allowed and 2nd I think in Strikeouts the last time I looked.

I feel the HR Allowed goes with with the low ERA. I'm comfortable raising the CPU Contact to 6 because I need the CPU to have more offense. So you did see a jump in CPU offense even with lowering CPU Power and Timing still? The one game I played with the CPU Contact at 6, Power at 3 and Timing at 2, Glasnow pitched 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 Hits, 8 K's. I know its one game though.

I saw more offense from balls into play with the same amount of HR's, so at this point it is holding up. in the last series I played against Tampa Bay with these I gave up 2, 3 and 2 Hr's respectively and got swept. From testing it definitely seems like the CPU contact makes up for the reduction, only difference is not as many no doubters on 2 as there was on 3.

BYU. I like the thought process behind moving the sliders on your recent changes. I thinking the same thing. I am going to load these and to mine. The only difference is that I am on dynamic hitting right now vice veteran. I believe though that I am some where in the veteran + area of hitting. I will provide my thoughts and stats as I continue to push through Spring Training right now I am 5-5.

Man I hope so, only thing keeping this game from being perfection to me.

Had an interesting three game stretch today by the way. After taking the first two of a home stand against KC (Which broke a 7 game losing streak) I lost to the Royals 4-0 and 8-1, couldn't get a thing going. Oakland rolls into town and CC Sabathia, who is 0-5 with a 7.64 ERA is on the bump, so I am not optimistic. I promptly put up 8 runs in the first and CC goes the distance, Yankees win 14-0, my best game of the season! We pounded out 20 hits (4 doubles, 1 triple and 1 HR) after being held to a total of 10 in the last two games against the Royals. I love this game!

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

I am struggling with finding a fix for my pitching sliders. I was playing the Cubs last night and trying to increase CPU Contact, Timing, and Power or even trying Legend settings. Trying to mix it up a little bit. I had a 8-2 lead in the game and a 8-4 lead in the 9th inning. Then my bullpen blew the lead when I gave up a game winning grand slam to Bryant to lose 9-8. So I'm still trying to find a comfortable setting for pitching. My offense is set pretty much. I played a game this morning and I tried using Armor's pitching sliders, All Star Pitching but had CPU Contact at 6, CPU Power at 4, and CPU Timing at 5 and I won 1-0 in 12 innings against the Cubs.

Cubs 0 7 0 Cubs were 7/40 in the game.
              Pirates 1 5 0

That didn't seem to work. I mean it could have just been a good pitching day for me since it was just one game. But the CPU seemed to hit a lot of weak contact and strike out looking quite a bit. On my 9-8 loss the game before I was trying mostly CPU contact at 7 and Power at 1 and Timing at 1 and Solid hits at 5.

What about dynamic pitching what are your thoughts on that? I too agree that pitching needs something. At times it appears too easy for the CPU to hit and at times too hard. There appears to be no medium. I am going to try out BYU's new HOF sliders, just haven't played a game since last night. I plan to later today and will provide input. Dynamic hitting is working well for me right now so I am hoping the new HOF slider set that he tested is the final piece, before I start my season.

I was thinking about the Dynamic in Pitching so I played a exhibition game to raise the level cause it starts me in rookie. I raised the dynamic to 10 to go quicker and even turned all the CPU Contact, Power, Timing to 0 to make it go higher faster. I started with Rookie was striking everyone out and I played a game and a half and was only in the mid-high Veteran. My goal was to make it to HOF+ but I didn't want to play all night trying to raise it that high. It is a lot slower than offense.

I'm using your V4 sliders with modiifications. I could either raise CPU Contact to 7 or raise CPU Solid Hits to 5. I am nervous about raising the Power to 3 cause I don't want the CPU just hitting home runs.

Let us know what the patch did for Manager Hook. So far I hear a couple bad reviews that it wasn't fixed. I haven't played after the patch so I don't know.

I think power at 2 is good for HOF, I would look first at human consistency and maybe lower that a tick so you can't live in the black. It will force you to come over the plate on hitters counts and should help. After that look at timing/foul frequency sliders to manage offense and strikeouts, to raise the CPU average without adding too many home runs. Contact back to 6, timing at 1, FF at 1 to start. In my testing these sliders had a smaller impact than raising the main ones like contact, solid hits and power.

What is the difference between Pitcher Control and Consistency? Control is more for walks right?

Correct, consistency will affect balls missing their aim point more, so you will hang a few more and not be able to paint the black as consistently.

Correct, I lowered it for human on last update to get more human strikeouts.

BTW, played a game post patch, A's pitcher went 6 innings, 79 pitches and was lifted with a 1-0 lead, which is something I can see in that situation. CPU then went 1 pitcher each of the last 3 innings, ended up losing 2-0. I will be interested to see what happens with more early offense.

That could be a real life situation where the pitcher goes 6. And I can live with that. It totally is not okay when they take the pitcher out after 4 IP with a lead and doesn't give them a chance for the win.

I have been switching the controllers to make it better. But I think sometimes I do it when the CPU wouldn't have taken them out. Like they didn't have anybody up in the bullpen. I'm interested to see if they are bringing them in with nobody warming up? Example, the CPU is batting and you end the inning and go up to bat....if nobody was warming up in the bullpen, would they bring the SP back out?
