Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

The last two games were probably two of the most exciting back to back games I have ever had playing the show. I did not lead in either game at any point and trailed going into the bottom of the 9th in both cases and had back to back walkoff wins. Definitely a first and the Yankees are sitting at 9-4, but could be 7-6 if not for these two games.

    Cardinals 9-11-0 (4-8)
    Yankees 13-15-0 (8-4)

CC Sabathia was absolutely hammered in this game, 3-1 IP, 8 hits, 8 earned runs, 1 BB, 0 K. The bullpen held the Cards to one run the rest of the way and after we tied it at 9 in the bottom of the 9th, 1 out, I was swinging only for a fly ball to get the winning run home, but Aaron Judge took it over the left field wall for a walkoff slam!

    HR: Yankees 2, Cardinals 2
    2B: Yankees 1, Cardinals 3

    BB/K: Yankees 4/3, Cardinals 5/6

    White Sox 2-7-2 (1-12)
    Yankees 3-11-0 (9-4)

The complete opposite of yesterdays slugfest, I only had 7 hits and 1 run through 8 and Pineda was money, leaving after 8 tied 1-1, gave up 4 hits,
the single run, walked 2 and struck out 8. They grabbed the lead in the top of the 9th, but I strung together 4 singles in the bottom of the 9th, winning it on Ellsbury's 2 RBI base hit between 3B and SS with 2 outs.

    HR: none
    2B: NY 2, Chicago 0

Just a couple of notes on players, Greg Bird is absolutely raking opponents pitching, leading the majors with .460 average, 5 HR (Tied for first with 8 others) and 13 RBI. The ball looks like a basketball when he bats, just weird. On the opposite side Headley is only at .152 and poor Didi Gregorious is only 1 for 28 since rejoining the team (.036).

I won my last game 9-4. I am at work and I don't remember the stats but I know I hit 4 HR and gave up 2 HR in Cincinnati. I had a scare when Schwarber went down with a bruise when he got beamed and then Kris Bryant got hurt diving for a ball. Said it could be a bruise or a broken wrist. I was lucky that they are only out for a couple games.

I'm 11-5 and in 1st place by 3.5 games. The Reds are in 2nd place and the Cardinals are almost to .500 after starting 1-6. I'm 13th in AVG at .261 and 1st in HR by 1.

Did you adjust timing to 2, or still using 4?

I'm using Timing at 3. But I have my pitch speeds way down to 3 and 5. I'm wondering if that's making it too easy for me.

Could be, I know there was a big difference for me between 4/6 and 5/7, so I went timing route vs. upping pitch speed to 5/7. I have to think they would cancel each other, so either pitch speed (for me) on 5/7 with 3 timing or 4/6 with 2 timing. I am going with the latter since it really forces me to dial in on when to swing.

I didn't realize you turned the timing to 2. I thought you turned it down from 4 to 3. I'll try that. I'm going to go home in an hour and plant some flowers and play my game all night.

                That's a night right there

Also, I screwed up, solid hits for humans was reduced to 3 as well as timing at 3. I tested both solid/timing to 3 and timing only to 2 and was tired, so typed the wrong changes in. OP and vault are now both correct.

So after tearing out the grass and putting flowers in I came and played the 2nd series against the Reds. Lackey against Garrett. I scored a run in the 3rd and 5th to make it 2-0. Bottom of the 5th Lackey gave up 2 singles, a sac bunt and a game tying 2 run single. Then my bullpen gave up 3 runs in the 6th to seal the deal for the Reds. It was a good game. I accidently played with All Star hitting. Didn't do too bad.

                  Cubs 3 8 1
                  Reds 5 7 0

                  Cubs: 1 HR, 2 2B
                  Reds: 2 2B

                  Cubs BB/K: 4/6
                  Reds BB/K: 3/3

Just played my first game with these...I used to be a big fan of what you had for NCAA 14. My stick skills are fading fast so I had a go.

Had a crazy game. I was Houston and ended up winning 6-5 in 10.

Top 1st - they get 2nd and 3rd with 1-out but Kuechel was able to get out of it.

Bot 1st - Springer hits a lead off double followed by 2 singles are we are up 1-0.

Top 3rd - Kuechel gets hurt and has to come out. My reliever comes in and walks the first guy then hangs a curve for Beltre and we are down 2-1.

Bot 3rd - Beltran tees of a 2-0 fastball to tie it at 2.

Everybody settles in until the 8th when they take the lead before we tie it up in the bottom half.

Then in the 9th Andrus leads off with a Bomb to put them up 4-3 but Beltran hits his 2nd HR to tie back up and we end up stranding the bases loaded.

They open the 10th with a lead off double and take the lead 5-4. In the bottom of the 10th Altuve leads off with a double and eventually gets driven in by Correa. And Gonzalez knocks in Correa from 2nd with 2-outs to win it!

I walked them 7 times...they didn't walk me once. Some of that was my issue but Hamels was just hammering the zone.

                    Good times

Liking the gameplay I am getting from these a lot now, so the OP V2 should be the final barring any issues with patches. I am now playing 5 FB and 7 off speed for pitch speed. Like anything after you play enough games 4/6 was a tad easy, 5/7 feels right now that I am zoned in with my hitting view and flow of the sliders.

18 games in my new franchise and the Yankees sit at 12-6, 1.5 games back of the Red Sox, though we have not played any teams with a winning record yet.

Sabathia is 4th with only 4 BB allowed, but there is no need to work a walk when he has been getting hammered like he is so far, ERA over 9!!

This game is just so gorgeous and plays so well, I may have 2-3 season in when next years comes around.

Good stuff, and man I miss NCAA! Hoping they can find a way to bring that back.

I have had several really intense games like that one, from slugfests like the 7 run 9th earlier in this thread to just getting shutout 2-0 by the Pirates with only two runners getting to 2nd. Glad these are working for you. I am pretty happy with the current set, and will probably only tweak pitch speed as I go forward, though 5-7 feels like it will be good long term.

Finally team with a winning record as we open a 3 game series against the Red Sox. Things started great when Ellsbury led off the game with a HR, but Severino picked a bad time to pitch his worst game of the season.

                          Yankees 3-7-0 (record 12-7)
                          Red Sox 5-7-0 (record 15-5)

                          HR:
                          NY - Ellsbury (2)
                          BOS - Bradley Jr. (6), Sandoval (3), Vogt (5)

                          2B: NY - 1, BOS - 0

A 4 run 4th inning did Severino (6IP, 7H, 5ER, 1BB, 3K) in as he didn't have his strikeout pitch working. Ellsbury was a bright spot, tormenting his former team going 3-4, HR, 2 RBI, 1 RS.

I walked once and struck out 8 times, Boston walked once and struck out 3 as my normally formidable pen couldn't rack up any K's either.

Current record 14-9, ran into a bit of a cold spell losing 5 of 6 before the gem below from Pineda got us back on track.

                            Orioles 0-2-0
                            Yankees 4-6-0 Pineda 9IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 8K (First CG by a Yankee)

                            HR - None
2B - Balt 1, NY 0 (It was singles and a season high in walks that did it)

I struck out 10 times, but drew 7 walks as well.

Some defensive gems including a nice diving catch by Gregorious, Chris Carter catching a line drive and doubling a runner off 1st and Aaron Judge using all 6'8" to rob a HR.

I started my Cubs season over. That way I can use these sliders the whole season. I just finished my 5th game and I'm 4-1. After a 11-5 win on opening day I have been getting low scoring games. My pitching has been carrying me. This last game I won 2-1 against the Brewers. I left a lot of men on base but could never get the big hit until the 8th. I was down 1-0 in the 8th and I scored 2 runs.
