Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Yeah I dunno why but for some reason since the change to V 2.0 I'm in a horrible pitching slump.
Now I've never been fantastic at Classic pitching anyway, but wasn't doing awful this year but lately I've been getting destroyed with like 4 different teams lol.
I got the misses and K's as I know how to pitch being a former minor leaguer myself. But I dunno just in a slump on the mound and wanted to bitch about it lol.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Just went 7.1IP with Sonny Gray K'd 9 however the CPU stays HR centric gave up a 2-run to Buxton and a Solo to Rosario. The CPU does score on other than HRs sometimes whole games scoring without one, but still seems missed pitches get crushed for HRs more than they should by the non-power guys.
Idk good game tho, before coming. Gray actually had them no-hit thru 4, and Judge and Stanton sent back-to-back pitches over the LF wall in the 1st inning against Odorizzi and his 0.93era lol.
Oh and Gleyber Torres made his debut for me today (2 days behind his IRL debut) he smacked a RBI Single down the 3rd base line in his first AB to get his first hit and RBI out the way. He tacked on a double in the 8th to go 2-4 in his debut.

Yep and the main reason I wanted to come on here and rant a lil about it was the game usually comes back to prove me wrong, and it did.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Thanks for the response. I'm on the fence of going basically default CPU hitting sliders and a lower human consistency and control (3-3) or going with armors increased cpu power and lower CPU solid hits with near default human pitching. Do you find it to easy to paint the corners with human pitching at 4-5? I am so close to finding a perfect set for me and armors are the best out there. Just trying to get a feelfor what other show vets are experiencing. I am anxiously waiting for armors April wrap up.

I like having CPU power at 6 to help fear the big hitters, but I'm wondering if it's having to much of an effect on the lower power guys, as it almost seems they are launching missed locations at a higher rate than they should be, but I dunno.

No I definetely don't find it easy to paint at 4-5, honestly the thought of going lower already irritates me thinking of all my horribly missed targets lol.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Imo If you lower consistency in control down to 3 or lower all that is gonna do is leave more balls over the middle of the plate and they will hit more home runs. I pitch with it on default in my pictures miss their location all the time.

However, as usual, you can absolutely not go wrong using Armor's set; which I'm following exactly (except for two tweaks on the user pitching side). For user pitching, I am mirroring his user hitting setup which works so beautifully. So, basically I dropped CPU power to 5 and raised user control to 5. That is it! Everything else is his OP....
The changes accomplished a couple of things for me:
- It decreased the random 'meatball' effect for me as it sometimes felt a bit too random with user control at 4. Given that even decent number 2 starters (overalls in the low/mid 80s) often have control ratings in the 60s, it got to be a little too difficult for me when using truly mediocre starters. With it at 5, I still get plenty of balls outside the zone (no ballmarker and vibration 'off') and get strike % values around 55-65% most games.
- With the CPU power at 6, I was seeing way too many unwarranted swings-and-misses for my taste. With it at 5, they still miss plenty, but I like the slightly better patience at the plate. It obviously tones the power a bit, but the change to me was more to address the CPU's approach at the dish rather than toning-down their power. In some ways, I almost feel like it has made them tougher to face, not easier. Plus, there is some truth that a HR can be a 'rally killer'.
I have very recently made these changes so I am still really running them through the wringer. So far, it still plays very true to the OP, but I just prefer the "illusion" a bit more.Last edited by JoshC1977; 04-24-2018, 06:14 PM.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
