I am VERY picky when it comes to sliders. Basically, I want there to be a convincing illusion that I am participating in a real game where player ratings are dictating the outcomes. If I feel like I am "playing against the sliders and/or dice rolls" versus "playing against my opponent" I get bored and frustrated VERY quickly.

However, as usual, you can absolutely not go wrong using Armor's set; which I'm following exactly (except for two tweaks on the user pitching side). For user pitching, I am mirroring his user hitting setup which works so beautifully. So, basically I dropped CPU power to 5 and raised user control to 5. That is it! Everything else is his OP....

The changes accomplished a couple of things for me:

• It decreased the random 'meatball' effect for me as it sometimes felt a bit too random with user control at 4. Given that even decent number 2 starters (overalls in the low/mid 80s) often have control ratings in the 60s, it got to be a little too difficult for me when using truly mediocre starters. With it at 5, I still get plenty of balls outside the zone (no ballmarker and vibration 'off') and get strike % values around 55-65% most games.
• With the CPU power at 6, I was seeing way too many unwarranted swings-and-misses for my taste. With it at 5, they still miss plenty, but I like the slightly better patience at the plate. It obviously tones the power a bit, but the change to me was more to address the CPU's approach at the dish rather than toning-down their power. In some ways, I almost feel like it has made them tougher to face, not easier. Plus, there is some truth that a HR can be a 'rally killer'.

I have very recently made these changes so I am still really running them through the wringer. So far, it still plays very true to the OP, but I just prefer the "illusion" a bit more.

Josh, thanks for sharing your tweaks. It’s like finding the last piece of a giant jigsaw puzzle for me. I can now move away from Default and play some “Armor Baseball”

Final tweaks are always up to the end user...those are mine...yours may be something different (just as Armor has his).

No matter how you slice it though, Armor's base is absolutely golden!

Get off the fence. I moved CPU Power to 5 now.

Everything else exactly the same. Great boppers will still go yard. But now punching Judy’s won’t as often.

This, this is what I've been talking about. At 6 too many low power guys just hit monster shots off mistakes, way more of those needed to be doubles singles triples etc.

Glad to see the main man feels the same way.

Oh god keep that kinda stuff in the main forum. I've blown out the CPU plenty this year, so definetely not trying that comeback nonsense.

Actually I've seen the least amount of CPU comebacks this year. Sack up and be your own excuse lol.

Hahaha I love how the main forum is like a post apocalyptic world when we speak about it. I'm openly admitting it's me. I get the sauce by missing spots and being punished. Felt off when there was a bit too many bombs from certain guys. Wasn't getting enough extra base hits outside of the long ball. All of my blown saves are from walks coming back to get me...

How do you guys know that you are at the “right” pitch speed for you? I’ve been playing at 6/7 but don’t strikeout and usually hit 3 homers a game on average. At 7/8 I usually strike out 10 times a game and can be late on low 90’s fastballs.

Getting a bit frustrated with it. Don’t want things too easy, but not too hard either

So that's 7 Off and 8FB? If so try it at 7FB and 8 Off. Trust me it'll alter it up nice for you.

When I have trouble consistently pulling with 95+. 6 or 7 is usually where it's at for me. Offspeed is usually one or two higher...

I have it at 7 FB and 8 offspeed.

Perhaps give your camera a lil tweak then.

Highly recommend this....finding the right hitting camera is HUGE! Once you can find the right one, picking up the ball helps your game tremendously. I'm using The Show 15, btw.
