Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Just finished a game in which I walked 12 times as a team. 4 alone from Bryce Harper. Definitely a new high for me in MLB The Show. Up to 294 total walks on the season near the end of June. Ranked 6th in MLB now in that category.

Are you using Armor's sliders and seeing this many pitches out of the zone?

I use Armor's sliders, yes. I am very patient at the plate. Work counts, foul off pitches, etc. It's not the sliders. I have used his sets for years and this year is the first year I have walked this much. However, it is also due to a change in my approach as well. Not to say I never walked in years past but I made it a point this year to try to walk more.

A few games ago a Braves reliever came into the game and in 1 inning walked me 5 times. That was the first time this season so far that a reliever walked me 5 times in an inning. Sometimes pitchers just don't have confidence and miss bad. I've had 4 pitch walks and also 10 pitch at-bats that have ended in walks.

If I get a first pitch ball, 99% of the time I am taking the second pitch unless it's a meatball. If they throw another ball, I am taking until I get a strike.

In this same game I walked 12 times, I won 7-4. I got 3 straight walks to start an inning and then the reliever proceeded to go pop-up, strikeout, ground-out I believe it was.

It's all about approach and patience.

I agree it's about approach and not sliders. I have a bad habit of chasing breaking balls out of the zone. Especially a good slider.

Trust me, I still have my fair share of chasing bad pitches too.

The Yankees will be playing The Astros in the ALDS and the Indians will face the Red Sox (Wildcard winner) in the other ALDS.

We will stream the entire Yankees post season. Potentially this evening but not later than tomorrow morning will be game 1!!!

I am now using this slider set and pitching at HOF level and striking out 10 plus a game while walking just under 1 a game. Maybe my pitching is on an insane hot streak. But I do believe the greatness in this game is also how one approaches pitching and hitting as a player. My pitching approach seems to be working beautifully right now.

I always used Armor's sliders but with a personal twist. Problem ? I played the 162 games last year but was constantly adjusting my sliders. To play those 162 games in a reasonable time, i was playing all my games on Quick Count.

Took a while but I finally decided this year to play all my games in regular mode (all the pitches). What a game changer for me. Not that QC is broken or bad at all, i think it's a neat feature but wasn't good for me. I wasn't working the counts. Now I can decide to try a Power swing on first pitch without putting my whole at bat on jeopardy because it's starts with a 1-2 count. I'm now using Armor's sliders as is and don't touch it anymore. I've struck out 16 time against Chris Sale when 2 days later winning 20-3 with 5HRs,6 doubles against Porcello.

The other thing i understood is : the opposing pitchers (even aces) will have hot & cold streaks, my players will have h&c streaks, and myself's having some h&c. Some nights I'm just chasing balls like crazy and can't see the ball well and late on most swings. If on top of that a few of my guys are not at their top and you're facing a Chris Sale, you can expect my 16k and 2 hits game :-)

As Armor keeps saying, use those sliders and stick with it, you'll then taste all the flavours of a long baseball season !!!

I have no doubt this will happen. But I did want to make a point to the guys who said they aren't striking out batters while leading the league in walks. I do challenge hitters all the time. So I know it's coming. I also have given up the least amount of long balls in the league. So I expect an adjustment as the season ebbs and flows. I'm playing .500 ball so far through 14 games so I haven't seen a team-wide hot or cold streak. I can't wait.

When frustration with other sports games gameplay sets in, I always have the Show to come back to with Armors settings. Always good even with patch updates. [emoji16][emoji106]

June has been a killer for me. Playing so poorly this month. 7-12 record in the month so far. 40-36 on the season.

The Giants have suffered their first major injury in this early 2019 campaign , losing Kevin Pillar to a separated shoulder for 2 months. The Giants GM has reached out to the Royals and inquired about Whit Merrifield. The Royals have agreed in principle to a package of Steven Duggar and Kyle Barraclough.

If I make this trade am I ripping off the cpu? I will add that Duggar is an "A" potential guy.
