Losing save data is the worst, I feel you. I once payed $300 to get my PS3 fixed just so I could pull my save data from it. My condolences on your loss. If I lost my 2014 carry over I'd be a little devastated.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
So yesterday I'm playing my year 3 of my Braves franchise and the power goes out at my house during a rain storm. When the playstation comes back on its stuck in safe mode. So I had to reset my playstation and lost all my data. I am a playstation plus member so I wasnt worried about losing my franchise but after I rebooted everything and went in to my stored data to upload my franchise nothing was f*****g there. So it looks like I have lost my 3 year franchise. I'm so freaking mad. I think I want to cry. The only in my saved data is April of year 2 of my franchise. I can start from that point or I may just start a new franchise with this years brave team.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
In the game....play it on High Performance not 4K. Set your TV to game mode as well for your picture so you get zero lag. Also I play The Show with the HDR setting off (again you can toggle that in the games video settings).
Madden and 2K on the other hand look amazing on 4K HDR.
But this game on the PS4 Pro...High Performance and no HDR is awesome sauce.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.Comment

Anybody else noticing an abnormal amount of frozen ropes hit right at somebody? Past couple weeks I’ve probably averaged about 5 or 6 a game.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I’m doing classic pitching just as you wrote it up and all of my pitchers get raked on. No matter where I place it or how little or long I hold it down I get outscored 8 runs in the first few innings. It doesn’t help that I scrapped the giants and now I’m using pitchers with BB/9 and control in the 60s.

1. some of it is really out of your control. Truth is, some pitchers are just bad and you will not have equal success with everyone no matter what you do. Just like in real-life, some guys are good for 5 innings/3-4 runs per start, some guys get pounded all the time, others might give you consistent QS to keep you in games. With a spectrum in between. The attributes play a huge role and it's pretty hard for the player to compensate. Guys with attributes in the 60s are just barely MLB caliber IMO and it will show against good teams. I would say your average MLB quality pitcher sits somewhere in the low-mid 70s for their pitching attributes, (depending on the type of pitcher they are. A fastball pitcher with low break stat isn't necessarily a bad thing).
2. each pitcher is different. Different wind ups, different optimum release points, etc. Their attributes (movement/break/velocity/control) have a big impact on each pitch. A 12-6 curveball from two pitchers can behave totally different. So you need to learn your pitching staff, and learn how to pitch successfully with each guy. Learn when to release the button, etc. (it's a shame there is no 'practice' mode within franchise to facilitate this). I started watching the windup and correlating points in the windup with releasing the button, this helps a ton as well.
3. one thing that helped me was patience. I found myself clicking through screens/skipping cutscenes and throwing pitches as quickly as I could. So I started slowing down the game, watching some of the presentation elements, etc, and really focused on how I was pitching. It helped a lot.
4. don't be afraid to walk or throw outside the zone. Even, well outside the zone. And, think about the pitch you are throwing too and compensate for inaccuracy or drift. So, if you have a guy with poor control, point that curveball in the dirt. If he does miss, he either bounces it 5ft in front of home plate, or it clips the bottom of the zone. If you had aimed it higher, when he misses, it either clips the bottom of the zone or hangs...AI will punish hangers.
5. if you are struggling, turn on some of the feedback UI options. Like ballmarker or pitch feedback. I have ball marker with classic movement indicator turned on, and pitch feedback. It gives me an idea of how I am pitching that day without holding my hand.
6. watch more baseball on TV. seriously. In my case I wanted 'sim' baseball with 'sim' stats but would get pretty frustrated at times when things weren't working well for me. Well, turn on your favorite team (in my case the Phillies) and then revisit your sim mindset. In my case, I had soo many moments where I said to myself: 'oh, Jake Arrieta is this crappy in real-life'Comment

Trade deadline is the phase you will get too after the All-Star break and before the July 31st trade deadline.
Once that phase begins you can do contract extensions.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I finished my Reds season playing every pitch if all 162 games. It is the 20th year I have completed a whole season with the Reds.
In my next venture I am going to play a whole season with the Rays using quick counts.
Armor what changes should I make in your opinion?
It seems to me the starting pitchers get tired really quick.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I've had this problem off and on over the last two or three years; here is what I have learned/have come to accept:
1. some of it is really out of your control. Truth is, some pitchers are just bad and you will not have equal success with everyone no matter what you do. Just like in real-life, some guys are good for 5 innings/3-4 runs per start, some guys get pounded all the time, others might give you consistent QS to keep you in games. With a spectrum in between. Thank you so much for this reply. Everything you mentioned makes sense and I am guilty of some of the things you used to do. It really is the control that’s killing me. I’ll put a fastball bottom corner and i will tap it for accuracy and it ends up a meatball lol. But you’re right, watching baseball makes a huge difference. These pitchers throw in the dirt, they miss their spots, they serve meatballs. Classic pitching has taught me that attributes mean more than I think. Before I used to use analog pitching and could paint the strike zone as I wanted even with bad pitchers, so classic is a wake up call.
