I preload it once with L2 and the left analog before the pitch. I have found it is more important than ever to run in appropriate situations. I think I am 42 for 45 or so in my franchise with default settings. I only run when the time is right. Never on the first pitch or when behind in the count and I rarely hit and run.

I do only steal usually with 1 or 2 outs and runner on 1st ahead in the count, usually 2-1 or better even.
I use the OP sliders though, which has steal ability at 6 instead of 5, pretty sure there are some other speed related tweaks too.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Personally, I feel like running while behind in the count can actually be more successful - because those are the times when you'll see the pitcher throw more offspeed pitches to try and strike a batter out, and those pitches are far easier to steal a base on than fastballs (especially if they end up in the dirt - that's an auto SB regardless of who's running). I've stolen successfully with some pretty average-speed guys in situations like that.
Have to be careful you don't run into a pitchout though - it's also easier for the CPU to throw one of those when it has count advantage. The main thing is to just not be predictable.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Advice on stealing bases. What's the technique? I usually just press L2 sometime during the pitch, but it has been awful! I'm like 5 for 30 or something close with the Angels. Trout is my only super speed guy and I don't ever steal with guys below 55 speed. Is it just a lost cause to ever even try with the 29th fastest team in the league or am I doing it wrong? Slider adjustment since I'm so slow? Computer pretty much steals at will against me too, albeit always really fast guys. 80+
You can time your jump by holding L2 then releasing once the pitcher begins his motion. Sometimes just preloading L2 will give you a late jump.

Love the sliders armor. One this I noticed is that fielders for both use and CPU are often having almost all diving or sliding catch attempts go off their gloves and falling. Any suggestions?

The CPU’s success rate on hit and runs is astronomical.

That and stealing home on a wild pitch. They seem to have a 100% success rate there.MLB: New York Yankees

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Anyone else finding that the pitching difficulty is a little too much on the easy side. Currently doing a franchise with the Tigers where I play every single game and my team ERA ranks Top 10 in the league at the end of April. There’s no way I should be able to have this much success with the Tigers pitching staff as it’s one of the very worst staffs in the league. Just seems like to me the CPU rarely hits the ball hard and with any power, along with missing very hittable pitches with high frequency. Strikeout numbers seem to be pretty realistic as my team is in the bottom five in the league, but the CPU just increasingly puts together poor at bats with weak contact.Comment

I’ve been using CPU contact at 5, power at 6, timing at 5, fouls at 3, and solid hits at 4. Pitching control is at 4 and consistency at 5. Been working really well for the most part. You really need to focus and be smart or the CPU will punish you in the zone. I play as the White Sox and after 70+ games I have an ERA around 4.50, 3.5 BB/9, and 7.75 K/9. I’ve had some game where I’ve surrender 4 HR’s and 10+ runs, others where I’ve held the CPU to under 5 hits.

What does the foul frequency slider actually do? Doesn’t seem to increase strikeouts. Feels more like a supplemental contact and/or timing slider.

It can be a coincidence but I swear the Cpu is striking out even less after this last patch. I can’t get them to chase anything out of the zone it seems the past 4-5 games.
