I need to remove that.....has nothing to do with directional hitting and I think they removed that from analog hitting.

I’ve played some games with CPU afoul frequency down to 2 and I have to say, there’s definitely a noticeable difference. I’m liking it.

But I think the one area that still needs to be addressed is walks being issued. I feel like I have pinpoint control with the sliders and default. I may start by lowering user pitch control to 4. I am just not issuing many walks at all, and when I do it’s full count battles mostly.

In years past I can remember having a pitcher kind of lose the zone. I’d go 3-0 to a batter, try to throw a fastball right down the middle for a strike, and still miss for a four pitch walk. I’m just not seeing that this year.

Yes since day one control 4 and 6 consistency. Which helps from missing to far from Target and wild pitches.

Hmmm. Interesting. How many games are you into your franchise and where do you rank on walks issued.

I believe I'm around 15th in walks and I'm 24 games in I'm 12-12. I've played about 20 games in play now before I started my franchise this way also. I try to pitch to the corners and against good hitters I usually don't give in.

                      Speaking of control..
My sliders are the same in the OP. We all use different player I know, and I usually have control issues. I was walking almost 4 batters a game with my starters. None of my starts have very good control. Some of my bullpen however is in the 80s or higher and I have no issues there.

Anyways. My starters control are all around 65 give or take. Is this lower than what you guys have? After putting CPUFoulF. down to two it’s been a lot more “normal” my ace might walk a batter or two now.

No hate, of course, just curious. Why directional hitting? I'm reading most places that zone hitting seems to be the preferred method, so I'm just curious why you lean towards directional.

I can answer that without directional being my desired hitting mode - because it is the most rating-driven hitting mode in the game. I believe all of them are guided by ratings to some extent (yes, even zone - very much so in fact as long as the game settings are challenging enough for them to matter), but considering you can only control swing timing and, to a small degree, influence the direction of a hit, directional has the most things left in the hands of the ratings and CPU.

I'd argue that Directional is also the most accessible mode to any player picking up the game - yet it cannot really be mastered since the the results are heavily driven by the game's engine. So it can have a very wide appeal.

Player rating play a bigger role in directional hitting and classic pitching. Those of us looking for a more sim style play, where there is a bigger role for team building, have to look no further than directional. There is no problem with any of the hitting types, it just all comes down to personal preference.

I appreciate the responses! I'm also one of those people who enjoy the sim style play. I was considering using zone in my Franchise, but after hearing your guys responses, I'll be sticking with directional. Thanks!
