Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Lowering CPU foul frequency to 2 could result in not getting the CPU into enough 2-strike counts, therefore setting up strikeouts. I imagine this will be addressed eventually in an update.
I’ve been saying (as you know) that lack of strikeouts was an issue since the first few games I played. However, I’m currently around 27th in the league in strikeouts and I’ve played at least two fewer games than most teams in the league (I’ve played four fewer than some). So once we all have 162 I bet I’m in the low-20’s. Still far off from where I usually am on this game. And a National League team should definitely be higher generally.
That being said, I agree it’s still just kind of off. But I hesitate to put any slider more than two clicks in any direction. Like you, I try to stay as close to default as possible.
I’m sure you’re aware of this, but I’ve noticed that a willingness to walk batters can lead to more strikeouts. The past few games when I’ve gotten into full counts I’ve gone ahead and thrown a pitch (often breaking pitch) out of the zone that would be ball four. On numerous occasions the CPU struck out on what should have been a walk.
So I’m like you, a lot of times the issue is on me. But there’s a general issue, I agree. Especially in this day in age in baseball where strikeouts totals are high.
I’ve sill yet to have a starter have double digit punch outs.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I had a ton of 2 strike counts in my 2 games with foul frequency at 2. And I had 10 Ks one game (8 from deGrom) and 11 in the second game (10 from Syndegaard). I was able to get the CPU to chase a lot more than I remember being able to before.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I am going to test Foul Frequency at 2 for the CPU first. I do not want to unintentionally nerf their offense with lowering their timing.
This can be a double edged improvement allowing my top pitchers and relievers to strike out more CPU hitters on 0-2, 1-2 or induce weaker contact vs lowering their timing and weakening their offense overall.
Check out this chart below. It will give you an idea of how counts are everything in hitting success.
So you can see on 0-2 and 1-2 counts what the averages are. Well not so in my first 60 plus games of playing 19 on HOF. We need to get a handle on this. I think we will. And sometimes no question it is on me for pitch selection and location. But too often I am aiming well outside the zone and getting punished. It also has to do with the upgrade to contact hitters on 19, which is a great tune as it was needed, but it feels OP on HOF level for the CPU so we need to "slider" it down and I am confident we will.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t foul frequency just dictate whether weak contact is foul or fair? So by lowering foul frequency, you are just having players that would have fouled something off just put it in play instead?
That would actually inversely affect Ks if so

Basically if there's a way to increase strikeouts but at the same time also increase the CPU's BABIP and maybe power some, I'm in. Essentially more strikeouts, less control for human pitchers and more hits for the CPU.Comment

Hmm. I’ll play around with CPU FoulF at 2 and see how it goes a few games. As others said, strike outs seems quite low. I don’t see it having a great impact on offense for them, but only time will tell.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
This.
All slider descriptions are in the game. Just go to sliders and scroll to whichever one you want to look at and it’s there.
CPUFoulF. deals with swings on borderline pitches. Slide right for more fouls on those types of pitches and hits that would of landed just fair.
More fouls means deeper counts and better protection with two strikes.
That being said with CPUFF at three I felt like too many betters were getting me in 10+ pitch at bats way too often. Maybe that’s accurate though. I don’t know the real numbers. However. With what little bit I’ve played with CPUFF at 2, I don’t think I’m getting into enough deep counts. I’ll play a few more games but I’m thinking it’s best at 3 and maybe I’ll test CPU Timing instead. Unless that’s already been played with and I just missed it in the thread.Comment

It hasn’t impacted the CPU’s offense against me so far. I lost one game 5-2 giving up 2 homers and 10 hits, and won the second game 5-4 again giving up 2 homers and this time 13 hits. I was also able to get 10 and 11 strikeouts in those games so that number definitely improved.

The site you’re probably referring to is Dynasty Nation. Still the best for running a dynasty but the community there isn’t as strong as OS. However, I’m just making photoshop pages for my franchise now. That’s what I posted with Darvish. I still would like to do a site on DN. I consider it frequently still. Love the ability to have all stories archived, roster pages, etc.
