I also noticed early on my bullpen would give up the lead. Either my 88 setup, or 99 closer. I THINK it was just me though. I can’t remember what but my sliders were off a few ticks so that’s a possibility there but also in how I pitch. When my control was at 5 I’d hang a ball just about every other at bat. But again I noticed this also fell on me and I’ll explain.

For classic pitching I’d notice I’d start over throwing balls on 0-2, 1-2, etc. cause I’m late in the game, and I wanted outs but this lead to ever more hangers over the plate. I’d get out of sync with my bullpen. I was just pitching a completely different game than I was the last 7 or so innings. I showed up to the show but tried leaving in someone else’s car.

Hopefully that helps. If not, sorry for the long pointless post!
I'd say I've played 40 outta 50 games in my franchise. It feels likes it's gonna happen every time. My relievers seem to immediately get behind in the count in many cases. It's probably just me. As much I've read on classic pitching I never feel like I'm doing it exactly right. I tend to be 20 pitches or so ahead of my opponents starter every game in terms of pitch count.

I feel like I had the exact same issues you had. I didn’t understand Classic pitching myself at first until I looked into it. My ace would constantly get up to 80 pitches by the 4th-ish usually. Would have 4 walks. Couldn’t strike anyone out. It definitely didn’t help that at the time I was overthrowing a lot and I couldn’t get swing and misses. I struggled a lot. My closer (also a 99) blew two saves in two appearances. It wasn’t till I checked my sliders and adjusted them back to the OP. CPU Foul Frequency to two and Control at 6 really balanced it out for me and the games plays amazing now.

Are your sliders correct? Maybe double check them. Also don’t be afraid to maybe adjust it outside of the OP.

Are you holding down the pitch button a lot till it vibrates? 3: just grabbing at straws. Hope something here helps!

Edit: Maybe double check your difficulty setting too? x:

I find with my late inning relief pitchers that I have more success if I stick to their #1 pitch a majority of time. If it’s a fastball I just try moving it around the plate. If it’s good enough and my pitcher has good control that day I can have success. Doesn’t always work but I feel it does more times than not.

This is one of the changes SDS made this year to pitching where there is more of a penalty over working 3rd and 4th pitches vs your #1 or 2 pitches. Of course this was in response to the online cheese....and the effect in offline play has been not nearly what it is online. But this is something to remember. Especially with your relievers but more importantly set men and closers who reply far more on their #1 and 2 pitches.

For example with Chapman.....I use his fastball 80% of the time. And why not? He hits 100-101 with it.

In the meantime we played a 1989 Yankee game last night. What a blast PJ’s rosters are. Hawkins got shelled....like big time. 15 hits the Orioles (who were a great hitting team that year finishing 2nd in the A.L. East with 87 wins). We lost 5-2. I am pretty sure I will simply play various games around the league with this roster. So many great memories and players. Fun times.

Yankees YR3 will continue this morning as we go back to NY and welcome the 3rd place Orioles. It is critical I get on a major winning streak and maintain my momentum I have been building. It is incredible what kind of hole I put myself in starting 3-10. But.....things will balance out over the course of the season. I feel I have the most talented lineup in the A.L. East. The Blue jays however have been on some kind of tear here. Just incredible. They are in the Cat Birds seat here in early May atop the A.L. East.

Slider wise I am extremely happy with the set on the OP. I feel like we got the right balance and feel. And make no mistake.....HOF is a bigger challenge and it feels so much better now that we made that foul frequency adjustment.

Just for my own mind I played a game on All-Star and it was what I thought it would be. Just too loose and easy for me hitting and pitching wise.

            HOF is not for everyone.

My All-Star set adjustments though should work really well for those looking for an All-Star level set.

But if your finding All-Star to be too easy.......step up to HOF and give it time to adjust. AI pitchers are much more challenging, they will throw the country fastball a lot more, get you chasing a lot more. patience is key hitting on HOF. HR’s and extra base hits are earned. Pitching on HOF is a new world. CPU hitters will punish balls left over the plate or hung out over the plate. Working around guys like Trout, Harper, or any top hitter is more important than ever!

HOF is the bees knees for me and I hope you guys enjoy the slider set....because we are finished making adjustments. I will await the first major patch. But my hope is nothing gameplay wise really changes. I really hope they leave hitting alone. CPU AI on fielding is so cool this year with auto fielding. So many animations and I keep seeing new ones! I have been seeing misplayed balls off the wall by weaker OF’s....so cool to finally see that.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Outside of the low strikeout totals for me (I've left foul frequency at 4, HUM pitcher control at 4, and CPU solid hits at 5 just so it's tougher on me as far as the CPU offense goes), there is only one other thing that's grinding my gears in this year's game. It has been brought up in the general thread section but I don't want to bash. I just want to get some constructive opinions. Do you guys do anything about the CPU bullpen? Are you even experiencing what I am? I'm tied with the Phillies 2-2 but have worked Arrieta to 90 pitches in the 5th inning (something I've actually been great at this year) and get a couple guys on. The CPU double switches and I absolutely destroy the middle reliever they bring in. The score gets to 7-2 and the CPU never takes out the bullpen guy. And it wasn't a grand slam. I string a bunch of hits together. They leave him in the next inning as I'm just ripping solid contact off him, as well. It WAS a close game. I notice I really pad my stats when the CPU brings in middle relief guys. They NEVER taken them out. You guys see this at all? This type of situation happens a lot to me. Should we be doing something like the injury slider where injuries at 9 during games, but at 6 when simming? By that I mean increase the manager hook slider when the CPU bullpen gets involved? Curious on everyone's thoughts.

I see this as well. I try to rationalize it by thinking the cpu Manager is thinking “the game is out of reach now so I might as well keep that reliever in instead of burning through another reliever”. But I also see the cpu bringing in relievers that are already gassed as they have pitched multiple innings in the 2 previous games of the series. I don’t know the solution other than starting to manage the cpu’s bullpen, which I don’t want to do during the game.

I started with these sliders (thank you, Armor!) and then made a few tweaks to fit my play style and expectations........and now I am in baseball Nirvana! I can only hope the rest of the community can find their 'happy place' so they can enjoy this amazing game. Now let's hope the patches only change the things we are trying to correct with slider adjustments.

Lmao so I gave up 16 runs in two games last night. But I did still win both games. My offense is heating up. I'm sitting at 12-3 on the year. I did just lose last years Mvp Mookie Betts but only for 2 weeks. Thank God it wasn't longer.

The sliders are correct. I mentioned a few times way back in the forum that I don't get the vibration thing because I actually don't feel it. Yes my controller works and vibration is on. So either it's so subtle I'm just missing it or it's not there. I can hold the button all the way through a pitch and I feel nothing. So I guess based on that I have no idea when to release the button. I still pitch pretty well. I just can't get wins with my starters.

From what I've noticed...not every pitcher in every situation has the vibration. Sometimes it's only when he's in the wind-up, not the stretch. It seems random, but if you still hold for a while it'll be a higher effort pitcher.

Try with no vibration..... adjustment period needed but so much more immersive

                              Quick question.

When a Setting has a ( ) after the number, is that an indication that it was changed recently ?

                              For example :

                              CPU Foul Frequency 2 (-1)

The setting is 2 for both HOF and All Star, is that correct ?

                              Thx
