Also have played 2 games now in my franchise with the blue jays and have only walked 2 batters. One was with a starting pitcher the other was with a relief pitcher

Yes, I have been toying with lower Starter Stamina, as my guys seem to be getting a few more innings than they should.

I usually wait to make a move until I test the OSFM Rosters, but am out of town until Saturday.

I am always worried about messing with sliders to have my pitchers throw more balls. I’ll tweak after I download the OSFM Rosters, and see what the fellas did with control and pitch edits.

Yes, I have noticed a lack of smart (typical) base running this year, but it has been the same regardless of the sliders.

Balls that should score a run, or at least test the outfielder arms are not enough to get the runners to try to advance.

I am not sure if there needs to be a slider for “Baserunner Aggressiveness”, but that would be a way to override the CPU’s perceived disadvantage due to other sliders.

I have noticed too. but I also noticed if you have the baserunning speed turned up (which makes the CPU more aggressive) but also.. I never see fielders throwing the ball to home plate now this year... dunno if anyone else noticed this. but

I have auto base running on and I never ever now see the CPU try and throw the runner out at home , they just stand there and not even attempt to try and get the runner out unless he is WAY out.

I am guessing this was put in the game to stop the so called DD cheese with online play of players that would throw home. but other runners would sneak to 2nd and 3rd base because of the animation. but it sucks because i never see close calls at home plate now your either way out or they don't even attempted it at all even on 50/50 chances.

but yeah having baserunning speed at default the CPU don't try and run for home during singles. where they run from 2nd to home. having baserunning to 7 or 8 they seem to then run from 2nd to home.

starter stamina is fine with most of the pitchers I see they turn about Orange when they get to 75 pitchers.. Most I see now only make it to 5 innings which is about the league average now. but your Mad Max and De Grom players don't really turn Orange till about 85 pitchers.

RP though a good one to play with as the CPU BP is a dumbarse when it comes to BP management so I tent to manage them myself. they always use the LR if the starter doesn't make to the 5 innings regardless of how tired they are in stamina and they leave them in the game even after getitng hit around.

I don't know if their is any fix with the CPU BP management wish their was, but probably requires to change the hook slider every single game up and down which is ridiculous.

Fielder speed at 2 is PERFECT. I'm seeing balls drop in between infielders and outfielders now, and little flares going over infielders heads where on 5 I was seeing none of. No more superhumanly fast outfielders robbing line drives to the gap, and if they do happen to make the grab they are running through the ball instead of settling before the ball arrives. 2 is again, perfect.

I do like how it really separates faster outfielder from the rest of the pack, and really requires some thought and planning to outfield positioning. Your tier 1 speed guys will still track down balls they ought to, but man, do you see a difference between JD Martinez and Mookie Betts. I’ve had Fielder Slider at 2 for three years now. To me, it is just right.

I actually saw a ball get by the outfielder last night, and he was trying to chase it down and actually tried to glove it off the ground from behind and actually stumbled and missed it. I never saw that before I put fielder speed down to 2.

Where it gets really interesting is when your outfielders are playing a batter to pull the ball, and he laces one down the opposite foul line. The combination of Fielder Speed at 2 and the Runner Speed requires either a fast guy, or a leap of faith to try and leg out a triple. Often the outcome is determined not so much on the speed of the runner, but how accurate the throw is from either the outfielder or the cutoff man.

This gamble/ risk reward based more on stats than default blazing speed, is worth the price of admission for me.

So it took me one game to remember why I had set the Stamina Setting at 6.

E-Rod is hurling a gem for me against Tampa Bay, I am putting on a hit parade, and it is 12-1 going into the eighth inning. ERod has 78 pitches. Masterful with moving the ball around, inducing three double plays... and then with the 79th pitch, the CPU alerts me that “Rodriguez is out of energy”.

Really? Out of energy with 79 pitches? I used only two “max effort” pitches his entire day, so pushing that slider down to 5 immediately cause me some concern.

MLB starters with full rest should not be cruising along and out of energy with less than 80 pitches. Now, one would argue with the game in hand, he should be done anyway, but I am staying with the Starter Stamina at 6 for now, as I still feel this provides me with the best realistic results.

Remember, ymmv with what pitching mechanic you choose, and what your effort is for each pitch. I’ll throw another game in with SS at 5 just to make sure, but for now, I’m not dropping it down as of yet.
