Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Directed at no one in particular. But remember, baseball is a game of patience not instant gratification. If you are going to get all wigged out after a 10 game or less sample size, you'll never be happy with the game. (BTW, 10 games is a pittance of a sample size too....but I also understand that 'feel' is a thing).
I'm going to address three topics:
1. Pitch speed. If you feel like you are ahead of every pitch, bump up the speed ONE notch. That's it. Cranking up pitch speed to 10 on All Star will make the game too easy - removing all skill from hitting and turning it into a muscle memory game.
2. If you have played 10+ games with the OP and feel that hitting is too easy for you, lower the user timing slider to 4. That's it. If that doesn't do it, use the OP on HOF.
3. If you have played 10+ games with the OP and want the CPU offense to have more bite, lower user pitch control to 5 and raise CPU contact to 6. This is a pure 'slider RNG' thing, which is like 'nails on a chalkboard' to me, but it should work. If that doesn't do it, use the OP on HOF.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I've always been a believer that rosters have an effect on the gameplay. I don't know enough to understand how they could change when you just add players and change equipment but I feel they do. Am I crazy?Baseball junky....Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
I had the same problem for a while for with the first roster full minors is the one I use. Want to know what made the difference? I start using directional hitting like how I pitch an direct my pitches. I don’t push the stick all the away over just enough. It has made a world of difference. Maybe I was doing it wrong before but it has been night An day. Sure I still strike out or get held to 3 hits or 5 in a game but it’s competitive when it should be against top tier starters an a blow out other times. I have seen a good mix and I been using these sliders and played 55 games in my franchise. I have two guys hitting . .300 and the others batting between .240-.265. There is a lot of variety man trust me patience is key to a successful at bat. Give the stick thing a try.
I didn't mean to come across as a whiner, it's just that 12 days ago I loved the feel of this game. Now two patches later and me shifting from Sony rosters to Full Minors V3 and the offense has been sucked out of the game. I've seen 3 homer combined in my last 10 games.

One question for you compared to Armor’s sliders is folder speed. He has it 3/4 and I’m using that with this set but wondering if that could be why my offensive numbers are higher. I’m nervous if I go 4/4 the cpu will not get as many extra base hits.
I played well with Armors set on HOF but the cpu would hit mostly singles and HR. This Allstar set they seem to hit more variety of hits. But I wasn’t gettting killed with HOF so I’m nervous that if I raise fielder speed the cpu will get less hits.Follow me on Twitch

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
I know 31 games isn't a huge sample size. But it's a big enough sample size to show me that this game is just amazing on AS this year. I just finished my first month of my Rays franchise and I have been using pretty much the exact OP every step of the way. There have been so many ebbs and flows in just the first 31 games its actually crazy. I had a streak where I've won 6 out of 7 games, and 10 out of 13. I've also had a streak where I lost 5 straight games. I've had games where I scored 10 runs and also a game where I was shutout. I've had games where I hold the CPU scoreless and I've had multiple games where I give up 7+ runs. Every time I'm not playing this game, I'm just waiting anxiously until I can again. Below are some team stats and averages from the first month of the season.
2019 Tampa Bay Rays -- 17-14 (2nd AL East, 0.5 GB)
Avg. - .260 (13th)
Runs - 4.1/game (16th)
Hits - 9/gm (T-12th)
Doubles - 2.1/gm (3rd)
Triples - 7 (7th)
HR - 31 (1.0/gm)(T-18th)
SB% - .560 (21st)
Walks - 3/gm (25th)
Strikeouts - 7.8/gm (T-12th)
SLG% - .420 (15th)
OBP - .321 (19th)
Pitching
ERA - 3.67 (11th)
Shutouts - 3 (T-6th)
Saves - 9/14
Hits - 8.1/gm (T-6th)
HR - 28 (.9/gm)(6th)
BB - 3.5/gm (13th)
Strikeouts - 9.5/gm (2nd)
Win% - .548 (T-11th)Last edited by tc020791; 05-25-2019, 10:19 PM.Comment

Am I just that terrible 😂
So .. I have tried three Slider sets and seem to have settled on these. THE ONLY thing is (mind you I play mainly with the Tribe) So the only thing is Im not hitting crap....... And when I do they are slow groundballs or pop ups...... I have played with other teams ... Via Red Sox and Braves and get the same results....... My timing always says I'm early. Alot of junk does fool me and the feed back says I'm always early.......but if I wait.... Then I'm whiffing..... I don't want to mess with any timing sliders because I'm screed I would screw things up??? I try to wait but just find my self In 3-2 counts then chasing junk and striking out....
ANNNNNNNNNNNY advice or am I just that terrible at this game.....?Comment

Just raise the pitch speed sliders one tick and you should be good
Edit...actually if you’re only behind on breaking balls, you can raise just that slider one tick. Most rosters have a bit too much separation in velo and that can clean it up to a degree.
Another option would be to change your camera angle and see if you find one that can help visualize those pitches better.

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
What would be better? Pitch speeds at 7 or 8 on all star with maybe timing at 4? Or the OP set on HOF? My swing and miss percentage on HOF is 40% so that’s why I like Allstar. I’m too early on sliders. I could try HOF with off speed speed a little faster.Follow me on Twitch

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Anyone struggling with the offense just stick with it. This game will reward you eventually if you keep grinding at bats. Some games you'll get a bunch of good timings and won't have anything to show for it. Other games it'll feel like any swing you put on the ball is good contact. There are lots of ebbs and flows and patience is a must. My goal for every game is draw atleast 4 BB, that means I take a ton of first pitches. I'm playing with the Rays who have average pop on offense. As you can see a few posts back I'm averaging just over 4 runs a game. I've only played 33 games now, so it's still a small sample, but I've really been waiting for my offense to catch a little fire. The first week of the season we were tearing the cover off the ball but then have came way down to earth, especially recently. Over our last 7 games we were just 2-5, scoring a paltry 24 runs. That's only 3.4 runs per game. That's definitely not going to cut in the AL East. Luckily I found a sure fire cure to anyone who is looking to find their offense, PLAY THE ORIOLES

I suck
Well I don't know.... I'm going to have to keep trying I guess.... I did what you said with the pitch speed I upped the off speed and that didn't work then I upped them both that didn't work (Only to 6) by the way.. and now I'm at I lowered the Fastball speed back to 5 and left the offset at 6. But all these games im hitting (IF I DO HIT AT ALL) I hit grounders or very weak pop ups while the other guys are hitting back to back Jack's off me.
Guess we will see.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Still having an absolute blast with these. Just finished a road trip where I ended up winning the last 5 games, after losing the first 5 games. It was a crazy 10 game ride. I was able to win the last 5 behind some great pitching. It also didn't hurt that 2 games were @ KC and the other 3 @ BAL. During the 5 game winning streak I outscored KC 8-3 and BAL 22-5! That's a combined 5 games of outscoring the CPU 30-8. That's an average score of about 6-2. I also only gave up 3 HR in those 5 games. Just a great stretch for my pitching staff. With all that being said I come home to a 13-21 ARZ team who lights me up for 8 runs, including 3 HR in the first game of the series. Just in those past 11 games you can see how many ebbs and flows there can be. Overall in the 11 games I ended up at 5-6. I scored 50 runs (4.5/gm) and gave up 45 runs (4.1/gm). I also hit 10 HR in those 11 games, while the CPU has hit 11 in the same time frame. Loving the variety right now and everything is still regressing or progressing back to the mean, its amazing,Comment

Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders
Another tidbit to add, turn off vibration when pitching.
Didn’t even dawn on me, but I was enjoying a ton of success pitching when Josh asked me “hey do you have vibration on?”
Turned it off and it really adds a nice dimension to user difficulty.
Foolish of me to not catch that sooner, but a reminder to all: If you aren’t following the OP to a T, then there may be variables introduced that the set does not account for.Twitch: Goblue81188Comment
