    Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders

Well guys seems like things have really slowed down here. Still a fun game but I guess things have plateaued where we don’t require anymore everyday check ins. So before I sign off till next year I would like to thank Josh for these sliders. I have had fun. A lot of fun. Over the last few patches I have seen things happen in game that I had never seen before. I have seen a player climb the wall in Anaheim an it looks like he literally is standing on the edge of the top. He made a ridiculous catch an the crowd boos were so loud. Lol I was playing as the Jays. Year 3 and man do good defenders make a hell of a difference! So much I can say. MLB the show really have done a fantastic job. I look forward to the next instalment. I really do hope they continue to add on but no expectations. Where ever Sony goes from here with a next Gen console. I’ll always be an annual buyer. As long as they keep this up I’m all in! Take care y’all! See you next year!

Howdy guys. I know it's been a while. I just wanted to post kind of my "final update" of what I've been using. It's actually reverting back to an older setup I used earlier this year with contact at 5 and pitch control at 6....plus some pitch speed adjustments thanks to some good advice from GMan. Nothing too earth-shattering, I just wanted to do a final "administrative update" to the OP.

I took a long break from my Reds franchise but am starting to get back into it (I'm at the end of July and within striking distance of first place...even though I am a game under .500).

JoshC1977, have you tried other sliders sets like Armor’s? What do you think about it? What’s the difference between his and yours? Have you made any changes to sliders or difficulty?

        Thanks

I’m going to try using these to get a new RTTS off the ground. I’ve had an itch to play The Show again and would like to create a position player instead of a pitcher this go around.

I'm having trouble getting the CPU to throw balls. It seems like they constantly throw strikes and usually it's right down the middle, even relievers coming in with low confidence/stamina..any help on that?

I haven't seen any issues with the OP - but there is a key, you HAVE to take strikes. They'll tempt you with pitches in the zone to try to induce weak contact. You have to have a plan at the plate and swing at pitches in the meat of your hitter's zone. If you just swing at every strike, they will just keep throwing them. By taking strikes and working deeper counts, they will start to nibble more, that leads to the pitches outside the zone (and usually just off the edge, so you have to be disciplined). If you're not routinely seeing 12-15 pitches in a 1-2-3 inning, you're swinging too frequently.

Something else similar that may help. Try always taking the first pitch. It will increase pitch count and if it is a strike, they will usually try to paint a corner to get you to 0-2, but you increase your chances to get more hittable pitches. Best case you get to 1-0 and they may come at you with a good pitch to hit the or you move to 2-0 and are in a good hitter's count.

Has anyone tried using these sliders but with HOF pitching instead of all star? I started a season with the white Sox and easily went 8-0 to start the year....had a 2.5 era and hit .330 so games weren’t really close....need more of a challenge but liked how the hitting plays on all star. Thoughts?

Eight games down, come back after you play another 30 or 40 (frankly, even that is too small of a sample size but it's passable).

I'm not trying to be a jerk....but you will have these stretches...you have to be patient.

Just make sure you're following the OP settings exactly (classic/directional, no visual aids turned on, etc.).

Alright...i'll give it a shot. I will say I have been using meter pitching just becasue i am way more used to it, ive never used classic before - is this the reason I am dominating so much pitching?

Could I stay on meter but bump the difficulty to HOF? Or is it a MUST that I switch to classic and stay on AS?

Let me know. Thanks again Josh!!!

5 games in to using this setup and so far I love it. Pitching is very challenging but I'm having realistic success with it. Hitting, I'm not scoring much but it's more about my impatience than the settings. I can blast a HR but its stringing hits together thats my problem. Not using the PCI ianymore is definitely challenging with the less than good hitters.

Also regarding directional hitting, what happens if I dont choose a direction at all? Because that's pretty much what I've been doing not selecting a direction.

Yeah, meter pitching is very input based which degrades a lot from ratings. You could try it on higher difficulties but i have no idea how it would work for you.

I use no influence swings about 80% of the time. Your swing timing, the hitter’s hot zones, and his ratings will dominate the outcomes.

Other directional influences are good situationally (if you want to go oppo field) or if you have an extreme pull or push hitter.
