Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 20 Sliders

    Hey Mike,
    I have a couple questions.

    1. Is this an appropriate set of sliders for multiplayer in custom leagues? I see a lot of people using for franchise or cpu vs cpu but is it good for multiplayer too?

    2. One of my biggest gripes about this game in recent years is how I hit the ball with the center of the PCI but I get good/okay feedback and 91 mph exit velocity on a 98 mph that i squared up which is unrealistic. Do these sliders solve any of those problems?

    3. Another issue I've had with this year's game is that pitcher accuracy seems quite poor. With analog pitching, often I get a perfect release on the meter, but then the ball ends up right down the middle even though I aimed for the corner. Do these sliders improve that?

Also, just as a more general question, have you experienced these same issues that I have?

Thanks in advance for your help!

      1) Too easy to make contact. This is by far the biggest issue out of the box, but I get it too--14 year olds don't want 7 pitch ABs where they are swinging and missing. You see this in the way SDS built DD.

      2) Everyone is just too damn fast, whether it's fielders, baserunners, etc. Speed impacts a lot of things in video games.

      3) Then we get into the finer issues, such as "WHY are we making too much contact, and how do we fix that?" "Why aren't there any injuries?" "Which hitting view helps produce the output we're looking for?" etc.

That all adds up over time; I definitely didn't wake up one day and do it all in one day. The community feedback has helped tremendously as well, and none of this would be possible (or worth the hassle) if the game wasn't already pretty darn solid out of the box.
In terms of the speed, I feel you. I kept seeing guys get lackadaisical with throws, and found reaction to be the culprit. I bumped that to default while knocking down fielder speed at 3. Counter acted fielder speed with runner speed at 3. I'm now not seeing slow guys score from 1st. They now go from 1st to 3rd on balls down the line. I've had balls drop in front of guys. Diving plays in the gap, and diving plays missed clearing the bases. Your hitting adjustments helped me out a ton with getting better ABs with my Mets franchise. I now fear opposing studd's, and am not going 7 with my staff every game. These are some kick *** sliders you've made here. Enjoying watching the streams and having you give game on your ideology on the sliders. Thanks, homie...

But do they count each run scored or each scoring play? For example, if I hit a grand slam, do I count that has 4 for the runs scored or just 1?

Hey there! I got curious based on what he said. These are the stats that I just ran for the last 5 MLB seasons IRL:

2019: 47% of all Runs scored by home run
          2018: 42%
          2017: 44%
          2016: 42%
          2015: 39%

          We're definitely trending up

EDIT: However, you NEED to keep in mind what team you have. Example: Last 3 years, 52% of Yankee RBI's have come from Home Runs while in that same time span, the Giants have scored 35% of their runs via HR. Consider your lineup in this!

EDIT 2: To answer BryanM's question, yes you count each RBI. Grand Salami would be 4 Runs.

Thank you. Yeah, that can definitely fluctuate. And that is why I thought maybe they did by scoring play and not RBI’s.

I'm finding that the computer is throwing too many balls - there have been multiple times where the computer has walked up to five batters in a row.

Has anyone noticed that as well, and if so, what would be the fix?

That's rare, but can happen. If it bothers you, put CPU Pitcher Consistency back to 6.

Great sliders but I have some sugestions. I'm playing RTTS and had to make some changes.
Right now I'm trying to play with these
Human contact to 4 (at 5 I had 370. average)
Human power 4 (at 3 I had 28 homers after 120 games in 2 season with power around 95, with contact at 5 and power at 4 I had 58 easy)
Human timing 3 (because contact is at 4 now)
CPU Pitcher consistency 6 (at 5 there was too many walks)

Rest of the sliders seems fine for me.
Try it and tell the results you have.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 20 Sliders

Just tried these out in a three-game series against the Rockies in Coors. I'm the Padres, with a couple of trades.

I hit 11 homers and they hit 10. Now, they have terrible pitchers and my pitchers are average at best, and it was the 3-5 starters. Also, I imagine Coors has some stadium effect here.

But that does seem a bit high. Any advice? Should I no longer use Zone? (homers seem to happen almost everytime i perfectly place the PCI and get a perfect or good hit). Up hitting to Legend? Reduce Power or Quality hits? Or simply allow for more sample size?

Just so you know RTTS drops your gameplay levels depending on what level in the organization you’re at. For example, if you’re using HOF for hitting then that’s what it will be on when you get to the MLB. But while in AAA even though it doesn’t say it anywhere, you will be playing on All Star. In AA again even though it doesn’t mention it anywhere, you will be playing on Veteran. The game is always been this way. If you’re raking in AA that’s expected because you’re playing on Veteran. I wouldn’t touch any sliders until you start facing MLB competition, just my two cents.

I play at legend and it's my 3rd MLB season. All stats were from MLB and legend. I have 70 games left in this season and I'll wrote how is that working for me. After 20 games it feels more realistic. More strikeouts, less homeruns, and average around 300. with player contact at 73.

I don't play in an online league, so you'd need to see how it goes for yourself. Report back to help out others.

No, because "good/okay" means you did not square it up. 91 MPH exit velocity is above average.

I do not recommend analog pitching as I find it the least realistic option. While buttons are rather simple, it works. An argument in favor of analog being realistic because of the motion is like saying Golden Tee best represents a golf swing.

v1.1 already addresses some of this. Your recs are from v1.0 so outdated.

You should play more games. This is the most important part. Nothing can be determined after just 1 series, especially one in Coors.
