Mike Lowe MLB The Show 20 Sliders

Hey Mike... Checking in again with some help adjusting my sliders. A few pages back I posted about my HR numbers being too high and the CPU struggling a little too much to score.

I just played a game against PHI with ATL.. These were some key stats

I hit 6 HR with 10 total hits. No wind in the game

PHI hit 3 HR on 3 total hits.

This has been an issue since I've adjusted some of the sliders. I think the issue is too many of my hits are HR's. The AI seems to be alright. I think they just had an outlier of a game.. (I'm currently 12th in HR allowed)

Last year the Twins (1st in HR's as a team) had 307 HR's on 1547 Hits. so 19% of their hits were HR's

    Currently I have 132 HR's in 557 Hits which is about 24%.

At this rate, I'm going to shatter the team HR record.

Freeman also has 30 HR through 64 games averaging 8.2 HR/AB

So he's also going to challenge a HR record.

Since I'm 60+ games into the year, I'm trying to find a solution before my team hits a billion HR's this year lol... Here are my current sliders.

Also if this helps, I'm 26th in Walks Drawn and 14th in K's

    HUM:

    Contact: 4

    Power: 3

    Timing: 3

    Foul: 1

    Solid Hits: 3

I'm thinking solid hits down to 2 and power down to 2?

Right now it’s just hard to tell because my HR’s are balls in centering and getting perfect perfects on. So, I’m not blooping our Hr’s.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 20 Sliders

I’m about 30 games into my franchise & there hasn’t been any injuries on the other teams. My team has been hit pretty hard but nothing from other teams.. I have the injure slider on 6-7 & have my two profiles set up like Mike’s suggestion. I do recall playing a team & one of their players got hurt in game but it wasn’t long term & again no player is showing hurt or on the IL for other teams

Make sure you double check the team profile settings in the “mode specific” tab. It’s sort of tricky to work with it sometimes but I can assure you something is off within there. I’m through 60 games and the league has injuries like normal.

I prefer to use the PCI. Always have. Tried with v 1.5 on legend and I do get hits but not home runs. Does anyone have any advice on whether to move to HOF or maybe put human power up a tick? Thanks

Thank you! I will have to check it again, I know I was following what Mike suggested in his stream videos & been doing it the same every year & this year, no injuries yet.. I will check.

Sorry, gents I just don't have time to offer suggestions one at a time. Tinkering with one thing at a time is a wise way to go about things though. There are too many variables for me to diagnosis from a far--it's just not slider-ly ethical!

Haha, it’s understood! I lowered my power and solid hits by one apiece and it’s seemed to help out so far! Hopefully the trend continues!

I feel as though the v1.5 gives folks a really good base to work from. You all seem to be helping each out and helping yourselves in adjusting, and just remember that keeping things simple in your adjustments is very worthwhile.

I'm not finding a ton of enjoyment out of this series lately. Does anyone else feel that way? I'm not trying to deter people as I know this is a very popular game, but I still feel as though it has maybe the 3rd or 4th best gameplay when you really start to dig into the stats and how it all plays out over the long haul. It sort of ruins the experience for me, and definitely not something I'd want to keep at for 162 games. Just sharing some thoughts.

I'm spoiled perhaps with OOTP Baseball, but I feel MLB The Show becoming a chore to try and play. I'm just finding myself enjoying doing plenty of other things instead, even during a lockdown.

I'm happy to put the time into a game/series that seems worth it, but I have just fallen out of love with this game and its direction more and more the past few years. It's not that it's a bad game, but I also don't consider it to be a very good game--I'd say good or above average at best when you're strictly talking about the franchise mode experience which is all I really care to play.

Maybe I should just use the Show for a RTTS series or something using these sliders.

Hey Mike, I have been using your sliders the past couple of years and I really enjoy them.

I am finally getting ready to start my franchise. It seems like it took forever to set up all the rosters and put in my pitch edits.

Here is my question: do you feel that the Sliders will give accurate stats for the year? With the TrueSim rosters and the Simulation rosters where they re-rate most of the players, do you feel it is necessary?

I watched your Marlins carry over franchise on youtube where you played every game. Were you satisfied with the results?

I am enjoying your Detroit Tigers franchise as well. The fact that your Tigers are 15-16 and headed into a showdown with the 1st place Royals is quite the accomplishment.

Enjoying your Head Coach stream as well. Will watch the draft episode tonight.

Dude I couldn’t have said it better myself. I just find I’m losing interest even when I want to love the game.

I found a really cool video on YouTube that I’m going to try with a RTTS player. It’s an entire equipment/perks system to help keep things realistic. I plan to do this while using your sliders. I think this could make things really fun and interesting. Worth a shot!

The AI's inability to use anything but contact swing with 2 strikes drives me crazy. It's not realistic when used in every single situation, and no slider set can fix that without making extreme sacrifices in other areas.

The game's inability to strategically and aggressively manage a bullpen.

The game's inability to utilize an intelligent and dangerous run game. They only attempt to steal in early counts, they never try and break-up double plays with a steal attempt on a 3-2 count and less than 2 outs, etc.

Teams don't sign FAs during the year.

For me, franchise just doesn't get the love necessary to warrant spending 162 games of my time in. There are just so many things this game doesn't do well when compared to a game like OOTP Baseball and obviously the real games we (eventually) watch on TV.

I'm still here to help, and I'm not giving up on my franchise necessarily, but it's just not a top priority for me at this moment. For the purposes of this slider set, that shouldn't be too much of an impact as we have people where they need to be for their franchise enjoyment, or at least very close to it.

I think those are all valid arguments. In your opinion, which current sports game does franchise the best? Really enjoying the old NFL Head Coach 09 series you're doing by the way!

Yeah, Head Coach is amazing. I wish Madden would just lump that into the next gen title.

For current games, it's not even close: NBA 2K has the best franchise mode. The complaining you hear about their gameplay stems mostly from online play, and that's not really a sim crowd, so I tune that all out.

NHL probably has the next best franchise mode, but their gameplay, presentation, etc. is a significant downgrade from NBA 2K.

MLB The Show has better gameplay than probably all but NBA 2K, but the issues just bother me, and the fact that the franchise mode is a step above "sucks," doesn't really help much either.

Madden probably is the worst of the bunch, collectively. It's a tough game to get to play realistically, the franchise mode is bare bones, but the draft is at least decent. Then again, you don't see AI teams making trades during the draft, etc. so it's almost necessary to play in an online CFM for Madden.

In all, sports gaming franchise modes are in a Dark Ages, no doubt, but unfortunately one that might never end.

If you're comfortable playing some older titles, the ones I'd recommend for console are:

                                NFL Head Coach 09
                                College Hoops 2K8
                                NCAA Football 14
                                Fight Night Champion
NFL 2K5, although I'm not as in love with that game as most--their offseason is pretty lame. The presentation is awesome though with the halftime shows and weekly wrap-ups. The gameplay is actually really good still too.

All of those older titles, I eventually want to start streaming...just time is the challenge.
