Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I am playing every game but should I keep the Injuries set for 10? It's now June 3rd and currently I have Kopech, Moncada, and Madrigal all on the IL for 3-4 months, plus Gavin Sheets out for 6+. Just trying to figure out if this is fine, or should I knock the slider down a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if I lose Giolito next game for a few months.RIP G.E.A.

Yes absolutely. Part of the grind of a 162 season. Injuries are battled every season. I mean look at the real life Yankees the last two years. Constant injuries.
This tests your bench and farm system. It is part of the fun.
I lost Gary Sanchez three separate times in Year 4 and then lost my starting SS and lead off hitter Trea Turner for the entire post season. Tyler Wade came in.....and won the Post Season MVP!!!!! Hitting a robust .350. It was awesome.
In year 3 I lost Judge two times for 1 month clips etc etc. I love it.Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Playing the Show on PS5 has been incredible so far. Been trying to play 1 game a day at least. It just feels so smooth in so many different ways.
But man am I struggling in my Phillies chise. Got swept by the Marlins, including 2 shutout games, 1 being a no hitter. I was in shock how bad those games were.
At least the Sliders still play perfect on PS5 lol. I just need to regroup after 3 really bad games.Comment

Man..... I’m TRYING to play every pitch of my pirates franchise, but damn it’s slog... plate patience isn’t an issue, but solid contact and power is just so bad....I guess it makes sense, the well rated players do hit well (Brian Reynolds, Josh Bell) but every one else is just bad.....I don’t know if I’ll be able to stick this through!Comment

I usually play 2-4 seasons every year with these sliders and QC. They work really well

Yes getting good contact ratings helps a lot. But as I've improved I have been able to achieve realistic numbers with all my guys but more importantly is the feel of the game is true to baseball, it's fun and the variety of outcomes is outstanding.
My two cents, just get better and you'll be surprised at how well the game plays on this set.

I used to feel this way too. But I've improved my gameplay by a big leap recently and have not had this problem at all. In fact in my classic franchise I lead the mlb in hits through 120 games playing every pitch. In the franchise's I ran before this one I hit about .239 in around 400 games. It was not fun, especially playing every pitch.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Respectfully, I don't think it's about "getting better". My regular Reds franchise did not net the results I get with especially the 1973 set with which I was playing. I have no quantitative data to prove the whiffle ball bat effect, it's just a feel...a very frustrating feel.
1. Player vision ratings. They matter a ton with directional. It's easy to look just at contact/power, but vision is also vital in getting good wood on the ball.
2. Hot/cold zones. I can go on for hours about the importance of hot/cold zones in this game. When players have neutral or cold hot zones, even a highly rated hitter will often feel like he's swinging a wet noodle. When players have red (especially bright red) hot zones, even with meh ratings, they will crush pitches if you get them with good timing. This is where most historical rosters fall apart. Compare the hot zones of 10-15 top hitters in a historical roster and compare them to the top hitters with a 2020 roster. I'll tell you what you find...historical rosters will have pretty much neutral or worse hot zones across the board and the 2020 will have a ton of players with flaming bright red hot zones. This is a "secret sauce" that really changes a lot of players (I'll be honest, I'll take a player with 70/50 contact/power with red hot zones over a 90/80 player with neutral (or worse) hot zones). Sadly, they're not editable but they really make a huge difference.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
