So freaking happy right now.

So MLB The Show 17-20 will be played on the PS5 now and look and play incredible. I literally wanted it just to play what I have right now. I saw how incredible it played in person at one of my son’s friends homes.....it really is a new game on the PS5.

I resigned to the fact it would not happen till Christmas......I followed that guy from Techradar on Twitter and got a tweet at 10:30 AM today that Costco Members can buy bundles.

Signed in and was able to add pne to my cart and checked out as fast as I could.

What sucks is how we have guys here who have PS4's and PS5's - and if we're thinking about the future of classic rosters, there will so many of us all over the map because of the two consoles. I can't locate a PS5 to save my life. It will frustrating to come here and see all these multiple threads on rosters and sliders, etc. - not knowing how to interpret who has what and is providing what...

Isn’t regression a natural part of guys getting older? Guys in real life mlb hit major regression out of nowhere.

It's true, and we've talked about the chicken/egg scenario of attribute regression vs performance regression to death here in OS, and for good reason.

But here's the problem: within the context of the game, it makes more sense with the rest of the game's systems if regression is performance based. As it exists right now, where the game just randomly decide that attribute regression is going to happen to a person because reasons, it doesn't mesh with the rest of the game's systems.

For example, it is entirely possible for a long time star to enter free agency after a stellar year performance wise, and ask for mediocre money because contract negotiations are based on attributes, not performance. That concept would be insane in real life.

My system still allows for early/young regression. Mike Trout is rightfully regressing in my franchise. His stats tanked after the all star break, he hit at the Mendoza line during the playoffs, and has absolutely failed to gain any kind of traction this season in Minnesota. He's not past prime age, but his attributes are going down quickly. Only a good season can save a player from regression. Obviously some personal bias enters this equation, but Trout had been nowhere near good enough to keep his 99 rating. That's why I traded him for a pitching prospect and a fruit basket last off season. I couldn't justify stemming the regression.

Even using the trade system, it will always expose a weakness in a player that wouldn't have been there before.

1. If roster import for MLB 21 on the PS4 version is in but not for the PS5 version I will pretty much play 21 exclusively on the PS4 version of the game. But still provide a base slider set for those who are playing the PS5 version and starting over (I am not starting over until we get confirmation of Y2Y returning for the new gen consoles).

2. If roster import is somehow on the PS5 version then I will play that version exclusively but still again develop a base set for the PS4 consoles.

3. If roster import is not in either version.....I will only develop a base slider set for the PS5 version and I can tell you my continued support of 21 will be not what people are used to because I will be playing 20 pretty much exclusively. In fact if nothing really grabs me on the streams I may end up just skipping MLB 21 altogether with no ability to import rosters for either version.


My thread will have a clear PS4 set and PS5 set. And IMO I think they will both end up looking exactly the same.

It’s won’t be hard to have the thread for both consoles. I will just people to preface their questions with I am playing the PS5 version or PS4 version. Pretty simple.

My commitment is to the OS Show community to at least provide a base HOF/Classic pitching/Directional hitting/auto fielding/manual throwing, slider set for both versions of the game as long as a roster import feature is present for either or both versions.

So everyone can count on that.

My hope is once the streams start we will get the official word on the ability or non ability to import rosters from MLB 20 to MLB 21 (for either or both versions of the game).

Welcome to the club brother!! Tried to tell you for awhile the Show 20 on PS5 is just so better and different....I think you're going to be even more hooked. Glad you bit the bullet and didn't wait, you got lucky one was available.

Had one of those unforgettable moments tonight in my Cardinals franchise using a 21 roster

Rallied from down 4-1 in the 9th to walk it off against Jansen and LA. A single by Carlson made it 4-2 with two on and Goldy coming up. He belted a 3 run shot just to the left of Big Mac Land. No Hr cam so I got to watch the whole ride. On top of that I got to hear the thundering boom of my real Busch Stadium fireworks via SOTS. I was electric and was truly one of those moments I wish I recorded. I may go back and look to see if the PS4 captured any of it. That puts me at 7-3 so far on the season in my every pitch every inning. I am having so much fun with this set its not even funny.

So the injury Matrix worked like a charm. SS Trea Turner was recommended for a day off in game 2 of our critical early season series in May vs the 1st place Rays. I did not sit him.

So after the game with a durability ratings of 67 he rolled a number of 27 which meant he got hurt during the game.

The next roll was to see the severity and he only rolled a 7 (whew). So it was deemed a 7-10 day injury.

So we gave him elbow tendinitis. Brea complained of a sore elbow following the game and an MRI was negative. He was diagnosed with a mild case of elbow tendonitis. So he went on the 10 day IL.

Love this system!!!

In other Yankees news Aaron Judge is being benched for the next 4-5 games. He is right at the Mendoza line through 6 weeks of the 2021 season with 7 HR’s but he also leads the team in walks and K’s. Just a huge struggle after such a great season in 2020. He also signed a massive 6 year extension in July of 2020. The team says Aaron is completely healthy and just needs some time off to decompress and reset his mind.

I know I promised a big update.....I am going to hold off till we finish the month of May in Year 5 then give a really nice recap, player stats and storylines and rumors around the league as well as standings of course.
