Somethings not adding up. If it's really MLB requiring parity between the PS and X versions of 21, then how does the PS4 have SOTS, but the Xbox One version won't?

I'd assume MLB has no care or concern for the Xbox One version but still.

Think SDS needs to be just way more open and clear about everything but I bet they can't. Go too far and MLB won't allow the license anymore, then what?

SDS may have had their hands tied if Xbox doesn't allow custom music at all. But guess we'd need someone with a XBOX to confirm that on release.

I own both systems. I ordered both versions on PS4 and PS5 and will have it on SERIES X on 20th.

SDS making the decision easier and easier. No carryovers. Drastically reduced SotS. No confirmation of Full Minors. No confirmation of roster expansion from 90. Scouting the same. Training the same. Etc etc. Hoping for some pleasant surprises when folks report Thursday night but realistically not expecting any.

As for Full Minors, maybe they are treating it as a new feature they added last year so they don’t see the need to keep announcing it’s in the game every year? I’m just assuming it’s a thing now going forwards until a year comes where they come out and say otherwise. Would be a bit weird to me if SDS full minors was intended as a one off for 20 and then gone.

Also, if the rosters were expanded they definitely would’ve revealed it by now. So no need to say ‘no confirmation’ haha. The odds of it being in the game are about zero now. Launch is days away, what we’ve seen is what we’re getting.

Folks you just got your reasons for not only the removal of Y2Y but now SOTS.

I got slammed by a few people in they general forums stating the move to XBOX (I was speculating but you know I had a strong feeling this was the real reason) was the reason we lost Y2Y saves as well as ability to import rosters.

So here is the deal. The PS4 version of the game will still have sounds of the show. Thats it.

New gen PS5 has been stripped away of two of the very best franchise features in Y2Y and SOTS.

Wow.

Like I said.....stick with 20 folks. You have all you need there.

Rosters, SOTS, simulation based gameplay at the core of the engine.

Who the **** knows what else they have done to this game with the move to multi console platforms.

Who cares.....MLB 20 is the GOAT. And on the PS5 it is like a new game for me.

This is absolute horse **** what they are doing to 21. I never was going to purchase 21 with them taking out year to year saves but now SOTS what in the hell are they doing. I feel bad for all the people on Xbox that will play the show for the first time and don’t get to experience what we have been experiencing for years. SMH.

I could never play this game without SOTS it is the coolest damn feature in sports video games. I can’t believe it took me to last year to finally use sounds of the show.

I’m having so much fun with my Braves franchise on 20 that for the first time in my life I haven’t even took the time to read anything about 21. I just read what you guys have said here on the thread and that’s all I need.

I hope for all of us that 22 we will get the things we love back but I’m not optimistic at all. I do believe the game play on the ps5 will be amazing and for you guys that have been lucky to get a ps5 and are purchasing the game I’m sure you will love the gameplay. I am looking forward to hearing all about it on this thread.

I am absolutely gutted. Walk up songs, 1 HR song, and 3 slots for pitcher entry music (that will possibly just be generic and so you will not even be able to assign specific songs to certain guys) is incredibly disappointing in my eyes. As someone who is sometimes more concerned with the atmosphere of a ballpark and is obsessed with immersion as many of us are, this is a massive setback for me.

Not going to lie, I’m not a Y2Y player, and I usually restart my chise every new cycle so I was willing to deal with the eliminations of features along with limited cosmetic changes to franchise mode...but this? Neutering the game in this way has seriously caused me to want to continue on and restart with 20. I was hopeful and willing to deal with the changes coming to 21, as I know going into a new generation would bring about change, and I wasn’t truly and honestly considering going back to 20, but with SOTS being watered down to an abysmal abyss?

Some serious contemplation for me in the next 7 days considering I’ve already pre ordered the standard version of 21.

I had heard these rumors months ago, but with the introduction and announcement that 21 would be using the “3D Audio” of the PS5, I figured it would, if anything, make SOTS even better. I have played hours of the 21 Tech Test, with the hope of preparing and getting ready for 21 to come out (since there are a few significant changes in the hitting engine) but it all feels like a giant waste right now. And don’t get me started on the hours of researching (with Shazam next to the TV) player walk up music and stadium songs for the upcoming season. I figured it would be a blessing to have the game come out later so that way I had more time to gather SOTS and be ready to roll at launch. All, pretty much a waste, with the exception of the SOTS that PS5 will allow. To be honest, half the reason I love to win games in my chise is so that I can get the payoff of hearing “Go Cubs Go” after a long and hard-earned win. Same goes for NYY fans and their prestigious win song (as Armor would know).

No Y2Y has turned Armor away from 21, amongst other things (check swings, no serious franchise improvements)...etc. I will never speak for someone else, but the deteriorated SOTS has been the dagger in my heart and though I really wasn’t considering continuing with 20, it seems more likely that I will at the moment...being left with $76 in the drain only to play created stadiums with

Well said. I just could not ever imagine taking THIS BIG of a step backwards on a new game and a new gen on top of that. I feel like I’m going from MLB 20 to MLB 13 with updated gameplay.

I assume it will be the list of 15 songs that we get to choose from on the jukebox.

If they wanted to make money? Make us buy those songs so we can have them.

I don’t think I can cancel my preorder since I already downloaded it. I researched it. So I’ll see how things are on Thursday night. Really regretting spending the extra $14 to get it early.

Sounds like I am one of the few people who is excited about 21. I typically start a new franchise each cycle, so no Y2Y saves is not a factor for me. And SOTS sounded great, but looked like too much work to set-up so I never used it.

I’m looking forward to better graphics (even if they aren’t a giant leap) & animations, and buttery smooth gameplay since I wasn’t able to find a PS5 and haven’t been able to experience 20 on it.

I’ve got a 4 day weekend and can’t wait to immerse myself in this game again.

No....that is not correct. The feature set must be an exact match on the XBOX.

When SDS signed their new license agreement with MLB they were dictated to by MLB and Microsoft that the games must be identical.

Hence the removal of Y2Y saves
Hence now the gutting of Sounds of the Show as Microsoft does not permit the use of third party music inside games played on XBOX.

I have full sounds of the show on the PS5 for MLB The Show 20.

That is the answer.

That has been the answer and I was razzed at by some for speculating way back when Y2Y was removed that most of it had to do with the move to XBOX.

People were trying to rationalize it was done t improve franchise mode.

LOL yeah ok.

We saw how that is turning out. Franchise mode has a new depth chart screen, removed the weekly budget screen (it works exactly the same folks just a new annual screen which BTW was there in future budget screen to see what your team cap was anyway), a supposed better trade and contract logic (which will be tested and we will see if the CPU is really that much more improved and if so...great!).

That’s it.

Nothing else.

No expanded rosters
No rotating inter league schedules
No improved CPU pitcher logic
No improve CPU lineup logic
No improved in game CPU strategy logic
No improved bunting
No improved Presentation.....in fact now it has taken 10 steps back with no full SOTS suite.
No changes to play by play or color commentary
No improved scouting
No improved drafting
No improved player progression or regression (it’s not that bad anyway)
No fully editable managers and coaches


Shall I continue?

Oh yeah.....of course they developed a new stadium creator which is robust and looks great.....but again...the core franchise mode needed a lot more than that. I realize people have been pining for it....but the stripped out features (Y2Y and SOTS) are far more important and immersive than a stadium creator. I venture to say most wont use the creator (like most did not use the Y2Y). But what Y2Y did was allow content creators (roster artists) to move all the great rosters year to year for our enjoyment.

MLB 20 GOAT!!!!!!! Have fun with that one guys....we have a fantastic game already. Hopefully in a few years we get things we really want....but I am for the first time very pessimistic about the direction of the studio and the game.

Sad to say. And I wish I could be more positive because everyone here knows I have always been an enthusiastic supported of this game, Dev team and community. However our niche group here is a a dying breed. The game is developed for DD players first and foremost. make no mistake. They are more concerned with guys competing online and making BR runs and buying stubs and packs. Facts.

And those that know me also know....I call it like I see it. This sucks. Period.

I max them out in actual games I play and drop it to 6 when I simulate all the other games around the league (before I play my game so the ticker shows the scores as I employ 30 team control).

The reason?

I want durability to matter, I want the scheduled days off to matter, I want depth to matter and I want there to be a price to pay if you push lower durability guys too hard.

I also created the injury matrix as you can see on the OP to add another layer of dice roll simulation for position players and pitchers. It works fantastically well.

I have never had this much fun playing franchise mode on any sports game ever.

It's funny reading the other thread and people want to blame SDS, but your reason is basically the answer.

MLB is dictating all of this so that the Show could be on Xbox. If anything petitions should be directed at MLB for this.

I knew the Show going cross platform was going to bring issues, and MLB made it even far worse now demanding the game to be the same on all platforms(Excluding PS4 for some reason lol).

I'm not a huge Y2Y guy, but SOTS? I literally cannot imagine playing the Show without custom music. I wouldn't even start a chise every year until all the SOTS's were set up. Just can't play a game without them.

It's definitely BS that PS5 Version can't have full SOTS, because XBox doesn't allow custom music anymore. That's removing 1 of the best and critical features of the game for immersion.

So glad I didn't pre-order 21 at all. Hell if anything sounds like the best version will be PS4 Version on PS5, which unfortunately is just a slight upgrade from 20, if at all.

Tell me this though, if 21 on PS4 can have full SOTS, why can't it have Y2Y saves and Rosters?
