Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
This is normally my favorite time of the year. I have never missed a Show release in 13 straight years.
The removal of year to year saves and roster importing for MLB 21 on the PS5 was a huge blow to players like myself and others who have embraced playing every pitch, every inning of our franchises and also playing with classic rosters.
The team (SDS) simply has not revealed enough to sway me to simply abandon nearly a decade of commitment to several franchises and more importantly the amazing roster content that has accumulated over the years.
With that being said I do believe 21 will be a great playing game of baseball as usual. But I will not be getting the game on release for the first time since 2009.
I would say plug these sliders into 21 from the get go. I truly believe they will probably be a perfect laugh point and you can tweak it from there. Also being this is your first foray into the series being an XBOX player.....you may want to ramp up your skill level before jumping head first into “Hall of Fame” level.
DO I see myself picking up 21 down the road? Yeah sure.....I can see giving Road To The Show a run with the new enhancements they made to presentation inside that mode. I can see again trying to give March To October a run with a few teams. And my hope is some great classic rosters do eventually get put into the PS4/5 vault to take advantage of the new stadium creator (as I am sure there will be a ton of awesome classic parks created and shared in the park vault).
But that will probably not come for several months....I am talking October, November of this year.
So have a blast with the game. I think XBOX players will be blown away and see what they have been missing all these years (if they never played the Show).
We are sticking with MLB 20 on the PS5 and loving it and all the franchise’s and rosters we have.
GOAT MLB 20 and the end of an era in Classic Rosters.
We need confirmation that 22 will at the very minimum have the roster import feature we got on MLB 20.....otherwise I doubt we see the creative force in the classic roster space we have seen since MLB 14.Comment

Awesome, so when you originally had the wind slider at 5, the wind got up to 13mph in Chicago? Just interested as to if (even at 5) the wind strength at the default 5 will still have intense winds from time to time like in real life at Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate Field...then once we get to the 5th we’ll execute the dice roll to see how things play out the rest of the game

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I think it works as a multiplier of some kind, although what the multiple is I'd have to more research.
Based on my testing, I'd say it's something like this.
Wind effect = (R*Sm) + (Sv - NTW)
R = random variable pulled from a pool of variables. Pool will be more limited or open based on the stadium. For example, it is extremely common for strong tailwinds to occur in Yankee stadium, giving us a clue to what that stadiums random variable pool might look like.
S = slider setting
Sm = slider multiplier. While I can't be sure what the multiplier is, I do know it exists because (R*Sm) = wind speed.
Sv = an effect boost that wind has on ball movement based on sliders. I have tested ball movement at similar wind speeds and noticed a difference.
NTW = stands for Not Tail Wind. Reduces the effect of Sv in all directions except tailwind. I think this is due to the realities of Newtonian physics, but in my opinion it's miscalculated.
Hopefully you can see why a worded answer wouldn't suffice.
I have my wind set to 9. If I could do them separately, I'd set all winds but tailwind to 10 and tailwind to 8, maybe even 7. This is all due to that (in my very rough eyeball test estimate) Sv being too high and NTW also being too high as a consequence. Wind speeds are fine at 10.

After reading your response upwards of 7 times, I think I now have an understanding! Haha, I really appreciate the detailed response and am definitely following the bread crumbs you’ve left in your description!

Stadium Creator looks and sounds great, but I needed more than that.
And with 20 playing and looking so great on PS5, why bother jumping, when I'm too invested in my favorite Chise? Especially since can't carryover.
I'd have to believe 21 will be on PS Plus at some point. I can hold out til then. I'll be looking forward to anyone's impression on 21 if anyone in this thread will be getting it lol.Comment

I didn't make it easy on ya! I know I dumped a lot on you, but it was in the hopes that you could see that I couldn't give just simple yes or no answers to your questions. If you have any more, feel free to ask.Comment

Definitely agree with all of this. I normally impulse buy the Show every year, just cause it's fresh and new. But this year, I see no reason to.

It’s not only very much appreciated, but very kind of you as well!
Also, I will not make a cardinal sin of the forum by asking you if you make slider sets and what they are, considering I plan on sticking with A&S as long as he keeps doing this. But do you play these sliders, and if not, what differs for you? I’ve always been fascinated with your work, as well, and also as if you’ll be getting next gen and 21...because for us who plan on making the jump right away, we’ll be on our own lol.

I'm not planning on getting 21. Mostly due to no year to year. Without that, I need to weigh improvements against having to drop the franchise I started in 2014. 21 just doesn't have what it would take for me personally to do that.
Even if I were to change my mind, it'd be for the PS5 version only. If I'm going to give up my carry over, I at least want to build some spring training facilities as compensation. However, finding a PS5 in Canada right now...

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Lol I'm guessing you don't look at the slider forum much outside of Armor's thread. I play my own sliders. I'm not going to recommend playing them though, if you're playing armor's sliders and loving it, stick with it. I'm a big believer in playing your game and building your own experience. My main goal here in the forums is to be a resource, someone who helps, but doesn't dictate. Heck I only even started sharing sliders because people asked, and it gave me a platform to share my breakdown of each individual slider.

Still somewhat new to the OS forums, so you are correct, but certainly learning things daily thanks to users like you and Armor, etc.
The advice and guidance is always appreciated WarmWind!

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
The rationale was this in the general forum:
“If the removal of Y2Y was needed to improve the core franchise mode then I am for it”
Yeah how did that work out. Franchise updates?
Hey guys we got a new depth chart!!!
Hey guys we removed the weekly budget screen and now it only reads as a yearly. Still the same exact budget, still works exactly the same...but hey it is an update right?
We also tuned contract and trading logic (but we already saw Lindor in a stream take well under what he signed for IRL). It will be tested and we will see what was really done.
Guys it was horse ***t.
The classic roster community was incinerated with this move to XBOX because the feature set needed to be exactly the same as PS. This has nothing to do with how franchise mode is going to work on 21.
It is pretty much the same old franchise mode we have had since MLB 15-20
And that is ok. I play the crap out of it. It just really sucks we have 7 years worth of rosters that culminated with the enormous amount of content we all have on 20 going up in smoke with being unable to move it to 21 on the next gen.
And for what?
They basically did nothing to franchise mode. They did nothing in terms of presentation updates, they did nothing in terms of expanded rosters. They did nothing in terms of more customization in franchise mode (except creating your own park if that is your thing). Lineup and bullpen logic? Untouched. Just a real lack of anything with substance. Seriously.....just whatever.
I am sure MLB 21 will play great. And the stadium creator looks really good.
Roster creators are starting from ground zero with zero knowledge that whatever they create on 21 can even move to 22.
Zero visibility and the lack of transparency from SDS on this has been a kick in the balls to the longtime fans of the game.
I have always defended and given them the benefit of the doubt. But their lack of telling us what really is going on tells me one thing.
We are not a priority.
No problem. Neither is my priority to buy the game at full retail until I feel it deserves it.
Right now? Not a chance.
MLB 20 is my game for the foreseeable future.
In 5-6 months if some killer classic rosters drop and classic parks are being created and the game plays as good as 20? Yeah maybe.
But the whole notion this was done for franchise mode has been proven false.
Pure horse ***t
Common sense speaks volumes.
