Well said, Armor.

I am really going to try to do what you do with a team this year. I’ll play a couple 162 game seasons with a few teams but never carry over. If I did that, I would never have to worry about waiting for rosters to come out because I would have my own baseball world the next season.

I might just do that this year.

It is liberating to simply carry over your franchise year to year. It truly becomes your baseball universe. try it on for size. I would bet you will never go back to constantly starting fresh.

Hey Armor,

Not trying to clutter the thread. Are these going to be posted to the vault once they are official? Also, could they work with zone hitting? I've been trying directional but just can't get the hang of it. Other than that I love the clean screen approach. So much more fun and rewarding.

I just wanna say I'm having an absolute blast playing '20. My year 2 chise is in Spring Training and while we are 1-5 the games have been immersive and really fun! The gameplay improvements over '19 are marvelous. Outfield assists are a thing now! I hosed a guy at home in game 1! It was organic, smooth and had to be played perfectly to work. The separation between good and poor fielders is evident and really cool. The progress on the minor league rosters is very exciting. I can't wait to get home from work just to play a spring training game!

Great sliders as always, Armor. I am simply amazed at how close to default works! Most impressed with the solid hits being more real than ever at default. I have one question though a little off topic ...Are the sliders fully 'in effect' during Spring Training games?...I normally do not play Spring Training but I am this year so I'm looking for some thoughts from folks that normally play Spring Training games. After two games I am hitting the ball better than I ever have and pitching great with anyone that steps on the mound. It has been unreal! I know sample size..I'm not looking to change anything at all. But is this just a case of starting hot or a case of the game not playing to HOF because it's Spring Training?

- Spring Training is anything goes time for me. You will get results all over the map because you have a ton of guys trying to make the 26 man roster and you are going to give plenty of chances to guys who are probably not making the MLB roster. Same for the other teams. They will be pitching guys and playing guys who are simply overmatched. So have fun in the Spring....and then it all comes together in the regular season.

What’s the thought on fielder speed and reaction being bumped down to 4? I usually consider this if I’m not seeing enough balls get down in the outfield. It definitely has not been the case this year. And I can sell a distinct difference between running a ball down with Albert Almora compared to Kyle Schwarber.

- I am personally seeing a better "ratings spread” between Elite/Goood/Average/Below average players in the field. I like it to matter just a wee bit more. I have not seen nearly enough of an uptick in offense to think it is a bad move. Quite the contrary. It is becoming more believable when we see amazing web gems from the guys who really should be making those plays. I felt after a few dozen games at default I was seeing a tick too much excellence from average guys. I think the adjustment is perfect. And not extreme at all. Try it out!

So you are not seeing more hits or doubles than at 5/5? Are you still seeing realistic dive attempts. Dive attempts this year and balls dropping in front of fielder seem more organic this year.

- Not really. I am seeing what should be a gap double now because an average CF could not dart to it like an Elite guy.

Armor, question for you. In the past, you've done All-Star and HOF settings for hitting, depending on player preference. Are you doing that again this year or sticking strictly with HOF? Just curious. Thanks as always.

- I am sticking strictly with HOF. My suggestion for All-Star is to follow JoshC1977’s approach but feel free to ask me questions on any potential adjustments if your not “feeling” all of it. Josh is an awesome dude. And I trust him unequivocally in the slider department. We often talk and share thoughts and notes.

Armor, are you sticking with the Sony rosters or Ridins newly released rosters once you finalize your settings? Thanks

- Hey man. Yes once I feel they are final....I will upload them to the vault. But...they are really easy to input and save yourself. The adjustments are minimal!

so what you're saying is if that someone sees things other than you do, your seniority here at OS allows you to point fingers at everyone else as the problem? Ok, just wanted to make sure...

one thing i've learned in my 47 years on this planet: feelings and opinions, though different from mine, are never "wrong" - they're just different, and i don't get to be the one who says that someone else's thoughts are invalidated.

i get it - you're a pillar here. but people like me (who are probably in that group you're alluding to here) are seeing some things differently following the 1.04 game update. i read ALL slider threads because i like to see the ideas others have and what they're seeing. i appreciate your efforts here. but a post like this one above only sets people apart as king of the mountain, and it's a mountain to play a video game on. i just didn't like the tone of this and making it look like you have all the answers and we're just living in your world... thanks.

I can’t vouch for Zone hitting. I simply never use it or test it with these sliders. Give it a shot.

I’m going with Ridin rosters that I have fixed for what works with me. Debating if I want to go through spring training to do some position battles or just dive right in. I know if I skip right to the regular season it automatically sets my active roster but doesn’t (I don’t think) charge anybody one of their options. When I do spring training and send someone down during spring training, I believe it tells me doing so will use one of the player’s options. I don’t want to do spring training and have to have 14 guys use their options to start the season. Am I wrong or is there something I’m not doing right?

Hits Allowed 431 - 27th

Base On Base Allowed 80 - 1st ( And I pitch with no vibration nor any aid)
Strikeouts 333 - 24th

These games were played with a mixture of settings , Power 5 and power 4 with solid hits being on 4 since day 1 . Pitch Speed 8 and 10 for most games , and after playing 3 full seasons on MLB the Show 19 my conclusion is that it's a lot easier to hit in this edition of the game .
CPU Pitchers really contribute to this slugfest by being too careless in this game , they just throw meatballs down the middle far too often . I'm constantly finding myself in a hitters count and then here comes the meatball right down the middle that gets crushed . I Just think the CPU pitchers I.Q is very poor in this game . I'm sticking with power 4 , solid hits 4 and I'm now trying pitch control and consistency at 6 for the CPU pitchers .

Teoscar Hernandez is a MVP candidate early on due to performances like this . We took on the exciting White Soxs away here and Hernandez continues to take the league by storm with some serious clutch Bombs . Just truly wild stuff . And this is on power 4 , solid hits 4

I have them on manual. I always do my own shifting based on batters, situations etc.

I have three franchises going right now folks.


Our Year 4 Yankees is in full swing.

We began Bacon’s Fictional Twins Year 1 (simply incredible roster folks)

And we did it.......we started a Miami Marlins Rebuild in year one using the latest roster update from SDS.

The game owns my soul. It really is incredible. This will go down as my most played version of The Show ever. I see no other game being played for the next year.....being deadly serious here LOL.

If I play spring training, do I have to have all the players that I send down at the end of spring training use one of their options? It tells me I have to if I try so I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong.
