Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

So taking a two days off has got my head right. I was so much more patient at the plate I was in such a funk that I was pressing so much. In my two games today I scored 7 and 6 runs. It didnt help my pitching but I did win one of the two games. My pitching staff is struggling so bad from my starters all the way through my bullpen. I'm feeling a turn around soon I hope. Lol

I need it because the last 2 and half months are going to be tense since the Braves Nats and Phillies are all within a half game of each other.

After losing a 14-9 slugfest to the Reds in game 2 of our series, game 3 has picked it right back up. We scored 5 runs and batted around in the 1st inning and knocked out Anthony Desclafani after 0.2 IP. Then in the bottom of the 1st, Joey Votto crushed a 3-run homer. 8 runs combined already and only the 1st inning. Better put my seat belt on it appears.

Also just saw the HUM consistency change to 6. All for it. I was actually thinking of moving that myself before I saw it listed on here. I've allowed 22 home runs as a pitching staff in 14 games so far. That's just insane.

Actually consistency has been at 6 since version 3

Control was the move to 6 in version 4 and power down to 4 for both the hum and cpu.

You're right. I meant to write control and not consistency.

The amount of fire in the classic roster department this cycle is going to rival MLB 12 and 16 in terms of content the sheer amount of replay-ability.
I feel you on this! I got a two-team franchise with some created teams and Ridins Rosters, a 1961 season replay, a carryover Marlins chise and just started a franchise where I'm going to player-lock Bo Jackson on the "Las Vegas Raiders."

I still have so many ideas for potential franchises on top of that! There is such a great variety of classic and fictional rosters!

I’m curious to hear from non-clean screen players like me. Are you leaving control at 5 if you have pitch select display on, swing/pitch info on and pitching ball marker turned to classic on? Or do you feel that control still needs to be moved to 6 with these non-clean screen settings?

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

So a night after losing game 2 of a 4 game series to the Reds 14-9, I returned the favor in game 3 with a 14-5 victory. The Reds bullpen is absolutely exhausted in this series. In the first 3 games, they have pitched 16 1/3 innings and I've shelled them for 28 hits and 22 runs in the first 3 games with still one game to go in the series! It's been a blast. They overused Amir Garrett so much in the series that he ended up leaving game 3 with an injury. I've never exhausted a bullpen this much in a series before. It's interesting to see. They're so tired they are hanging pitches left and right.

Power was on huge in this game as I hit 5 doubles and 6 home runs! 2 each for Bryce Harper and Jay Bruce.

Jay Bruce continues to be money for me! The man has only had 19 at-bats in 15 games and is hitting .526 with 10 hits, 3 doubles, 4 home runs, 14 RBI, and 8 runs scored. Beastly.

Which brings me to a predicament I need opinions on. Rhys Hoskins has been absolute garbage for me to begin the season. He is hitting .158 with 1 double, 3 home runs, 5 RBI, 8 runs scored, 10 walks, and 24 strikeouts in 57 at-bats. Dreadful. I know it's still really early but do you think this is enough for me to either bench him or send him to AAA to get right? I would love to play Jay Bruce everyday and he can play first base, but I also love knowing he is a weapon off the bench for me late.

                Thoughts?

I have pitch select display on and the ball marker turned on as well. I leave swing/pitch info off. I am with Armor in that HUM control needs to be at 6. Too many meatballs otherwise. Not that there still can't be at 6, but it would be toned down some.

I'd say platoon them, or start Bruce more often and see if he stays hot.

Curious if anyone thinks raising HUM control and lowering CPU power will nerf CPU offense too much?

I’m not having issues with “too much power” from CPU, but definitely thinking the human control needs a +1.

I will say, as a disclaimer, I was using classic pulse pitching, as I like that interface. I have, however, given that up for classic—and am definitely throwing more balls, issuing more walks, and missing more spots (sometimes VERY poorly).

I am near the top in all pitching categories, and am 19-7 with the Yankees VERY EASY April schedule.

It’s all a personal preference but I’ve been using control at 5 and consistency at 6. It’s been working fine for me.

Yeah I know. My only issue is that pitching has been too easy.

Again, weak schedule plus playing predominantly with pulse pitching (but using exact sliders). So I take it with grain of salt.

Played first game of Indians series (prior to slider update) who are 19-8. It was 2-1 and Sevy was dealing. All 3 runs were solo HR. This was the lowest scoring game I’ve had in a while.

Ahhh Rhys, he's a tough one. I don't know what it is, whether it's his stride or timing of swing but I struggled with him beginning of the season. He definitely will have cold and hot streaks during the season, but I say stick with him. Just move him up and down the lineup.

I have him in the 4 spot, but protected w/ Harper in front of him and Didi or JT behind him. I'm in Sept and Rhys is batting .267 w/ 34 HRs and 113 RBIs.

But since you do have Bruce playing hot, rotate him in more often. I wouldn't drop Rhys down to AAA though.

                                Thoughts?

I'd give him around 100 at bats before considering sending him down but before then I'd certainly give him some more days off and use contact swing to try and get him going.
