boy, I am having a hard time with this game the last three days. I don´t know, if the patch changed something. I am seeing way tooo many hits by the CPU. I went back to the OP sliders, because I thought, my slider changes are not working out, but it stays the same. The problem I face is, it doesn´t make fun and feels so skripted.
Every inning there are players on base. It can start like that: 2 easy outs, very confident, ahead with 2 strikes and suddenly nothing is working. I either get three balls (at the edge, but ruled as ball, pathetic balls way out off the zone) or a very easy pitch into the middle that leads to a double. That happens with different outcomes, either 2-3 runs or an out but then the runs happen in the next inning.
Don´t get me wrong, I like the offense, but my pitchers never get to the high confident level. CPU gets 4-5 doubles a game.
You could say, I just suck at pitching, but last week, I was getting 10+ ks and very little hits and runs, just like last year.
Something else I have to watch closely, I started several Franchises the other week with the roster full minors 2.0 and had interesting results, Mets, Braves, Astros, Dodgers all starting with a negative record (I use real life injuries), yesterday I downloaded the fidility roster and all the good teams are leading with very easy wins.
From his box scores he's shared with me, it seems like to me the strikeouts are the same unfortunately though. But simple fix for what you're facing is to lower cpu contact until you see what you're wanting. I would just leave timing alone for now cause strikeouts are going to increase enough already with lowered contact.
I'll pitch only a game for both teams on default Allstar cpu hitting. I'll leave human control/consistency at 3/2. I am seriously doubting they changed anything with their hitting somehow without it mentioned though. Good thing is there is plenty of room to lower cpu contact to make their offense how you're looking for it to be.
The 2 out hits from the cpu have always kind of been a thing though. This year I have to say is the least I've ever noticed it though. Usually I could predict 2 out hits. This year once I get two outs I feel confident I can get the 1,2,3 inning.

In re-reading the patch notes, it doesn't mention anything as far as adjusting cpu hitting, now does this mean that it couldn't be a "stealth" add? absolutely not but I would tend to think that IF the cpu had been made to hit better in some way SDS would have mentioned it.
This is only my opinion, but I think it boils down to which roster is being used and what difficulty it's on.
TBH even before the patch I never had issues with the lack of cpu offensive output, where I did notice a change was when I tried the fidelity rosters and felt like the cpu hits felt more "soft", but that may be due to edits being made, so maybe the base roster is "hyped" up to give more output to the cpu? who knows....People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Looking forward to giving these a go . Been using your sliders for 22and just about at the end of that season . Have had an absolute blast with 22.I play every gm and every pitch , so seasons tend to take me a while. Plus I'm just old and slow .. Been running with Dowie's Cardinals on 22 , but will be switching back to my Rangers for 23.Comment

I have only had the chance to play one game since the patch so hard for me to say. But I know Bryan has played more and has seen an increase of cpu hits compared to what we were seeing.

Just curious... On 22's slider set you guys rolled with Foul Freq. 0/0. I've noticed you have changed to 5/5 for 23. Were you seeing too many balls landing fair and not getting enough foul balls ?Comment

Just want to say for everyone. Use these sliders, or any slider set as a solid base to begin with. What works for us or someone else may not work for you. In the end, the point of the game is to have FUN. So tweak things to make it fun for you to play and want to play.
Our sliders I will admit are very different. They always are and will be. They're meant to give a challenge, and sometimes may feel overwhelming to an extent. The cpu offense on my personal experience hasn't been a threat on default for as long as I can remember. And it's most likely not the game, but instead all of us long time players evolving and getting better at the game. I used to play straight Veteran difficulty and it was challenging for me. Now I could play on legend pitching if I wanted and be good with it.
We want to create a realistic experience that you would see and feel in a 162 game season. And yes, unfortunately that means getting blown out every so often, even if you're the Yankees or the Athletics. Heck, the Phillies got beat by the Reds real life 13-0 yesterday. Phillies felt so helpless they had Josh Harrison pitching to save their bullpen lol. Those games should absolutely happen over the course of 162 games. If they never do then I would say you need to increase the difficulty of cpu offense somehow.
Obviously there is a balance to it, which is extremely difficult to nail down. You're always going to question if it's too easy or too difficult as you go through ebbs and flows of a long season. This is why so many say to just play default sliders and Allstar level. Bryan and I are definitely not in that crowd, but can understand the thought process behind it.
The big reason why we track so much data is so we can see the trend over the course of a handful of games using different teams and quality of pitchers etc. Seeing it all physically, allows us to not need 25+ games on one setting. It's pretty quick and easy to see the direction of certain things within 10-15 games max.
Anyways, as usual I made this way longer than I intended. But full circle, just use these as a base and remember to have fun!

Well, I used a different roster (unedited) and as I suspected the cpu output was definitely there...my Dodgers got throttled in Chicago against the Cubs 9-2.
The hits were pretty much even at 10 for the Dodgers and 11 for the Cubs, the only 2 runs I was able to get was on 2 HR's by Mookie in the 1st and 5th inning.
The Dodgers got into trouble immediately in the 1st inning giving up 4 after taking the early 1-0 lead. Urias struggled but eventually settled down before getting pulled in the 5th leaving the game giving up 8 hits to 4 strikeouts.
As I mentioned the hits felt much more harder, and with authority.

Man I gotta say 23 is the best one yet, with fidelity roster or base these sliders play amazing. the variety is there, the challenge by the cpu is there. Last night I got crush by the Yankees 9-0 only getting 3 hits.. boy I was heated lol came back next game locked in and won 4-3 on a comeback win. I started my franchise over use fidelity roster. Y’all boys did ya thing with these sliders 💯Comment

This is by far the best game yet. Even the small things like the animations. I watched Steve’s game and he won a close one and the last play was a groundout. Josh Bell caught it and pumped his fist on the win.Follow me on Twitch

I restarted the Cardinals franchise using the Fidelity rosters. I’ll play more games today. I have played two games so far with them. I also have played 2 games with the Cubs as well. I was thinking about lowering power to 5 cause in my Mariners franchise with the base rosters I gave up 8 HR in 2 games.
The Cubs season I was trying power at 5 and fouls at 0
MIL 9 15 0 - 3 HR, 1 3B, 7 2B
CHC 5 9 0 - 1 HR, 5 2B
Wind was blowing out at 25 mph. But it was just constant line drives to the gaps.
MIL 3 13 0 - 1 HR, 7 2B
CHC 4 9 0 - 2 HR, 2 2B
Lots of doubles again in the gaps.
So I started the Cardinals and did what was on the OP.
TOR 4 10 0 - 1 HR, 2 2B
STL 5 10 0 - 2 2B
TOR 2 8 0 - 1 HR, 4 2B
STL 5 8 0 - 1 HR, 1 2B
I did go back to play one game with my original Cardinals franchise on the base roster and the Pirates had 19 hits with 1 HR and 3 doubles. But that was with power at 5 and foul at 0 as well.
So I’ll look more and see if I see something off with that roster. I am not seeing the lack of punch and almost see the opposite. But for some reason the games were a little better when I went back to 5 on foul frequency.
But sometimes these custom rosters are tricky. Last year, me and Steve enjoyed playing with the latest rosters from SDS. He would actually go through and edit the ratings when a new roster update came out.Follow me on Twitch
