    Re: S & B’s MLB 2024 Simulation Sliders

I was watching one of the demo games and looked closely at the details.

They definitely have done something with the graphics.
I swear you would even think they brought it up to current gen but of course we know they didn't.

If the PS4 or XBOX One never existed or something and you saw these graphics you would say they were somewhat decent curent gen graphics but they would need some improvement.

The clarity on the graphics is excellent no more grainy pictures. Very pleased with what I am seeing.

It just goes to show they were not putting in the effort in previous versions of the game.

I will post my preliminary sliders up tonight. Mostly default with a couple of adjustments.

TBH, the only issue I have with the graphics in 24 is the grass looks dull and sorta washed out in comparison to the players, it's like they toned down the vibrancy in order for the players to "pop" more.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

Bryan's sliders are the official beginning of the baseball season for me.

The default sliders are good but the infield play is too easy. Too easy to field and turn double plays.

The infield timing of Bryan's sliders is perfect. Weak armed IF cant just gun people out. On the default sliders everyone has rocket arms. Unless a ball is sharply hit it shouldn't be automatic out because in real baseball the batter is going to be hustling up the line as fast as they can.

The slower hit ground balls is where the close plays and the errors take place. The IF must get the ball out at a faster rate. The default sliders just don't simulate that aspect of the game to me. Too easy to throw people out if you ask me.

Preliminary sliders are up. Would like to do more testing using power at 6 because that gives the CPU some extra teeth but sometimes too much teeth and the hit variety goes out of whack since a lot of hits are hard hit. These are tested on HOF for both hitting and pitching. The global sliders still need to do some testing.

Please let me know what you think and if you see anything that needs work. This is definitely work in progress so I’m open to feedback.

The Pitch Clock is a great addition for real baseball, but not so much for the virtual version, is my rapid conclusion.

I've switched it off (because, we're in our homes, we walk away, you'll miss those cheesy between-pitch animations, etc..).

Though if you choose to keep it switched on, you can hold down RT to freeze it.

I don’t mind it. Just have to get used to pausing it if I stop and text or do something. No more of the funny umpires playing guitar with the bat. Lol

Well, it is this time of the year again!

I'm really looking forward to your sliders again. I've been using it for two years now and especially in the last year (with the gameplay improvements) I've had many exciting and nerve-wracking hours with it.
Many games were so close to reality, situations where a double play or hit decided the win, my bullpen destroyed everything my starter had struggled to achieve, or when I was really nervous facing the heart of the lineup.

I won't play it until next week, but patches or roster changes won't make any franchise worthwhile for me until then. On top of that, I'm playing with real injuries and trades, meaning I'll wait until opening day anyway.

Because of Ohtani, I'm mostly playing the Dodgers this time. This is also a change because I usually win .500 or below with these sliders and an average team. At the end of the day, winning is more fun.

So thanks in advance! Keep it up!

Glad you enjoy them. You will like 24. The Dodgers will be a fun team for sure to play with.

So what’s the verdict? Cpu is better or about the same as 23? Do you need to compensate for their high strikeouts and lack of offence?

I think early on the cpu is a little more dangerous and harder to strikeout on 24. I did 10 test games that I tracked and their homeruns and extra bases were a little high and they averaged 8.5 K’s per game.

4 seam fastballs are only effective if you keep them up in the zone and then every now and then sneak one in down low.

And even with that they had better have 95+ velocity on them.

Fastballs in the main part of the plate area get killed no matter how well you may try to place it.

You also have to change speeds as well. Changing speeds seems to be the kryptonite that gets the batters off balanced. But if you cant keep your breaking ball in the stirke zone you will fall behind in the count.

Very challenging situation from a pitching standpoint.

You have to have flame throwers coming out of your bullpen if you want to consistently close out games.

I updated the post with the sliders that I’m going to test for the next 10-15 games. More default based.

                                CPU with HOF pitching.

                                Contact: 6
Power: 6 (would like to bring it down to 5)
                                Timing: 5
                                Solid Hits: 5

With user control and consistency at 5. And we are going to try more default fielder sliders.
